Yesterday I was so busy and so tired that I had little time left for the Ellipsoid Orb, but I did check to seed that I’m getting my kitty-butt handed to me in fantasy football.  I napped an hour this morning, but still have had little sleep.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 2:57 (average 4:30).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Daily Kos: First, a brief recap on Speaker of the House Paul Ryan’s painful and pathetic history of dealing with the hatred and venom that Donald Trump spews on a regular basis:

  • When Trump refused to repudiate support from former KKK Grand Wizard David Duke, Ryan said that the GOP doesn’t “prey on people’s prejudices” … and still supported the Republican nominee.
  • When Trump called an Indiana-born judge unqualified because of his Mexican heritage, Ryan said the comment was “from left field” and that it was ”textbook racism” …  and still supported the Republican nominee.
  • When Trump called for a ban on Muslims coming into the country, Ryan said it was not “reflective of our principles, not just as a party, but as a country” … and still supported the Republican nominee.
  • When Trump attacked a Gold Star Family, Ryan said he “rejects this idea” … and still supported the Republican nominee.
  • When Trump suggested a “Second Amendment” remedy if Hillary Clinton is elected, Ryan said he was “too busy” to pay attention to Trump’s “jokes” … and still supported the Republican nominee.

And after that “joke,” Ryan was asked if there was anything that Trump could say that would cross the line and Ryan insisted that Trump doesn’t get a “blank check” and that “Where that line gets crossed, I don’t know where that is.”

Well, now we know

Click through to discover just what it would take to outrage a hypocritical Republican purveyor of hatred like lyin’ Ryan.

From The New Yorker: In a positive development for the Democratic nominee for President, a new poll released on Sunday reveals that likely voters find an unconscious Hillary Clinton “substantially more fit” to be President than a conscious Donald Trump.

In a hypothetical matchup between a Clinton who has been rendered completely unconscious and a fully sentient Trump, voters chose an inert Clinton over an ambulatory Trump by a margin of nine percentage points.

A spokesperson for the Clinton campaign hailed the findings. “We have every reason to believe that Hillary Clinton will be a fully conscious President,” the spokesperson said. “But even if she is not, she is still the far better choice.”

The same poll revealed that a broad majority of voters found an unconscious Donald Trump more fit to be President than a conscious one.

Dang, Andy!! A deceased dawg is more fit to be President than Rump Dump Trump!!  If Trump were running against a drunken macaque, that had  mange, BO and halitosis, and that masturbated in public and threw feces at passers by, I’d vote for the monkey!

From The Sun-Sentinel: After they stood by kneeling, after they spoke loudly saying nothing, long after four Miami Dolphins players became a national story by their protest during the national anthem, they were joined by a fifth Dolphin.

Steve Ross, the team owner, went up to safety Michael Thomas in the locker room and shook his hand.

"Let’s get ready to do something about this," he said, even in the emotionally crushing aftermath of the Dolphins’ season-opening loss to Seattle, 12-10.

Kudos. At the same time all the Seattle players linked arms during the anthem to signal their unified opposition to the protesting players. Damn Seachickens!!

  1. 5:02  I won't quibble about building and rebuilding not being quite the same.  A ship building yard should do both.

DKos – Yeah, saw this, not surprising – nothing that Trump could do – anything that Hillary might do outrages Ryan.

New Yorker – Priceless.  the thing about Andy's polls, though, is that they presume a much smarter electorate than the one we actually have.

I suppose everyone knows by now that Hillary was diagnosed on Friday with "walking pneumonia" – I could be more accurate but only a few would cae, and those few are knowledgeable enough to fill inthe blanks themselves.  Despite this diagnosis, and despite having some degree of anhidrosis chronically, she went to the memorial because she felt it important.  I feel that shows dedication, commitment, courage, and, perhaps above all stamina.

S-S – It certainly demonstrates that no one can predict what part of the country is going to show racism and what part of the country isn't.

Cartoon – Sailed down?  Not up?  Am I missing something?

  2. Back from my Illinois trip.  Mom’s macular degeneration is profound.  (She only gets the “E” on the Snellen chart correct because she knows it’s an “E”.  I know this because sometimes they’ll put up the giant “F” in its place, and she’ll still say “That’s an ‘E’”.)

But she’s had three eye scans in the past year, and there’s been no major change – so she only needs to come back PRN.

My High School Reunion was a lot more fun than I had anticipated.  But I only went to one “Pre-Party” on Friday.  It was basically for the group of friends who hung out in HS – so it was only ~ 50-60 of us.  (My class had 603)

The big bash on Saturday would be too unwieldy given my lack of hearing.

Went to the Jackson County Democratic Headquarters this morning and picked up some bumper stickers for Hillary/Kaine (2 for $5), a yard sign ($5) and free ones for our D governor and senator candidates.

I had ordered a magnetic one from HRC, but it’s still not here.  I also bought 2 “designer” T-shirts – but it’ll be a couple more weeks before they arrive.

    • We missed you, glad to see you back.  I am glad there are no major changes in you Mom's sight.   Isn't it amazing how quickly you can reconnect with people you went to school with, even though you have not seen them in years?  My class started having reunions every two years about 15 years ago after we realized so many of us were gone.  I really enjoy mine.  Of course, my graduating class only had 93 people.

