Today is another very busy day, as I have three articles to write, a week’s supply of pills to restock, and a menu and grocery list to plan for a week’s meals.  Courtney changed all my exercises, because the way the surgeons constructed Stumpy, the old exercises were putting too much pressure on the end of the bone.  Until I become accustomed to the new set, they will tire me more than usual, and I took a nap this morning after completing my research.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:53 (average 5:29).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From The New Yorker: Republicans on Friday expressed bafflement that President Obama had garnered a record-high second-term approval rating despite having turned the United States into an economically devastated, crime-ridden hellhole.

Appearing on “Fox & Friends,” the Trump surrogate Rudolph Giuliani said he was “dumbfounded” by the disconnect between Obama’s high approval rating and the President’s near-total dismemberment of a formerly strong nation.

“This country used to be a wonderful place to live,” the former New York mayor said. “Today, all you see is a hellscape of smoldering ruins.”

Giuliani blamed the mainstream media for not properly informing the American people about the destruction and havoc Obama has wrought since his first day in office.

Andy, where’s the humor? Hasn’t Rudy 911 (R-Dementia) said this very thing?

From YouTube: New Rule: America Rules, Trump Drools | Real Time with Bill Maher

We know America is rising. How? It’s the opposite of what Trump says. ChickenHawk Cheney being alive is the exception to that rule.

From Daily Kos:Libertarians, it’s time to get serious. Gary Johnson is not ready for prime time. Even if you forgive him for not knowing anything about Aleppo, the epicenter of the Syrian refugee crisis and you forgive him for being unable to name a single foreign leader he admires, you have to admit his latest faux pas is frightening: he failed to remember the name of one of the most dangerous people in the world:

He certainly puts the DUH back in dumb!

Republicans would love to do that here!

  1. 5:40  Pretty, but crazy-making.

Certainly nothing is so tiring as changes in routine.  Do rest.

New Yorker – Can't add anything, you and Andy have said it all.

YouTube – Well, doesn't that nail it!

DKos – We know Johnson wants to legalize marijuana, but if he uses, he's a piss-poor advertisement for it.

Cartoon – Always excepting police unions.  They want to keep those!  (And probably issue them white hoods; it would be appropriate.)

  2. NYer: Straight reporting, Andy!

YR: Love Bill. He says what I am thinking about DT.  "Facts?? Remember them? That's so old school!"

DK: He has a very bad case of CRS, don'tyathink? I do.

Sounds like you've had a very busy day especially with your new exercises. Enjoy your evening, take care, and thanks, Tom. Going to church early, we're @ the Vikings.

  3. It is beyond me why Gary Johnson is still in the race. I think he was smokin some good stuff lately!

    Dang, ANDY! Cold!

Bill Maher was absolutely FABULOUS last night! I loved every minute of it!

  4. New Yorker: Yeah, Andy, why are you parroting the bozos?  The country's mayor has really blown any legitimacy, kissing up to Lucifer's ass!

Bill Maher:  Sure, St. Reagan said it all: "Facts are just inconveniences!"

DK: Libertarians want no regulation…so does Monsanto, Mylan, Exxon…"What a wonderful world It will BE," not!

  5. The New Yorker:  This sounds exactly like something Guiliani would say!

Bill Maher:  Couldn't hear it, still having problems.

Daily Kos:  Seriously, this guy is running for President?

Cartoon:  Reagan started the destruction of unions and it has continued ever since.

  6. Puzzle — 3:44  No lilies thank you.  I'm still in the land of the living . . .

The New Yorker — I think Andy hit all the Drumpf talking points except sex, lies and emails.

Youtube — Drumpf has "…the impulse control of a grease fire."  This is one of Bill's funnest segments that I've seen.  He really nailed it!

Daily Kos — "Even Gary Johnson’s running mate [Bill Weld] says he’s going to dedicate his remaining time advocating for Hillary Clinton."  Gary Johnson makes Rick Perry look almost intelligent!

Cartoon — Lech Walesa  founded Solidarity, a Polish trade union.  It was outlawed 08/10/1980.  Interesting that Daddy Bush should award Walesa with the first Liberty Medal and the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1989.  A little incongruous to their stand on trade unions at home.

Rest and the Elipsoid Orb are all you should be concerned with on Sunday until maybe the 2nd debate.  Nap as you need to.  I slept or did some severe resting most of today.  Now I am wide awake . . . well starting to fade.  Enjoy Sunday!

  7. I hope the new set of exercises Courtney gave you, not only address the pressure on the end bone but also some of the phantom pain and itching you've been experiencing lately, TomCat. Have you received your new medication yet, by the way?

TNY: I couldn't agree more with you on this one, TomCat. I was too hasty in reading and had overlooked the The New Yorker tag, so I really thought it was an actual interview with Giuliani on Faux News until I spotted the "Trump surrogate". Too close to the truth to be parody, Andy, and not so funny because of it. This is exactly what Drumpf keeps hammering into the thick sculls of his followers.

DK: As Lynn already quoted: "Even Gary Johnson’s running mate says he’s going to dedicate his remaining time advocating for Hillary Clinton."That should tell you enough. Gary Johnson should stop partying all night and get himself a decent night of sleep for once. He looks and sounds like he's in real need of that. Better still: take himself out of the race and give Drumpf-refugees nowhere to go.

Cartoon: Well, Lech Wałęsa, the leader of  Solidarność, had his revenge, was elected to president of Poland and had the country transition from a centrally led (communistic) economy to a market economy and made the transition to establishment that usually goes with that. Now Poland's unions have little or no influence, but the Catholic Church all the more. The Republican Poles have been at the helm for some time now. Poland has the most restrictive abortion legislation in Europe and last week the government had to call off banning it completely because of the enormous opposition and demonstrations against the proposed law. Back to square one.

  8. I forgot to mention Bill Maher, too busy laughing 😉

  9. Thanks all!  Tired hugs!!
