Wendy just left.  After she scoured the stinky TomCat, we did the dreaded task, cleaned floors and counters, and had French Toast for brunch.  Today is a holy day in the Church of the Ellipsoid Orb.  My Broncos are meditating with the Jaguars as I write, but the game is not televised here.  I’m following it online.  May the Orb shine it’s blessed light on your team, unless they are spotted puddy tats.  Portland is under a Winter Weather Advisory.  It may snow.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:18 (average 5:17).  To do it,. click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From The New Yorker: President-elect Donald J. Trump drew a line in the sand on Friday as he warned that U.S. companies planning to ship jobs overseas will be slapped with enormous bribes.

“If you think you’re going to get away with sending jobs out of the U.S., think again,” Trump said. “You are about to be bribed, big league.”

He raised the cautionary example of Carrier Corporation, which this week decided to keep a few hundred jobs in the U.S. in exchange for a seven-million-dollar government incentive. “I warned those boys at Carrier: we can do this the easy way, or the hard way, where you get seven million dollars,” he said. “They backed down so fast—it was terrific.”

Andy, Fuhrer Drumpfenfarten was not even sufficiently competent to bribe Carrier. Vice Puke elect Pence had to do it for him.

It’s OK with me, if she stays lost.

From NY Times: Senate Democrats concede they have little leverage to stop Donald J. Trump’s cabinet nominees. But that will not discourage them from trying to make life as uncomfortable as possible for many of his choices, with the hope of forcing their Republican colleagues and Mr. Trump to squirm along the way.

With nominees like Representative Tom Price, a proponent of fundamental changes to Medicare, to be health secretary, and Steven Mnuchin, a Goldman Sachs trader turned hedge fund manager, as Treasury secretary, Democrats hope to use the confirmation hearings to highlight the wide river of incongruities between Mr. Trump’s campaign promises and much of the team he is assembling. The goal: to fuel a narrative that the incoming president, and the Republicans who support him, cannot be trusted.

“President-elect Trump promised that he was going to clean up the swamp,” said Senator Chuck Schumer of New York, the incoming Democratic leader, “and a whole lot of his nominees have had their career in the swamp.”

Making them squirm is not enough! A smaller Republican minority blocked virtually all of Obama’s appointees for years. Democrats should only obstruct the evil ones… ALL of them!! RESIST!!

  1. 4:51  Could you eat a horse, pilgrim?

TNY – Hey, a little think like the truth is not going to get in the way of Popular-Vote-Loser Trump supporters thinking he actually accompished something.

YT/SNL – She certainly is entitled to some rest and some grieving.  My God, she's been slandered for 24 years, minimum.  But she has done a lot of good things for a lot of people, especially people in need, and it would be a shame if that were to disappear forever.

NYT – One thing I read – was it here? – Flynn as Secretary of Defense, like all of them, doesn't need 60 votes for confirmation.  BUT he does need 60 Senate votes to pass his waiver of not having been retired long enough.  That should help.  Also, I have read that Orrin Hatch is violently opposed to eliminating the filibuster.  That should get into the turtle's way a little.

Cartoon – Daily Kos has a diary on some televangelist saying Popular-Vote-Loser Trump is just like Jesus disciples – all of them.  Yeah.  Well, he's just like Peter, who didn't hesitate before lying to get out of a tight spot.  He's just like like James and John, who spent their spare time arguing, "Jesus likes me best!"  "No, he doesn't he likes me best!"  He's just like Nathanael, who was so bigoted he would not believe anthing good at all could come from Nazareth.  And, depending on how you interpret Judas, he might or might not be just like Judas.  If Judas was a thief all along, yes.  But some people seriously believe Judas came to the point where he believed Jesus' motives were insufficiently pure.  That doesn't sound like Trump to me.  It does sound like some other people participating in this election.

    • After posting I remembered Thomas, who had an attitude about conspiracy theories.  I've read the Bible more than once, and I once even read a book about the individual disciples, but I never thought I would need that information, so I'm sure more could be said.

  2. NYer: Oh, Andy! DT (the ID), will have plenty of time to screw things up, he'll have four years!!

YT: Yes, I'm sure she's grieving, and I grieve alongside with her too.

NYT: Should be a long, hard 4 years and a busy time for our Senate Dems to make their lives (repugs),  'miserable as possible', as they should!!

