Now that Hillary Clinton has formally accepted the Democratic nomination, the glass ceiling has cracked.  For the first time in History, a woman is the presidential nominee of a major political party.  I watched her speech last night.  I didn’t expect to agree with everything she said.  I thought the speech was too long, and before it was over, I couldn’t help thinking about how eight years of Obama speeches gives Hillary an impossible act to follow.  Here it is in its entirety.

It certainly was infinitely better than anything Rump Dump Trump and his Rectumites have ever said.

  1. I heard about the last 45 minutes of it, and I was pleased with it.  I agreed with a lot of it.  Of course it wasn't as moving as, for instance, her introduction of Khizr Khan (and it was a lot longer), but she was trying to cover so much.  I think the passion is there.

Thank you for letting me once again share this link:  http://wtfhashillarydone.com/

  2. The convention for the Democratic party was so GOOD! At least I didn't feel like just going on and shooting myself after watching it!! There is HOPE!!!

  3. I thought that she gave a very good rousing speech! and hit all the good points of what she will do as POTUS.

    Thanks, Tom.

  4. All the speeches were too long, but I think part of that is we are all getting used to everything moving fast.

I enjoyed her speech more than I thought I would.

  7. Our media went with headings like: "Clinton managed to reach the mind more than the heart", and while that may not appeal to many Americans, especially not Drumfians, it does appeal to the (almost Skandinavian) level-headedness of the Dutch. I prefer a rational, cool-and-collected stable mind over and emotional, unpredicatable borderliner as head of any nation any time. I'm an old fashioned feminist, but when it comes to leading one of the most influencial nations in the world, I would certainly hope Americans chose the BEST person in all aspects for the job, irrespective of color, gender, creed or sexual preference.

Cracking a ceiling is not enough, eight years of Congress blocking Obama in almost everything he did should have taught Americans that. Voting for Hillary Clinton just because she's a woman with the expectation that everything will get better for women nationwide when she becomes head of state, is not enough either. Vote for Hillary Clinton because she is now your best chance of turning American politics around on important issues that matter to ALL Americans and away from sexism, racism, xenophobia, isolationism, religious intolerance, homophobia, inequality on all levels….and away from fear and hate, and give her the backing she needs in Congress. Because if she's stuck with a Republican dominated congress, she won't be allowed to accomplish anything.

    • Lona: I like your second paragraph of your comment.

Our country cannot afford to waste time and energy with the GOP/TP obstructionism anymore.

One Republican in Congress is one too many. Vote them out!

      Vote Blue, no matter who.

    • You and Jim are both right on.  Of course we are not always (if ever) going to get "the best" person because "the best" person will not be on the ballot (true in every election – and I suspect the very best person would always turn out to be someone no one ever heard of who therefore could not possibly be on the ballot.)  But it is possible to vote for the best person who can possibly get elected.  You go to war with the candidate you have, not the one you wish you had.

    • That's a good way of putting it.  Obama always reaches both.

      Amen to the rest.

    • Lona, Jim, and Joanne all hit it on the head.  I terms of the "best" person, take a look at Joseph heller's "The Breakfast of Champions."  In this novel, the best people for the job, want nothing to do with it.  A committee is set up every 4 years, to search out whomever that is, and that person is dragged, kicking and screaming, to have the oath of office administered…then going on to do the job!

  8. Thanks all!  Hugs!!

  9. I saw a bunch of he speech, and liked what I heard.  I think that hr not quite going emotional may have been good, in a way, so that the critics can not jump on the old idea of a woman being too emotional for the position. I recall how Hubert Humphrey's chances were hurt by his becoming teary in a public setting.

BLUE ALL THE WAY DOWN THE TICKET!!!!!!!!!
