Because today is such a busy day, I’m actually staying up last night to get as much of today’s work done in advance as I can.  Finding two more short takes this morning took some doing.  Go Broncos!!

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 4:13 (average 5:38).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Salon.com: 2016 was a challenging year for LGBT rights. A year after the Supreme Court legalized equal marriage 5-4 vote, an unprecedented number of bills targeting queer and transgender people were introduced to state legislatures. According to the Human Rights Campaign, more than 200 anti-LGBT bills were debated by states across the U.S., including Massachusetts, Illinois, Louisiana, and Montana. Many failed, unable to make it out of committee or vetoed by state governors. Others passed.

The 10 public figures listed below were those most active in creating a climate of bigotry and hate this year, in which a backlash to LGBT equality flourished. If 2017 is just as bad of a year for queer folks as the last one was, you’ll have these people to blame.

1. Pat McCrory, Governor of North Carolina

2. Mike Pence, Vice President-Elect [Resident NOT President]

I shared two Republican homophobes. Click through for the other eight. RESIST!!

From YouTube (Media Matters Channel): There’s a reason they hate us

Barf Bag Alert!!

If the Republican Rectum Reich hates them, that’s more than sufficient cause to love them. RESIST!!

From Think ProgressIt’s now 2017 and we are down to the last 20 days of Barack Obama’s presidency. In 2012, prognosticators were very confident about what would happen to America by now because of Obama’s reelection. Let’s check in and see how their predictions turned out:

1. Gas was supposed to cost $6.60 per gallon.

In March 2012, on the floor of the United States Senate, Mike Lee (R-UT) predicted that if Obama was reelected gas would cost $6.60 per by the end of Obama’s second term. Lee said that gas prices would rise 5 cents for every month Obama was in office.

That’s one. Click through for the other three. RESIST!!

  1. Salon: Yea, everything is bigger in Texas, except for Cruz and Patrick, the bigots who have no empathy for others. #9 and #10 says it all about where we're going.

BBA: Give 'em hell, MM! Resist!!

TP: "It’s now 2017 and we are down to the last 20 days of Barack Obama’s presidency." Had a hard time getting past that sentence.

Star Wars quote here: ""I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and suddenly silenced" – Obi-Wan

Cartoon: That's me, as the neighborhood shot off firecrackers till about 2 a.m. Must have been some party, as I wasn't invited. Thankfully!! 😉

Enjoy your game, my guys are fixing to play. Have a good rest of your day, and Thanks, Tom.

  2. 5:39  Dang!  Almost!

Salon – LBGTQ may have it the worst, but they have good company in Muslims, African Americans, Latinos, and even women.  I won't try lisying names (so many of them are the same anyway.)  Does it HURT to be that self-righteous?  Is that why the dominant reaponse is to hurt everyone else?

YT/MM – If you would rather read than view, their main page is http://mediamatters.org/blog.

TP – A) From where I sit, Lee was off by a factor of just over 200% (it's a tad lower than the national average here).  Frankly, while it helps me, I am occasionally scared by how low it is.  (Is it maybe a "loss leader"?  I'm not sure how that would work with fossil fuels.)  B), C) – The problem is that these are FACTS and no one who voted fot the Cheeto-faced ferret-wearing shitgibbon whould recognize a fact if it came to his (or her) door and showed ID.  Heck, if they can't grasp the truth about gas ptoces by looking at the PUMP, for whatever's sake, thy won't grasp the economy.  They interpret unemployment as "I'm not getting paid what I want to be paid, so that's massive unemployment."  The stock market – what's that?  Even people who actually trade don't get it, and so few of his supporters even have enough money to have all their teeth, let alone trade.

Cartoon – I hope your team does well.  Maybe, with the pressure off and the home team advantage, they will.  And, if they don't, I hope there are no riots!

    RESIST !!!

  3. I LOVE the ThinkProgress Prediction FAILS.WRT Pres. Obama.

And they have the added benefit of being recyclable for the next four years – with a much better chance of being accurate.

  4. Salon: These people are such poor examples of what it means to be a real human being!

BBA: I will not bother to see what their reaons are…well, I though I just might learn something useful, and then I got to O'Reilly caling Media Matters a propaganda machine! Kelly whatever the hell she is, said "Just ask any conservative, or Republican…."  I would not ask any of them for the time of day!  So, thet don't loke us because we speak truth to BS?  Wow, what a concept!

TP: These folks can be lees accurae than the weather forcasters…and still keep their jobs?  How about they were chanelling Goebbels?  That's it!  pushing BS IS their job!

  5. Man! I TRIED to read all that stuff on Salon, but I couldn't stand the hate I was reading! Do they really think that way? Shocking! Why can't they "live and let live" like their book of fairytales tells them to? I am so SICK of the religious right!!! THEY MAKE ME WANT TO MOVE TO A MIDDLE-EASTERN COUNTRY! At least there, ya know where you stand! And family that needs to should move to Canada for safety!

