Surrounding the Rat

I have written about Rick Snyder, Crimefuhrer of the Republican Totalitarian Managed Plutocracy of Snyderstan on at least forty two occasions from 2009 through today, so I’ve had more that ample opportunity to whet my appetite for surrounding him,  criminal charges, indictments, trials and a nice prison cell.  At long last, it looks like we’re surrounding the rat.

SnyderA criminal investigation into this city’s water crisis reached into the top ranks of supervision over Flint on Tuesday as Michigan officials announced felony charges against two former state-appointed emergency managers, accusing them of fixating on saving money rather than on the safety of residents.

The managers, who were appointed by Gov. Rick Snyder to lead Flint out of fiscal distress, were charged over their roles in the public health crisis prompted by the city’s switch to a new water source, as well as the delays in responding to residents’ complaints as they suffered the devastating effects.

Announcing the charges at a banquet center not far from the Flint River, Bill Schuette, the state’s attorney general, described “a fixation on finances and balance sheets” as at the root of what happened in Flint, where the water has been tied to the lead poisoning of children and the deaths of 12 people from Legionnaires’ disease.

“All too prevalent in this Flint water investigation was a priority on balance sheets and finances rather than health and safety of the citizens of Flint,” said Mr. Schuette, a Republican who is seen as a possible candidate for governor in 2018…

From <NY Times>

Rachel Maddow covered the story in two segments.  In the first she provides background and talks about the charges.

In the second,Rachel discusses the likelihood that they will charge Snyder.

Unlike King Midas, whatever Snyder touches turns to shit. Indict the SOB.

  1. I read recently there are a few communities in the US that have lead levels in their water higher than Flint's.  It would be good to learn which and surround them too.  Not to diminish the accomplishment here, which I applaud and support.

Ellery Queen coined the term "Sadim touch" for the condition you describe Snyder as having.  I would say not only Snyder, but his "Midas" program also has the Sadim touch.  And they are not alone.  And does Rachel ever have the "emergency management" system nailed!  I remember from the very beginning of the Flint crisis Republicans were saying, "Those people elected these officials."  Well, NO THEY DIDN'T!

I have of course been wanting to see Snyder behind bars for a long time.  Bur he is certainly not the only one either.

    RESIST !!!

  2. Finally. I hope this investigation proceeds rapidly, so the folks in Flint can get this resolved, in getting clean water. And that includes Snyder. The man – $$$ before people.

  3. Snyder's indictment is long overdue. And with a non-elected president about to be in a position to bring everything to a screeching halt, they better hurry up before the people of Flint end up with nothing but lead and Snyder with some post in Drumpf's entourage.

  4. Do the crime and do the time!  It was very apparent when this was first breaking out nationally that Snyder was ultimately responsible and involved in some of the decision making.  He should be tried and convicted of reckless endangerment and negligent homocide, or charges along that line.  No club fed!  Hard time!

  5. Snyder should be indicted, but do any of us think that he will be?  Managers that he ordered to do this will be prosecuted, but he will probalby go free.

  6. Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette (R) The same attorney prosecuting the Flint Water case appears to be advocating on the return of the death penalty in Michigan.

On March 1, 1847, Michigan became the first English-speaking territory in the world to abolish the death penalty. In 1963, the death penalty was constitutionally banned in Michigan.

But last month (February 5, 2015), state Attorney General Bill Schuette noted that a majority of citizens across the country support the death penalty, especially when it comes to certain offenders. Now, members of the Michigan legislature are considering taking up a death penalty bill.

Considering what Gov. Rick Snyder ® has done to the people of Michigan especially those in Flint, Michigan in denying that there was anything wrong with the water on a continuous basis, poisoning the people, children with lead contamination with other chemicals and killing 12 people with Legionaries Disease, Snyder is the ripe and perfect candidate for Michigan's possible renewal of the death penalty. Aside from the death penalty, Snyder should receive a life in prison sentence. The "MIDAS" program Snyder help put together, was unbelievable! Plus Snyder helped to suppress the black vote and may have had a hand to refusing to allow counting the ballots in Michigan especially the uncounted 75,000 ballots which gave Drumpf the Electoral College vote.

"Every crime has a victim, and all too often the victim is forgotten. But here in Michigan, Attorney General Bill Schuette (R) is the voice for victims, and he fights every day to make sure that victims are heard." This is his motto from his own web site. Do you think he will go after Gov. Rick Snyder…
