The Trump Tape

Donald Trump has once again proven himself to be the perfect reflection of Republican misogyny.  While Republicans strive to be obscene and not heard, this Republican put it on tape for the whole worlds to hear, causing a tempest among Republicans desperate to lie that they aren’t the same way.

Under fire for lewd comments about groping women, Donald Trump released a video statement shortly after midnight Saturday in a bid to save his candidacy, apologizing and pledging to be a "better man."

“I’ve said and done things I regret," Trump said. "Anyone who knows me knows these words don’t reflect who I am. I said it, I was wrong, and I apologize.”

Trump’s campaign was sent reeling on Friday after a private tape was published in which the reality TV star bragged about groping, kissing and attempting to have sex with married women — and said he was entitled to do so because he’s a “star.”

The comments threaten to envelop, if not torpedo, his candidacy just days before his second presidential debate with Hillary Clinton, as top Republicans from across the nation condemned him in the sharpest possible terms…

Here’s the tape itself:

Barf Bag Alert!

Is that acting like a Republican or what?

Here are three video clips from the Rachel Maddow Show.  In the first, Rachel covers how the tape reinforces other claims that Trump has been denying.

In the second, Rachel discusses the tape with the reporter who originally exposed it.

In the third, Rachel covers the Republican Reaction, including considering alternatives, if Trump drops out.

Frankly, I think that’s just wishful thinking, and I doubt he’ll drop out.

You might considering me harsh for painting the entire Republican Party with this brush, bur please consider this.  I’m referring primarily to politicians and pundit, virtually all of whom jumped on the Rump Dump bandwagon after he was nominated.  But his misogyny was already a matter of record when his campaign began.  Further more, he could not have won the nomination, if the majority of voting rank-and-file Republicans had not voted for him.

  1. Where were they from the get-go when they all knew that Trump was a fetid pile of stinking fecal matter?

MotherJones has an article on "Five God Awful Statements by Trump That Did NOT Lead to Defections"

    http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2016/10/republicans-are-fleeing-trump-after-video-surfaces-him-bragging-about-groping-women

They republican Party got EXACTLY what the GOP base wants.

It'd be nice if any Hillary's opening statement she could channel the late Sen. Lloyd Bentsen along these lines:

Mr. Trump, I’ve worked with men.

    I know men.

    Men are friends of mine.

    Sir, you are no man.

  2. There are many good articles on this, but I particularly want to recommend http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/10/08/1579412/-It-has-happened-to-me-It-has-happened-to-you and particularly to men who are not misogynists because tmay just do the best job ever of showing how universal this is.  And, yes, it has happened to me.  So you just go ahead and tar the whole Republican party, and a large majority of ALL American men, with that brush.  There is plenty of evidence.

A bumper sticker has been proposed:  "GOP = Grabbers of P***y"

  3. He ain't gonna drop out! He'll have his good ole boys to VOTE for him! It will be BETTER for Hillary!

Cannot bring myself to listen to that tape again after Bill Maher played it last night! And I have a pretty salty mouth! But that goes beyond the pail! Just think of he does pull out! Pence will be the top of the ticket, just like repuglikkants want it!

This election is aging me terribly!

  4. He sleazy, and a slime ball of a person for his comments/actions. For years. Anyone else would be thrown in jail or sued for saying the things he's talked about.

They talk the talk, (repugs), but don't do the walk. ugh!

  5. Just like his "business acumen," he is nothing but BS.  The GOPIGS knew the kind of man with whom they were involved.  Speaking of "The Art of the Deal", this Mr. Pig with lipstick, has the GOPIGS having made a Faustian deal with an ass who belongs no where near politics!  And, now they will pay for it, I believe, because, he is not going to go away quietly…no, he is not going to go away at all…until he is pulled, kicking and screaming, from whatever hall these bastards hire, hours after the votes show him to have gotten no votes but those from the great state of BOZO!

  6. My grandmother used to tell me the story about a little girl who picked up a snake and carried it across the creek.  When they got to the other side, the snake bit her.  The little girl asked why?  The snake said "you knew I was a snake when you picked me up, that is what snakes do."  Same thing goes for the Republicans, they knew what Trump was but supported him anyway.  My apologies to all snakes.

  7. Melania Drumpf http://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/politics/melania-trump-calls-donalds-words-offensive/ar-BBxbjS8?li=AAadgLE&ocid=spartanntp

"The words my husband used are unacceptable and offensive to me. This does not represent the man that I know. He has the heart and mind of a leader. I hope people will accept his apology, as I have, and focus on the important issues facing our nation and the world."

