Yesterday’s appointment with my Prosthetist went, well.  George seems more stable and my knee is healing.  When I returned home, I tackled that insurance snafu.  The fifth person to whom I spoke was the Billing Manager of the Radiation Oncologist, whose bill had been denied.  He said that they do have an approved referral, that there must be an error in the paperwork, and that he will get it approved.  That was almost painless.  Then I had to attend a community meeting  for Fair Market residents in my building.  And then I watched the convention.  That made George very nervous, and I has to assure him that this one is completely different from Rump Dump and his Rectumites.  Other than my normal chores, I have no more appointments this week.  That’s a good thing because it’s very hot and muggy.  Temperatures in the high 80°s and low 90°s are forecast for the next ten days and the humidity is sitting at 77%.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:50 (average 5:40).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Raw Story: [B]ernie Sanders fired up his supporters at the Democratic National Convention on Monday afternoon — until he mentioned the need to elect Hillary Clinton.

While Sanders drew cheers when he trashed Donald Trump during his address, the audience erupted into boos when he said that “we have got to elect Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine.”

How disgusting! If those regressives truly backed Bernie, they would follow his lead, not boo him for telling the truth. Shame on those hypocrites!

From YouTube (MoveOn): Party of Trump: David Duke, KKK and White Supremacy

Barf Bag Alert!!

What’s the different between the GOP and KKK? Anymore, not a damn thing!!

From Salon.com: Comedian Sarah Silverman took the stage at the Democratic National Convention and announced that she “feels the Bern — but not to worry, she put some cream on it.” She later attacked those who, unlike her, refused to recognize that they’d be betraying what Sanders stood for if they don’t support Clinton.

Clearly frustrated by the chorus of boos and shouts from Sanders supporters, Silverman snapped: “Can I just say to the ‘Bernie or Bust’ people — you’re being ridiculous.”

That may be the best line to date.

From Miami Herald: After quitting her national Democratic Party leadership role amid furor over thousands of leaked emails, U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz now faces the political battle of her lifetime back home in South Florida.

Wasserman Schultz resigned as Democratic National Committee chairwoman Sunday, strengthening the hand of her primary opponent, Tim Canova — who saw a huge fundraising boost and national media attention following her decision.

While the Weston congresswoman spent Monday morning getting heckled by protesters in Philadelphia at her first public appearance since her resignation, Canova was in the district giving interviews to local TV stations, Univision and The Daily Beast — and meeting with constituents.

In light of recent events, I fully endorse Tim Canova for Congress, and feel we should urge Jo Biden to cancel his planned fundraising event on behalf of Wasserman Schultz.  I trust the petition mavens among you will find the links for that.  There should be no place in the Democratic Party for Debbie Wasserman Schultz.

  1. 4:58 (5:20)  Useful if you need more iron in your diet, I suppose.

Hoo boy.  77% humidity in Portland is wetter than here (we have thinner air).  Hang in there – take care of yourself.

Raw Story – I saw this in Daily Kos this morning – http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/7/26/1552570/-You-say-you-want-a-revolution-but-my-son-will-die  and I have to say that these people booing Bernie are Bernie supporters like Republicans are Christians.  They may call themselves Bernie supporters.  I could call myself a pine tree, but it wouldn't make me one.  Hanky alert on the Kos story, by the way.

YouTube – You are right on there. No difference any more.

Salon – And there you have it.  So sad!

Miami Herald – Canova's a bit of a hawk, but at least he's a hawk who listens to people.  I'll look for petitions.  Don't have any right now.

Cartoon – Republicans are certainly doing their best to destroy it.  http://agrandalliance.org/ is where all the people and groups trying to save it are now located.  You are invited.

    • Well, unless Jim can find a petition, it looks like we have three choices – wait a few days for one to surface, start our own, or write individual letters.  If we, or some of us, decide to go with individual letters, this would be the way to send them:

      https://www.whitehouse.gov/contact

(Use the drop down menu to select Joe.)

I really am clueless on what would be the best and most effectve way to deliver a petition.  But if someone wants to cope with that, I will sign.

  2. YouTube: Very scary, indeed!!!!

    Salon: Yikes!!

MI: If you find a petition, Joanne, please send them my way, thx.

    Cartoon: So signed!!

You sure had a very busy day! Glad your knee is healing, and that George is okay. We actually got rain last night, and more scheduled for this evening too! YAY! Enjoy the rest of your day, and Thanks, Tom.

  3. 3:49  I thought I finished at 3:42 but the clock was still running.  The last piece in hadn't quite caught but at least I still beat the Puddy Tat, my arch nemesis puzzler.  No lead, or iron, in my ass!

  4. Without a doubt, Bernie has his priorities correct!

Some of his BoB (Bernie or Bust) supporters?  Not so much.

Heading out tomorrow, but will look forward to your keeping tabs on how Trump and particularly his money is tied to Putin – and the impact of that on When, Where, Why and How of the WikiLeaks.

Where's Anrea (nee Mitchell) Greenspan w/ her endless "Drip – Drip – Drip" of the Benghazi nothing-burger now that's there's a REAL story?  Anyone?  Anyone?  Bueller?

  5. Puzzle — 3:49  I thought I finished at 3:42 but the clock was still running.  The last piece in hadn't quite caught but at least I still beat the Puddy Tat, my arch nemesis puzzler.  No lead, or iron, in my ass!

