This past week or so has been, what some will say, an outrageous nightmare of monumental proportions as Trump's cabinet and advisory positions are filled with ultra racists, deplorables by any other name.

Fears the incoming Trump administration will deploy race-based tools used by Nazi Germany to target Muslims were validated this week when a top immigration adviser said a national registry of immigrants might be created after taking office. Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, who drafted tough immigration laws in Arizona and elsewhere, said Trump's policy advisers…

Some of the rhetoric and proposed actions of Trump and his advisers do indeed have parallels to the Nazi's actions towards German Jews prior to WWII.

Hitler announced the Nuremberg Laws in 1935. These laws stripped Jews of their civil rights as German citizens and separated them from Germans legally, socially, and politically. Jews were also defined as a separate race under "The Law for the Protection of German Blood and Honor." Being Jewish was now determined by ancestry; thus the Germans used race, not religious beliefs or practices, to define the Jewish people. This law forbade marriages or sexual relations between Jews and Germans. Hitler warned darkly that if this law did not resolve the problem, he would turn to the Nazi Party for a final solution.

More than 120 laws, decrees, and ordinances were enacted after the Nuremburg Laws and before the outbreak of World War II, further eroding the rights of German Jews. Many thousands of Germans who had not previously considered themselves Jews found themselves defined as "non-Aryans."

Will the Guantanamo detention centre gain new life in a Trump administration?

  1. I'm certain that it will.

  2. If every non-violent drug offender in Federal prisons were to be discharged tomorrow, there would not be enough room in them and Guantanamo to hold all the immigrants Trump and his "family" (in the mafia sense) want to deport.  There wil be internment camps all over the country.  Especially in states which are sparsely populated.  Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, come to mind, but eastern Oregon and Washington are probably also in the running.  I deeply hope Colorado can resist.

And no doubt some of those facilities can and will be converted to use for Muslims after the immigrants are gone.

  3. Yes, it has started, and we need to RESIST!

    Thanks, Lynn.

  4. Guantanamo will be provide the blueprint if the Rump, and Kobach get their way!  For him to say that the camps that held Japanese-Americans can be a precedent, is sooo twisted!  But, hey, if precedent is allowed, how about putting Fox News in a camp??

  5. Sorry, Lynn, I've started with the Takei article first and already commented with regard to the lines of Nazi Germany's registration of people of Jewish ancestry and where it led to. It's getting just a touch too painful to comment in a similar vein here.