    Pence http://www.ctvnews.ca/world/pence-won-t-condone-or-defend-crude-remarks-by-trump-1.3107670

"Pence's advocacy for Trump came to a screeching, perhaps temporary, halt Saturday in the hours after Trump released a video apologizing for 2005 remarks in which he describes his aggressive conduct toward women. Pence said in a statement about Trump that he won't "condone his remarks and cannot defend them." "We pray for his family and look forward to the opportunity he has to show what is in his heart when he goes before the nation tomorrow night," the Indiana governor said."

The list of GOP Drumpf hangers on is shrinking but Roy Blunt (R-Missouri) is totally enthralled with Drumpf.  Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) and John McCain (R-Arizona), just to name two, have withdrawn their endorsements.  I can't understand why it has taken them so long given Drumpf's very public and long standing list of gaffes.  Of course Lyin' Ryan is in Wisconsin with Pence, Drumpf having been uninvited.  Instead, Priebus gets to hold Drumpf's leash while he apparently prepares for Sunday's debate.

Apparently, Drumpf has said that he will not step down.

Why is Drumpf so caught up in Bill Clinton's affairs?  They have absolutely nothing to do with Hillary's campaign.  Perhaps Hillary should set her sights on Melania Drumpf and her nude photos or scantilly clad photos by the Drumpf plane.  I hope se does not stoop to Drumpf's level, but just saying . . .

    • Why do Drumpf and the Republicans, and so many in the media, keep hammering away at the words he used in the video? Drumpf apologizes for to any one who is offended by them – so he's not apologizing in my book – but the language and the way he rates women is the least of it. His mindset, the way he claims he can grope them and force himself on women because he's a "star"/"businessman"/"president" and get away with it, thinks he's entitled to it, now THAT should have people worried. What else does sociopath and megalomaniac Drumpf think he and his spawn are entitled to if he's president?

      • Because hammering away at the words he uses obscures the fact that he has confessed to sexual assault, a felony, in the video.  They really do not want to have to address that.  I note that McCain and Chaffetz, not the brightest bulbs on the tree, apparently recognize the difference between lewd language and felony assault, even though they won't say so.  That Blunt doesn't is telling.  Good luck, Missouri.

  8. You're absolutely right, of course, TomCat. Drumpf is acting exactly like a Republican. And those Republicans – afraid that it will rub off on them and on their (re)election – who turn away from him now, and who express their disgust and say that the GOP stands for family values and "champion and revere" women,  are hypocrites. The number of times we were witness to Republicans doing exactly the opposite and get away with it, are beyond count. We all know how most Republican men in power think and speak about women behind closed doors. Mike Pence will have a hard time to dodge this issue, I think.

It's strange that some now come out saying that this disclosure will taint America in the eyes of the world. More tainted than it already is by having Drumpf as the Republican nominee for the presidency and having some chance of getting there because millions are going to vote for him, you mean? Rachel put it well when she closed this item: No you're not in a nightmare, this is our election now. This is our country. To the rest of the world, it doesn't really matter any more if Drumpf drops out or not (unless he does get elected), America has tainted itself quite some time ago when Congress started blocking the democratically chosen black man in the White House in everything he did. Drumpf is just the epitome of everything that could go wrong in what once was the greatest world power. Let's hope it doesn't get any worse than that when Drumpf gets elected despite all that.

  9. I agree with the majority of the commentators above that Drumpf is a pathetic excuse of a man to run for POTUS. Pence is unelectable should Drumpf voluntarily step down. In actuality, Drumpf represents what the GOP/TP people really are and what they stand for in so many ways, not only of those vile remarks about women but on many other issues as espoused by Drumpf.

Despite what House Speaker Paul D. Ryan in castigating Drumpf in a statement ""I am sickened by what I heard today," Ryan said in a statement. "Women are to be championed and revered, not objectified." Ryan is an outright hypocrite.

Ryan wants to deny health services by defunding Planned Parenthood, no to equal pay, no to ACA (Obama Care), opposes abortion even in cases of rape & incest,  criminalize some forms of birth control, outlaw in vitro fertilization.

  10. To be fair, in the early 1970's, I engaged in behavior for which I could be sued today, but it was humorous, no touching was invfolved, and the women knew I respected them.  The standards were quite different then.

    Thanks and hugs to all.

    • I know that your heart is good, and I hope you are correct.  But the way women have been brought up to "go along to get along," even more in the 70's that today, there is no way to be positive that no one was hurt.

      • I hear you.  The biggest gender related complaints came from the three salesmen thaqt quit when I promoted a woman to Sales Manager She deserved it, but when she asked why I had done it, I said it was because she was the best man for the job. devil