Think Progress: Looks like the prognosticators got their numbers mixed up! Gas is just above $2 and I can fill my car up for less than $20! I just love it when their doom and gloom doesn't come true. I just hope the ones that are telling us that the next four years is going to be straight-up hell are just as WRONG!!! I fear they are NOT!

Have a HAPPY New Year, TC! Take care! We are fixing to get hit with a winter storm soon. I'm gettin out the long-handle drawers for this one! They are talking SNOW! Deep SNOW! Ugh. Ah well! This winter , after all!

  6. Thanks for all the hard work, TomCat, but don't forget to take a break now and again, have a short nap and restore your energy. Resistance takes a lot of energy, you know.

Salon: These ten are terribly familiar, aren't they and only the top of a bloody big dung heap. Drumpf's dung heap, because they're all connected to him one way or another. It's clear that you can't be a true Drumpf supporter and get into his cabinet/entourage if you don't have at least one big hate, in this case LGBT folk, but you'll do even better if you got a few more, like African-Americans, Muslims, Jews, Hispanics, women… like most of those on this particular list have. Keep calling them out on every single hate they exhibit and RESIST!

YT:(MMC): You know they're doing an excellent job if they can get under the skin of so many Republicans who declare publicly they hate Media Matters. Kudos to MM for reaching that state of (Re)public(an) annoyance! Go give them hell in 2017!

TP: These are only four of the things that went much better than predicted, and the progressive resistance should document each one of them and start bombarding America with them now and anew as soon any of them make a turn for the worst under Drumpf:
    1. Gas prices will surely rise no matter how much more America will pump up itself or how many more pipelines the lay across the country. Saudi Arabia has finally reduced it's production and all oil companies are global players on a global market, who either want to cash in on as much as they still can or are looking to invest in other durable and greener sources of energy. So under Drumpf irony will have it that oil prices will rise from their historic low under Obama, no matter what. And let's be honest, Drumpf is not going to keep his cronies from making a fast buck on resources that are going obsolete anyway, is he.
    2. The unemployment rate will continue to fall until Drumpf's draconian politics really kick in. And until then he'll take the credit for that, just as the Republicans blamed Obama for the high unemployment caused by his predecessor. But this 'credit' won't last nearly as long. The economy seems to be on the up with Drumpf's election, but that's the Wall Street economy only. That's nothing 90% of Americans will ever experience in terms of jobs or income.
    3. Of course the stock markets didn't crash, they went up nearly 50%. But to be fair, the stock markets were predicted to fall if Drumpf was elected, but they rose immediately after a slight dip. And they'll probably stay high for a while, because Drumpf will do everything to keep his assets soaring. But that has little to do with the economy for the average American, which will only get worse.
    4. Know-it-all Limbaugh will be proven right, but his Obammageddon, in his opinion, will only have taken longer than he predicted. It'll happen under Drumpf, but of course Drumpf, Limbaugh and the rest of the GOP will still blame Obama for it. It can't possibly have anything to do with Drumpf and the GOP, can it.
Don't let them get away with any of it and

    RESIST!

  7. "The problem is that these are FACTS and no one who voted fot the Cheeto-faced ferret-wearing shitgibbon whould recognize a fact if it came to his (or her) door and showed ID. " – This was funny, Joanne, but then also sad because it's so darn true.

I'm thinking black armband on Jan 20 – as we go from gracious, funny, dignified, intelligent, compassinate president to total asshole, what else is there to do but mourn?  And RESIST!

  8. Thanks all!  Swamjped Hugs!

  9. Puzzle — 3:53  Stars in my eyes, a bow around my neck.  The best dressed Sasquatch ever!

Salon — These homophobes should not be anywhere near government as they do not represent all the people.  Forget that many did not vote for them either in state or federal elections, these admitted homophobes fail to represent the people of the LGBTQ community which, as an elected politician or appointed federal/state official is their duty.  A pox on them all!

YouTube — Media Matters is the itch that the right wing nut jobs can't scratch!  Kudos Media Matters!

Think Progress — I can see that the right's crystal ball is majorly cracked!  That will make the next 2-4 years really bad!  2018 is the first time to officially correct this catastrophe.  RESIST!!!

Cartoon — Which team?  The Broncos have ridden into the seasonal sunset until next year.  PP followers are in full RESIST mode!

    RESIST!!!

Sorry I didn't comment earlier.  I went to see mum yesterday and was beat after getting home about 2230 hr.  She is very much deteriorating and now sleeps much of the time.  I got her up for dinner, fed her and then brushed her hair for about 3 hours.  She fell asleep right away when they put her to bed.  It is going to be increasingly difficult emotionally to see her from now on.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