Raw Story — Principles are great, but in reality, the principle encapsulated in Bernie or Bust is a blind principle.  Bernie put it well when he said "This is the real world that we live in." in response to the booing.  I hope that Bernie supporters figure out fast that Drumpf is a dangerous individual and the left cannot afford any divisions, because just like  shit spreads everywhere, so does Drumpf.  He'll use anything to create division.  Pardon my rather graphic simile, but with Drumpf it seems appropriate.

Youtube — At the part where Drumpf says "I am your voice!", I had shivers up and down my back.  Look at film of Hitler during the 30's and you will see the same body language, the same gesticulation, the same tone of voice.  Very scary!

Salon.com — Sarah Silverman rocks and she is correct.  Bernie or Bust people, don't cut off your nose to spite your face.  I love Bernie too!  He would be my first choice, but it is important to acknowledge reality.  He has come much further than anyone thought possible.  That is reason to celebrate and to keep building on his contributions.  Change takes time but Bernie has moved change forward.

Miami Herald — A note to Debbie Wasserman Schultz — Don't let the door hit you where the good Lord split you!  She has been very divisive.  I don't think she could repair her reputation within the party.

Cartoon — Republicans destroy everything they touch!

We had 77% humidity this morning too but it has since dropped to about 54%.  It is still damn hot.  Even the bed linens are damp from the humidity and heat.

  6. Glad you got your insurance snafu straightened out.  Oregon and Kentucky's weather is in sync.  We have had six days of ninieties with 75% humidity, making the temps equal 100 plus.

Raw Story:  I know these people are upset and disillusioned.  I know I am, but they need to respect Bernie's wishes, and for the good of out country, make sure that Trump is not elected.

YouTube:  With the rampant racism venting its spleen the way it is now, Duke might get elected.

Salon.com:  They booed Silverman, too.  We need unity now, not "if I don't get what I want, I won't play."

Miami Herald:  I agree, there should be no place in the Democratic party for Shultz, but she was given a new position today by Hillary Clinton.  I listened to Thom Hartman's show today, and they were speculating whether the new job was a way to keep her from handling the gavel at the convention as she swore she would do.

Cartoon:  The US Postal Service is the only government agency that has been self supporting.  The bill passed that required them to pay their pension plans 75 years in advance has bankrupted the agency.  My mother's post office is only open four hours per day now, and it is the hub of the little town she lives in, always crowded with people talking to each other..

  7. definition of regressive from Oxford:
    philosophy
proceeding from effect to cause or from particular to universal.

Urban dictionary actually seems to mean you TC and not Bernie supporters by that term:
     Regressive
"Liberal who believes s/he is a progressive, however their ideas are backward, lacking enlightenment. Regressive's believe their ideas are forward thinking and evolutionary however the ideology lacks moral guidance, invoke divisiveness, and is plagued with narrow mindedness. The existence an alternate ideology is unacceptable to a regressive.
Lacking the mental capacity to accept freedom of religion, his regressive ideology finds acceptance of a religious freedom for an employer unacceptable. "
    http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=regressive

Remember Clinton defined progressive as someone who made progress LOL…

Nazis do what their political leader tells them to do, not progressives where their leader says they are the important ones.

Clinton immediately thanked DWS and made her honorary chairman of her 50 state campaign–that's how Clinton feels about what DWS did–the most welcome behavior to her for in Her party apparently.

  8. Glad you got George and the paperwork sorted and both were almost painless, TomCat. I'm sure the billing manager sees this happening all the time and will now make sure the bill is approved and settled, but it must have been a nuisance to get all these different people on the phone and having to repeat your problem over and over again until you finally hit the jackpot. Now go and take it easy in that oppressing heat.

RS: With friends (or supporters) like that, who needs enemies? How disgraceful of the "Bernie or Bust" supporters to boo the man that has fought so hard, who has changed so much and will continue to do so after the election. He hasn't done it for personal glory like some, but for the benefit of the country and to make America a better and a more progressive place, and for exactly those reasons endorses Hillary Clinton now. America is going to be a better and safer place if she becomes president than when Drumpf hijacks his throne, and nobody is more aware of that than Bernie. Being booed loudly for doing the right thing for America by standing with Hillary, uniting the Democratic party, and asking  his supporters to do the same, is something Bernie did not deserve. Shame on those who stooped so low.

MoveOn: A White Supremacist and KKK leader, inspired by Drumpf, running for office, contending that his platform is now mainstream Republican? And the terrifying thing about it is that David Duke is right: it has become mainstream. And even more terrifying is that Bernie is booed by some of his supporters when he asks them to vote for Hillary. I'm past past barf bags, because you're starting to scare the s$%t out of me, America.

Salon.com: Why is it that comedians are so much better at describing the heart of the matter in a few words? Spot-on, Sarah Silverman.

MH: Apparently Debbie Wasserman Schultz doesn't know what's good for her and will not bow out gracefully. It's up to the Democrats in South Florida to make her "see the light" and give Tim Canova their vote. Joe Biden should let her rest in the grave she dug for herself, no speeches or flowers, please. I do hope Hillary doesn't make her head of her campaign, but gives her some minor job. Giving Schulz too much importance will only hinder her campaign and will keep the rumors from Republicans and die-hard BoBers coming.

  9. Thanks all!!  Hugs!

  10. Glad things seem to be going better for you and George!