Breaking news! is reporting US Army Corp of Engineers says DAPL to be REROUTED around Sioux territory!

Well, my guys lost, I'm blaming it on the snow..LOL. Hope that you have a good evening, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

  3. New Yorker:  Had there never been an Andy before, I think that the universe would have found away to spontaneously create one just for a chance to do commentary  on Rumpy!  If this plie actually get so be president, OR EVEN NOT, can you imagine the depth, and breadth of the opportunity for riffing off of this clown??

SNL: Beautiful!!  So, Rumpy wanted "equal time?"  Damn, I could write that story and script:  It begins with a refernce to the joke about  digging a hole and asking about what it is filled with, as one makes it bigger and bigger.  It's the search for Mr. Orange Empty!!!!  Are the spaces between trees empty (my apologies to Annie Dillard),  is there a place in which one can search for INTENSE emptiness?  For Malignant emptiness?  If a swamp is quiet, is it empty? Now, wer're getting close!

NY T: Now Schumer is beginning to regain some trust from me. But, then, this may be the biggest no-brainer he's ever faced!  Clean the swamp, how about, once again, re-build it (We all know what a great builder Rumpy is…The Best Ever, just ask him!) in his own image!

  4. I saw a thing on FB that was about Drumpfenfarten and his Twitter feud with SNL. A person named Danielle Muscato told @the realDonaldTrump what America is so disgusted with him about! IT WAS FABULOUS! Check out #RESIST on Twitter and you will be TOTALLY amazed out how she got to Drumpfenfarten and has my undying respect!

Plus plus! The ACOE HAS halted the #NoDAPL! There couldn't have been a better way of ending the day around here!

  5. The New Yorker:  This makes me ill.  He is slapping himself on the back and thousands are cheering, when all it was actually, was another corporate pay back.

The Hunt for Hill:  She deserves some privacy right now.

NY Times:  You are right, TC, making them squirm is not enough. They should block everything they can and filibuster as often as possible. Make it harder on Trump than it has been for Obama, who at least was acting in our interests, instead of the banks and corporations.

Cartoon:  Sadly, it will not affect its target.

  6. Puzzle — 3:06  No pony fricassée Puddy Tat!

I can barely see so if I have time, I'll finish tomorrow after physio.

  7. Seems like you had a good day, TomCat, cleaning and getting cleaned and brunching in good company. It's getting winterly here too.

TNY: Andy's spot on again, bribe is about all Drumpf is capable of. With tax-payers' money of course, probably taken out of the welfare of the poor workers who do not get to hold on to their job and out of those who'll get kicked out after three years when the "great deal" with those "great guys" from Carrier Co. runs out.

YT(SNLC): Funny, but I think Hill will fly under the radar for some time to come, and to be honest I don't blame her. Given the way she and Obama have been blamed for everything by the GOP , she'll probably get blamed for all the terrible blunders, tweets and general madness of Drumpf by Republicans and for having forced people to vote for Drumpf, or a third party/write-in because she was such a terrible candidate and they couldn't possibly vote for her. 🙄

NYT: Agreed, TomCat, making them squirm is definitely not enough. Confirmation hearings? Strike "confirmations", don't let Drumpf even smell "confirmation". Block his appointments any way you can for as long as you can, Democrats. Resist.

Cartoon: The pussy grabber has given his blessing to the money grabbers. Soon not only the Constitution will be changed but the 10 commandments will be "updated" too to suit the Cabinet Banksters.

  8. Thanks TC.  The video was excellent – one bit I liked was the actress saying "It seemed like it wanted some kind of  time to itself, so I immediately started running after it…" – human nature in a nutshell, sadly.

NYT – quite correct.  It has to be done – it simply has to if Tr is going to carry on as he has been.

  9. I'm sure that Trump's latest was too new for this article and will probably be in tomorrows, but my goodness I am worried…

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-china-38213874

Trump has been attacking China again with tweets about them

"How might China respond to Trump tweets?

US President-elect Donald Trump has attacked China on social media, accusing it of military expansionism and manipulating its currency.

China's government response was measured, but Beijing is increasingly concerned by the prospect of changes in style and content of US policy."

When exactly does this idiot get his hands on the nuclear codes – AFTER he is sworn in, I take it (he is behaving as if he is President already after all)?  At least we may be able to enjoy Christmas?!

  10. Thanks all!  Hugs!!
