Even though it’s been cooler since yesterday, the building’s brick face continues to radiate heat inward, but I did nap for a couple hours this morning and hope to do so again this afternoon.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:28 (average 7:12).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From KP Daily Funnies: John Oliver on Journalism

Although John is quite funny, he does make a good point. Since 2013, when the corporate oligopoly that had bought the paper gutted it, the Oregonian has gone downhill. For Oregon journalism, I now prefer Willamette Week.

From Willamette Week: Republican presidential nominee Donald J. Trump will make a fundraising stop in Portland at the end of August, The Washington Post reports.

The Post, citing sources near the Trump campaign, says Trump will make a west-coast swing on Aug. 29-31, with visits to San Francisco, Seattle and Portland.

Trump’s Oregon Campaign Manager Jacob Daniels confirms to WW that Trump will make stops here, but declined to confirm the exact dates.

AAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!

It will take weeks to wash away his slime! Sick smile

From Daily Kos: Trump’s big line is he should be president because he is a successful businessman. After reading this devastating Newsweek story, no Trump apologist can ever say that again.

The story goes through the bankruptcies of course, but there are defaults, people ripped off, and lie upon lie upon lie upon lie.

My favorite stuff from the article:

  • Trump lied to Congress.
  • Trump was publicly insulting Native Americans while other real business people were making deals to help manage their casinos.
  • Trump signed a deal with one Native American casino, and they paid him $6 million to go away.
  • Trump punched his second grade teacher
  • Trump lied in his books, then blamed the same woman he blamed for Melania Trump’s plagiarized speech.
  • Trump lied in a filing with a bank where he was trying to get a loan about how much he was worth.
  • Trump lied about how much money he got from his dad.
  • Trump’s dad gave him illegal loans by taking cash to his casino, turning it over at a craps table, loading up a suitcase with $5,000 chips, and leaving.
  • Trump’s earliest deals all lost money and he only did well when his dad guaranteed loans.
  • Trump spent $1 million per plane to turn a shuttle into a luxury trip that no one wanted to take. The planes were only worth $4 million each.

He really is a perfect match for Republican Reich Rectumites.

  1. 5:12 (7:12)  We've seen this one before, and it hasn't gotten one bit easier.

Roots Action has a couple of petitions, both related to videotaping police actions, but with different circumstances..
    http://diy.rootsaction.org/petitions/north-carolina-body-cam-law-breaches-trust-and-transparency-in-local-communities
    http://diy.rootsaction.org/petitions/drop-charges-against-ramsey-orta-filmmaker-of-eric-garner-s-murder-by-staten-island-police
The second one is a classic whistleblower situation.

John – Always funny, always right on, always uses analogy and exaggeration to pack a real punch.  I have been noticing for several years now how much harder it is to find a news outlet that I can trust.

WW – He was here last week, he got stuck in an elevator, he was rescued by our Fire Department, he got to his rally, and started his speech by insulting the Fire Department for not letting him exceed the safe occupancy of the building.  Sigh.  Good luck with the slime.

DKos – If he were a successful businessman, he wouldn't even be running for President, because (a) he"d be making too much money to want to take the loss, and (b) he'd be well aware thet successful business techniques don't work in government.  The quintessential Republican, yes.  Successful businessman, no.

Cartoon – You can tell it's Republican by the clothes.  Democrats aren't that dressy by nature.

  2. WRT your Cartoon – Sorry, but not for one second do I believe that's a "Republican Town Hall Meeting"

There's NOT ONE white sheet with a pointy-headed hood in sight!

  3. KP Funnies: John is spot on! Love his show.

WW: Wearing a HazMat suit is recommended….noxious fumes/matter will abound.

DK: What Dave said. He's a liar, and much, much more. Ugh!!

We're in the 100's all week long. No humidity, but scorching hot. Enjoy your evening, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

  4. My lugage still hasn't arrived (aaarrrgggghh), so I'm borrowing my hubby's laptop, but the connection is terrible today, so in addition to no videos as usual when I'm here, this'll have to be a brief comment altogether.
Glad you got some sleep, TomCat, because I can't promis you any new naps any time soon 🙁

KPDF: Gggrrr, can't view John Oliver's video.

WW: Don't worry, TomCat, Drumpf has not confiremed any dates, and by the time he was supposed to appear in Portland, he'll have changed his mins again, as usual, and think up some stupid excuse not to go where he's not wanted anyway.

DK: Sadly no Drumpf supporter will read Newsweek, or Daily Kos, for that matter. This only confirms what we have known all along: Drumpf has a severe narcisistic personality disorder and is a compulsive liar to boot.

Cartoon: No, wrong picture, this looks much too orderly 😉

  5. Them looks like some of my kinfolks in that picture! Seriously! Na. But that's about their speed. They are all Reich Rectumites! Can't even have a family get together in election years!

D.K.: That was FANFRIKKENTASTIC!!! I needed that to get to some of the people I love around! Oklahoma is FULL of them!

    • Hope you make it thru the Rump Dump Festival up your way! The slime will be terrible, so stay inside till they get the carp off the streets! Wouldn't want to soil George's foot on that stinky stuff!

  6. Puzzle — 4:12  Just a tad crunchie if you're planning on eating this Puddy Tat.  On the other paw, would be great for setting a romantic ambience when sharing some Fancy Feast with your favourite Miss Kitty!

KP Daily Funnies — John is always funny making salient points.  Print journalism is expensive and as such, relies more and more on advertising revenues to pay the bills.  That in itself can set up a "quid pro quo" situation (think advertisers fleeing Limbaugh type situation or major corporations buying the news) that could influence the flow of information.  Even the digital system is subject to the same influences.  Finding a reliable source of information is always a challenge.

Willamette Weekly — Maybe if you're lucky, this will be another Drumpf lie and you'll be spared the slimemeister cleanup.

Daily Kos — I read the Newsweek article that forms the basis for the Daily Kos piece.  Drumpf is a fraudster and pathological liar that needs to go to prison for his misdeeds, not to the White House where he can continue to defraudAmerican taxpayers.  No wonder that the Huffington Post places the following editor's not at the end of every Drumpf article:

Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liarrampant xenophoberacistmisogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims — 1.6 billion members of an entire religion — from entering the U.S.

Cartoon — LOL!  They want small government . . . no revenoors!

  7. KP Daily Funnies:  Oliver is right.  Almost all newspapers, as well as tv and radio stations are owned by hUUUge corporations, thus aiding in the dumbing down of America, because the only news we get is what corporate America wants us to get.

Daily Kos:  I shared this one, but my red friends will just insist it is rigged, cannot believe how gullible people are.

Cartoon:  Please, my moonshining ancestors would faint if they thought they were being compared to Trump and the GOP.  LOL>

  8. Thanks all!  Hugs!!