    • Glad you are back safely, had a good time, and got some spiffy duds.

My HS graduating class had about 350 people, and I hung out with three.I'll stay home, thanks.  I suppose some of them are already planning the 60th.

    • Good to see you back, Nameless, and with such stylish garb too. Suits Clinton to a Tee (shirt), and several grades up from the garish, though suitable, rubbish Drumpf sells to promote himself.

    • Glad to see you're back, safe and sound Nameless!  You are a good son to attend to your mother's needs.  I told my mother that I would walk with her during her journey, but I drew the line at powdering her bumb like she did mine when I was a baby.

Know what you mean about reunions.  This year is the 45th and there is supposed to be a big shindig, but not for our class specifically.  The high school, Georges P Vanier in North York (Toronto) is 50 years old this year.  I'm an introvert so as much as I'd like to catch up with some people, it would be exhausting.  Anyway, it is too far away.  If I do go to my 50th, I combine it with a family visit.  I'll have to shave my Sasquatch legs for that one though!

    • Welcome home!!  You're a good son!  I'm pleased her vision is no worse than before.  I had to look up PRN.

I'm glad you enjoyed your 50th.  Mine was this year too, but it was 3,000 miles away, and I had neither the physical capability, nor the funds to attend.

      Neat Ts!

  3. DK: Ryan: Does the obligatory talk, but not the walk. What an ID.

NYer: Read this yesterday, LOL.!! Thanks, Andy for a laugh!

SS: Kudos for bringing about awareness. I hope it spreads.

Gotta run. Helping tonight at school. Hope that you have a good evening, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

*Nameless: Hope your mom w/be okay. Glad your trip went well, I like the shirts too!!

  4. Daily Kos:  Ryan is such a wuss!  He wants to keep his job as Speaker, so of course he is not going to oppose Trump.  Hillary is free rein for both Republicans and most of our media.  I am sick to death of the coverage of her health issues.  Anyone with a brain could understand the exhaustion she has to feel  after a grueling campaign.  I was disappointed with Anderson Cooper, he is not as bad usually as the rest on CNN.  Trump gets a free ride from most of the media, he gets ratings.

The New Yorker: Love Andy, and I, too, would vote for the monkey.

The Sun Sentinel:  I say, kudos to Ross.  He can be a voice for change.  No one complains when fans at football games are drinking beer, sitting, talking while the flag is raised and the anthem is played. Why all the grief now when a player and now players protest inequality and racial injustice?

Cartoon:  And the indigenous people soon wished he had never done that!

  5. Puzzle — 3:17  My boat didn't float!

Daily Kos — When all is said and done, Lyin' Ryan is still a Republican! . . . no ethics, no morals.

The New Yorker — Too funny!  Yeh, I'd go with the monkey too!

The Sun-Sentinel — "Kaepernick has been deliberately not standing at NFL games during the national anthem of the United States because of the history of racial oppression in the country, and more specifically the recent spate of unarmed black men killed under suspicious circumstances." — http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/colin-kaepernick-national-anthem-protest-catches-nfl-n646671  — The protests have grown.  Kudos to Steve Ross for standing for equality and justice with the players.

Cartoon — Following that feat, Hudson headed north to the Arctic.  From Wikipedia  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hudson_Bay

"English explorers and colonists named Hudson Bay after Sir Henry Hudson who explored the bay beginning August 2, 1610 on his ship Discovery.[12]:170 On his fourth voyage to North America, Hudson worked his way around Greenland's west coast and into the bay, mapping much of its eastern coast. Discovery became trapped in the ice over the winter, and the crew survived onshore at the southern tip of James Bay. When the ice cleared in the spring, Hudson wanted to explore the rest of the area, but the crew mutinied on June 22, 1611. They left Hudson and others adrift in a small boat. No one knows the fate of Hudson or the crew members stranded with him, but historians see no evidence that they survived for long afterwards."

    Henry sure did get around!

  6. Those phantom pains are taking longer than usual to lessen a bit this time, aren't they, TomCat? I hope a solution is found soon, because stuck between that pain & itching and Republicans & the election you must be going out of your mind from irritation. I know I would.

DK: The thin line Paul Ryan's drawn for Drumpf not to cross is located several miles below the earth's surface, somewhere around the place pseudo-Christians like Ryan think the gates of Hell are located. He's going to support Drumpf until he's defeated in the election. Then Ryan's going to make a spin so fast, denying he ever supported Drumpf, not seen in these realms before either.

TNY: Splendid! Andy sure knows to pick the questions for his polls. I just love the way people prefer an unconscious Clinton to a conscious Drumpf, but even prefer a unconscious Drumpf to a conscious one. LMAO.

SS: Apparently the NFL games have become a political battlefield too. I don't think America has seen this divisiveness since the 1950'-60's. Let's hope the current protests lead to the same or even better changes they did then.

  7. Thanks all!!  Hugs!!

  8. DK: Ryan has no shame.

New Yorker: So, would one call a cadaverous Rump a side of beef?  And salute it, ather than a breathing one?  YUP!
