I have a confession to make.  Last night I was very tired.  During and after supper, I sat in my wheelchair and watched the Democratic National Convention.  I was bored with many of the earlier speakers, but I recognize that in a big tent party, they have to give moderate speakers some time too.  But I was nodding off, before the three main speakers spoke.   I vaguely remember Joe Biden being introduced.  I opened my eyes, and it was after Midnight.  So the speeches I’m posting for you are speeches I haven’t seen, and I’ll leave the evaluation to you.

Joe Biden:

Tim Kaine:

Barack Obama:

What say you?

  1. So far I have only listened to Joe.  I thought he was tremendous.  I identify strongly with the middle class ethos, the not being sophisticated, the common touch, if you will, but it's not a "touch," it's genuine.  And I thought he pesented that, and presented it well.

But I have every confidence in President Obama as one of history's greatest speakers.  And no. I don't know what to expect from Kaine.  But I have time to find out.

  2. The reviews I read indicated they all included neocon/neoliberal war hawk statements about Russia, which won't help the ability to negotiate peace in Syria.

  3. I forget where or what I was doing, but I watched/listened to President Obama's fantastic speech, Lord, love this President, I'm going to miss him.
Will have to listen/watch the others when I get a chance.

    Thanks, Tom.

  4. There were a variety of speakers speaking on a variety of topics throughout the 4 days of speakers. Some were with amateurs who, speaking to a large crowd, did quite well. Others were speakers who have spoken to large crowds before. Some were slow, halting, guarded and sensitive. Some were firebrands, dynamic.

The Democrats did so much better than the GOP ever could. The Demos were positive, full of hope, love, togetherness; GOP'ers were negative, full of hate, fear, lies and discord.

As for the best speaker at the DNC, I'll leave it up to readers in here and to other critics, professionals and the common persons. Obama was excellent. As for me, this one by Bloomberg stood out as did many others.

An Outsider – Former Mayor of New York Michael R. Bloomberg speaks at the Democratic National Convention

"… must defeat a dangerous demigod."
"I'm a New Yorker and I know a con when I see one".
"The richest thing about Donal Trump is his hypocrisy".

  5. I watched almost all of it.  Joe Biden, in my opinion, did an excellent job. Kaine did a good job of introducing himself, I liked his demeanor.  As always, President Obama showed grace and class.

  6. I haven't watched Kaine yet, but Biden and Obama were excellent!  I could feel the electricity in the room.  And Bloomberg certainly burned Drumpf.  I'd like to be a fly on the wall of Drumpf's office to hear his rejoinders.  My guess, Drumpf will be all over Twitter.

  7. Thanks for posting, TomCat. I'm a bit short on time, but will try to squeeze them in soon.

  8. Thanks all!!  Hugs!

  9. I just watched Corey Booker, and Bernie's speeches, and I think they were both great, Cory being a bit much on the hyperbole side.  Bernie is the only one I've seen talk directkly to the SCOTUS issue!!  Having seen Bernie speak, I have more trouble now, than previously, with those of his supporters who want to go 3rd party!  This election is too damned important.  We are on the knife edge of moving forward, with Hillary, or moving into chaos.
