I did manage to get a little sleep yesterday, but I’m still behind the curve.  Tomorrow is a holy day in the Church of the Ellipsoid Orb, but my Broncos are taking the day off.  To honor the LGBT community, they have a bi week.  May the Divine Orb shine it’s blessed light on your team.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 5:13 (average 6:42).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Rachel Maddow Show: Trump makes extreme choice in Flynn for NSA

Congressman Adam Schiff, ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, talks with Rachel Maddow about Donald Trump naming Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn as his national security advisor and why he thinks Flynn is not well-suited for the job.

With want other politician does this extremist wing-nut share a love of Putin’s propaganda network, RT? Flynn reminds me of General Ripper in Doctor Strangelove.

From YouTube (Media Matters Channel): Trump’s Election And The Power Of Fear

For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind. (Hos. 8:7 KJV) That’s only half right. We have ALL reaped the Republican whirlwind.

From International Business Times: The election may be over and president-elect Donald Trump may be wavering on whether he wants a special prosecutor to investigate former rival Hillary Clinton, but that hasn’t cooled the ardor of congressional Republicans who want to investigate her private email server.

Five House and Senate panels may be planning to continue probing Clinton’s use of a private server during her tenure as secretary of state even though the FBI concluded her actions didn’t rise to the level of criminal conduct.

Why are Republicans so anxious to twist the knife, even though Hillary’s political career is effectively over? There are two reasons. Republicans politicians are hateful and vicious, and it detracts from the crimes they have never stopped committing regularly.

  1. Trump picks his people the same way he campaigns.  Which means he  chooses butt-lickers and fear mongers.  He is repulsive.

Penzeys is a spice company.  I very much admire their outlook, their business practices, their usual message of kindness and love.  This is from an email they sent recently… I like both that they took a stand and that they tell it like it is…

"The open embrace of racism by the Republican Party in this election is now unleashing a wave of ugliness unseen in this country for decades. The American people are taking notice. Let's commit to giving the people a better choice. Our kindness really is our strength."

Since I ask you to read my emails, I feel it's only right that I read each of your replies. In sifting through those replies it was clear that, though not intended, a good number of people seemed to sincerely believe that in my statement I was calling all Republicans racists. In the emails of those Republicans who voted for someone other than the party's nominee, I sensed genuine pain at having the strength of character to not go along with what was happening, but nonetheless be grouped in with those who were. I apologize for writing something that caused you pain; that is not the person I want to be. You are your party's future, and you deserve my admiration and respect, and your country's as well.

For the rest of you, you just voted for an openly racist candidate for the presidency of the United States of America. In your defense, most of you did so without thinking of the consequences of your candidate's racism, because for most of you the heartbreaking destruction racism causes has never been anything you or your loved ones have had to experience. But the thing is elections have their consequences. This is no longer sixty years ago. Whether any of us like it or not, for the next four years the 80% of this country who did not just vote for an openly racist candidate are going to treat you like you are the kind of person who would vote for an openly racist candidate.

You can get angry at everyone else for treating you like you just did the thing you just did, or you can take responsibility for your actions and begin to make amends. If you are lucky and younger family members are still coming over for Thanksgiving, before it's too late, take a moment and honestly think about how your actions must look through their eyes. Simply saying "I never thought he'd win" might be enough. But if you have the means, leaving a receipt from a sizable donation to the ACLU or the SPLCaccidentally laying around where you carve the turkey, might go over even better…..

More often than not, those we meet cooking and serving food to feed those in need are Republicans. You really are a good bunch, but you just committed the biggest act of racism in American history since Wallace stood in the schoolhouse doorway 53 years ago. Make this right. Take ownership for what you have done and begin the pathway forward.

  2. Arielle is right about Rumpy's picking (his nose).

The Maddow piece won't run, but I do't think I need to see/hear ot, in order tokn ow that Rumpy picks assholes.  No,I'm NOT going to take that any farther!

We now have several Strangeloves with which to cope!

MM: So well put!  Sen. Franken's attempt at a talk show of reason had no way to compete with the crazies!

The Orange Clown is probably going to make us wish for the good old days of Ronald RayGun!

  3. They say you can't really catch up on sleep, TomCat, but it takes a load of my mind that you're at least sleeping a bit better. Good for you, don't let the SOBs get the better of you.

