Courtney, aka Lady Torquemada, put me through some hard paces this morning.  Fatigue was exacerbated by a malfunctioning thermostat that kept the temperature about 15Β° too high.  On the way home I went to the bank.  After lunch I discovered that Politics Plus has been offline most of the day due to a DDoS attack against DNS servers, and thousands of sites are still down all over the country, so I’m not sure when I can publish this.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 2:35 (average 3:54).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From You Tube (Media Matters Channel): How β€œFalse Equivalence” Ruins Trump-Clinton News Coverage

False-equivalence is especially popular with Russian propagandists and their 3rd party dupes.

From YouTube (GQ Channel): These Insane Excuses From Trump’s Surrogates Are Deplorable | The Closer with Keith Olbermann |

I am soooo glad Keith is back!!!

From YouTube (CSPAN Channel): Hillary Clinton FULL REMARKS at Al Smith Dinner (C-SPAN)

I’d call that a Rump Dump roast!  In the interest of fairness, here is the complete list of everything worth hearing Trump said during his segment:

…[end of list].

  1. 3:41  Middle of nowhere, but much more pleasant looking than many other places that could be described as the middle of nowhere.

I see it's up now.  It also hit Etsy (which I was trying to get a URL from for "Nasty Woman" bumper stickers – I did get it and posted on Nameless' article) and Care2 (so stars are delayed.  It was quite something, wasn't it?

    YouTube/MM – Excellent explanation.

YouTube/GQ – Of course he is right.  I, too, will apologize for repeating things that have been said many times.  MOST PEOPLE have no idea that complex election law exists which governs, state by state, when an election can be considered decided and final.  Thay think it is completely arbitrary and subject to the whims of "politicians" and "candidates."  That is because Civics is no longer being taught.  And THAT is because ONE party has been working to systematically destroy public education  since Brown v Board.

YouTube/CS – I don't have time now to watch the whole thing.  I did hear that in response to one of her zingers Trump said "Good one!"  That would be so unexpected it might have been worth hearing.  But I don't know how accurate the report is.

Cartoon – And isn't THAT the truth!

  2. YT: Good video explaining how it works.

YT2: Keith rocks!! Well said, sir!  GOP==Train wreak, indeed!!!

YT3: DT: What a vile, mean man!! She roasted him pretty good, that must have been a teensy bit of a stress reliever for her. I enjoyed her talking and getting a few digs in.

    Cartoon: Yep!

You made it to and back home, glad that you got it out of the way. I read about the servers too, pretty bad I hear. I came through okay for me.  Enjoy your evening, and take good care. Thanks, Tom.

*Chris, I keep getting a 404, so I'll try later.

  3. Very few things get my goat more than the endless False Equivalency by the media.

Hey, MSM – NO … Both Sides Do NOT Do It!

That YouTube video was great (and I liked their built-in CC)

Here's a shorthand summary of how I explain MSM's endless False Equivalency:

    Democrats: 1+1 = 2

    Repubicans: 1+1 = 3

    Media:         1+1 = 2.5

… OR how they would report it in prose:

"Obviously, this is a heated partisan debate"

  4. Media Matters:  I totally agree with this assesment.  They have pretended that Trump is a normal candidate, I give the tv stations credit, or blame, for Trump's campaign.

Keith Olberman:  Wow, wow, wow.  Go Keith.  He said what I would like to say to all those who are still supporting Trump.

Al Smith dinner:  I watched last night, but I listened again, just to hear her roast Trump.

    Cartoon:  I totally agree!

  5. Puzzle — 2:54  Contemplation: Over the hill and a very far off, a woodchuck died of the whooping cough!

Youtube — Great explanation.  I doubt that Republicans will understand it, and the fact that it is rampant in the media, suggests the media doesn't understand it either.

    Youtube — Amen Keith!

Youtube — Great speech, and humourous too!  Even Drumpf laughed, although Melania seemed less than amused for much of it.

Cartoon — Excellent!  Republican slot machine where nobody wins except the house.

  6. So Courtney wasn't the only one who gave you a hard time yesterday, TomCat. You must getting too critical of Republicans to their taste and now the Russians are attacking your site/DNS server too πŸ˜‰

YouTube(MM): Excellent video, using a brilliant animated comparison to show how dangerous False Equivalence really is. I especially liked the Picasso-esque Drumpf bull entering a thoroughbred horse race. False equivalence is something not unique to America, right wing politicians have forced it down the throats of media too. The left-leaning or bipartisan media like for instance the BBC had a hard time swallowing it before the Brexit referendum but they had to comply because they were government funded. Brexiters were given ample room to broadcast their falsehood, lies and empty promises, and look what happened
Some media in America currently seem to take more responsibility for what they broadcast, possibly because the ludicrous False Equivalence simply can no longer be maintained in the face of Drumpf's actions. We can only hope they'll keep this up in the next 2 weeks and others will follow no matter how hard Drumpf complains and whines about unfair coverage.

YouTube(GQ): When you welcomed Keith Olbermann back some weeks ago, TomCat, I had no idea who you were talking about. Since then I've seen a number of his videos which genuinely impressed me with their content and concise political reasoning. He doesn't offer humor, but bare facts clad in iron logic and merciless dissects the American political process and its key abusers. Welcome back Keith Olbermann.

YouTube(CSPAN): Some of the jokes were more appropriate for a roast, but Hillary Clinton's finale was exceptional and most fitting to a fundraising dinner. Drumpf managed to laugh – like a farmer with a toothache, as we say – throughout his roast, but Melania kept giving him these worried sideways glances, afraid that he might burst a vessel perhaps. Some Republicans like Guliani couldn't even manage a smile. I think we can safely say that Clinton has scored another point in the match against Drumpf. 4-0, is it?

Cartoon: Another reason gambling is bad for you. Play it safe: Vote Blue every chance you get.