RMS: Rachel Maddow and Adam Schiff together have made it very clear that Michael Flynn is about the worst possible choice for the position of the presidents national security advisor. Flynn's irrational and extreme way of thinking, his chaotic ideology – or what passes for ideology among Republicans these days – and his combustive, testosterone dominated temperament will certainly harm America's national security. Drumpf seems to pick people who are his clones in temperament and lack of rationality as his chief advisors. It's very likely that he, Flynn and Bannon will come to ideological blows and that Flynn and Bannon will fight over power and influence, all of which is destructive to the country on too many levels.
You may have found the essence of Flynn right there, TomCat. I thinkk Flynn may have found his nickname even before he started: General Ripper.

YouTube(MMC): Boy, this is so spot-on it scares the hell out of me for a second or two. But that would mean I become part of the Faux News brainwashed to a certain extend, and I refuse to let that happen. Yes, I am scared of what a Drumpf future will bring to America and the the rest of us in the world. Because there is a Putin in Russia who came to power and remains there by the same means and there are so many other world leaders or governments who have put the fear of their god into the country and are stuck with more and more uncontrollable, angry and reactionary people. This has happened before, not just in the 1930's and it always ended with looking for scapegoats within the country, then outside of it and ending in war to placate that angry mob they had created. But I will not allow myself to be part of that, even though I am scared at the moment. Of Drumpf and all those others just like him. We must resist the fear.

IBT: Investigating Clinton;s private e-mail server is vindictive and a distraction, as you say TomCat. But seen in the light of the previous Media Matters video it is also a way to placate the angry Drumpf voters, a way for the media to keep their ratings high, and away to keep their base angry but under control. Continuing stirring up their base against Clinton, or Democrats, or Lefties is to the GOP and their  media what games were to the Roman rulers.

Cartoon: But not on his doorstep, of course.

  4. RM:Uh-oh!!  Bannon and Flynn. Combustible duo.RM:Uh-oh!!  Bannon and Flynn. Combustible duo.

MM: Good video. Very informative. Resist!!

IBT: I agree with Gene in that, our departing President should issue a pardon for HRC before he leaves office. The  Repugs are so vindictive at the tune of millions of tax dollars to to continue this!

Cartoon: As Lyin' Ryan gleefully says!

My guys are headed to Mexico, su juego en México el lunes por la noche. Hope you continue to get some much needed rest. Take care, and Thanks, Tom.

  5. Sorry about the double comments!

    I d/k what happened..? ugh

    Sorry!!

  6. 5:49  Well, something unquestionably edible.  Careful with the syrup, though.

Rachel – Looks a lot like Jill Stein's back in the foreground of the RT dinner.   I am inclined to comment that fear of fascists and racists is reasonable, but if that tweet has been up more than two hours it has probably been said already at least once.  So he's looking at Willard for SoS?  Probably the least ooutrageous appointment I've heard so far, and it still stinks big time.  I hear he (The Don) is nor demanding an apology from the cast of "Hamilton."  I hope he doesn't get it.

MM – In other words, we will see happen to the government what has already happened to evangelical Christianity.  I suspect we may have to get a little paranoid ourselves/  Stay outraged.  Refuse to treat this administration as normal.  And all that other advice on how to survive in an autocracy.

IBT – I am not going to comment on this because I can't without highly inappropriate profanity.

    Cartoon – That's for sure.

  7. Makes me scared to even turn on the tv anymore!

    Take care, TC!

  8. My comments just got wiped out, said the site wasn't responding.

  9. woo hoo, took the second comment!  The cartoon is a perfect description of Lyin Ryan.

  10. Puzzle — 4:54  Now where is that 'no added sugar' syrup!  I am hungry after so much work

TRMS — It is a well known management principle that the management team should be composed of people with differing strengths that compliment those of the leader.  According to Schiff, both Flynn and Drumpf are shoot from the hip, impetuous persons.  It would also appear that Flynn is also not a strong analytical thinker which adds further to his unsuitability.  Although not mentioned, I thought military persons had to be out of the service for 7 years, or is that only for positions requiring Senate confirmation?

Youtube — I wonder how long it will take before Drump's followers realise that they have been had.

IBT — How much money have these Republican neanderthals wasted on flogging dead horses in the past 8 years?  Financial conservatives, my ass!  As you say Puddy Tat, vicious, hateful criminals!

    Cartoon — That's their style!

Enjoy worshipping with other congregations tomorrow and keep resting.

  11. Thanks all!!  Hugs!!
