I’m running way late today, because, after sleeping poorly last night, I overslept.  Then I did my research, and I needed a nap,.  After lunch, I restocked my pill box.  It took almost an hour, which is frustrating, as it was a ten minute job, when I could see well.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:09 (average 4:42).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From The New Yorker: Governor Chris Christie, of New Jersey, angrily refused to pick up Donald Trump’s dry cleaning during a tense encounter between the two men on Friday, campaign sources confirm.

The ugly scene unfolded at the billionaire’s offices in midtown Manhattan, shortly after Trump revealed that his Vice-Presidential pick would be Governor Mike Pence of Indiana.

According to Trump aides, Christie stomped into the presumptive Republican nominee’s office and hurled a dry-cleaning ticket onto his desk, telling Trump, “You can pick up your own damn dry cleaning.”

The New Jersey governor then stormed out, and has not been seen by Trump or his staffers since.

Knowing PIGnocchio as we do, there is no reason to suspect Andy of using satire.

From Media Matters:Former Donald Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski is still being paid by the presumptive GOP presidential nominee’s campaign while simultaneously drawing a salary as a CNN contributor to discuss the candidate on-air, according to the network.

CNN anchor Chris Cuomo and host Don Lemon noted that Lewandowski is “still receiving severance from the Trump campaign” while introducing him in July 11 and July 12 segments.

That takes media bias to an unprecedented level.

From NY Times: Within four hours of the attack on the French Riviera, Donald J. Trump pledged to seek a rare declaration of war from Congress against Islamic terrorists and called for “extreme vetting” of immigrants and a complete ban on those from “terrorist nations.”

Minutes later, two finalists to be Mr. Trump’s running mate began weighing in. Newt Gingrich proposed a loyalty test for American citizens who are Muslim and deporting those who believe in Shariah law, while Gov. Mike Pence of Indiana, referring to terrorism, called for America to “defeat this enemy of civilization at its source.”

In my coverage of this yesterday, I also assumed it was a terrorist attack, like most of us did, but I acted responsibly. Instead of placing blame, before the facts were in, I suggested positive ways that the US can mitigate how we exacerbate the problem.  In stark contrast, the presumptive Rectum an d presumptive Vice Rectum of the Republican Party  blamed and called for retribution against all religious Muslims for the actions of a secular down-and-out loser.

  1. 4:48  DYCs.

New Yorker – Funnily enough, this is how working women have been treated for what seems like centuries.  Between that, and the abortive TP logo, it makes one wonder ….

MM – He wouldn't be able to collect unemployment while receiving severance.  A new employer can choose how to handle it – but he probably ewouldn't work without pay.  Isn't it odd how it's the government that gets accused of giving away "free stuff"?

NYTimes – Well, TC, I can't improve on your analysis.

Cartoon – and certainly not to anyone else!

  2. NYer: How funny!! LOL.

MM: I used to watch CNN, but I don't now. Must be nice getting two paychecks, and of all people too!

NYT: Good Lord, what hateful bigots!!

    Cartoon: Yep!!

Hope that you get a good night's sleep. Enjoy your evening, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

  3. Filling a pill job is a pretty big job sometimes.  It takes me about 20 minutes to do my Mother's.

The New Yorker:  I have no doubt that Christie would have picked up Trump's laundry if he thought it would get him the VP post.

Media Matters:  That is surely a conflict of interest for a supposedly even handed news station, as they like to portray themselves.  They have givenTrump plenty of free publicity, but this is a new low.

NY Times:  And that behavior will get them more votes from the right wing, calculated?

Cartoon:  We do, and will continue to do it until we clean house in Congress.

  4. Puzzle — 3:30  Pretty, but edible?

The New Yorker — Andy, Andy, Andy.  You're do straight reporting again!

Media Matters — And the right wing says there is a liberal bias in the media?!  I don't think so.  Lewandowski, like Trump, is ethically challenged.  Shame on CNN for allowing this to on.  They should clawback that pay.

NY Times — This kind of rhetoric and behaviour is precisely what eggs ISIS on and gives the US the worst reputation in the world for being bullies.  If Drumpf and his minions had an once of common sense among them, it would be 10,000 times more than what they display.  The devastation Drumpf would inflict on the US and the world would many times the size of the destruction of Hiroshuima by the atomic bomb.

Cartoon — May that end 08/11/2016!

VOTE BLUE ALL DOWN THE LINE!!!

Ah, the pill box!  I do 2 weeks at a time and it takes me about 30 minutes including interruptions by furbabes.  I used to do one month at a time, but some of my little boxes weren't big enough.  I use individual metal boxes so I can easily carry one in my purse if I need to.  It's not my favourite job, but laundry is worse!

  5. Filling the pill box seems quite a frustrating challenge if you don't see well, TomCat. I hope you don't drop any pills, because with your sight as it is at the moment, it must be nearly impossible to find them again. My brother used to prepare my mother's pill box, but even when he set the alarms for her, she still forgot to take some of them at certain times so her pharmacist prepared and packaged her prescriptions for her automatically into a roll of little labeled satchels with all the pills for a time of day sealed in together (she had to take a different set of pills at different times of the day). She then only had to tear off a new satchel and take all the pills that were in it when her alarm literally told her to tdo so. It worked like a treat.

MM: Where I live we call that "infiltration".

    n
TNY: Andy's telling it like it is again. It was plain to see that Drumpf had PIGnocchio kissing his a$$, all for some vague promises. It only goes to show how dumb PIGnocchio really is. Did he really expect that Drumpf would ever stick to a promise he never intended to keep? Drumpf would never allow a second man around him that is his twin in character and behavior. Loud-mouthed, thin-skinned, wheeling-and dealing, narcissistic bully PIGocchio would stop sucking up to Drumpf the minute he was picked for VP and start to do things his way.

NY Times: Well, this time the French didn't need the help of America to go overboard on this. Within hours, president Hollande stated that the French wouldn't bow down to terrorist attacks by Da'esh and it would now intensify their attacks on them in Iraq and Syria (where they assist the allied forces in bombing Da'esh). Critics have already accused Hollande of the Bush-like war rhetoric after 9/11 that made matters only worse. Hollande has been under attack a lot lately, so in a way this kind of aggressive talk in order to come across like a strong man in such sad times, is foolish yet to be expected from leader of a country so hard hit by these terrible attacks. America, i.e. Republicans like Drumpf and his ilk, however is using another man's already loosely fabricated stick to beat up a group of people who have nothing to do with what is happening in France only to further their own political agenda. And that is sickening.

An additional note: France's officials are now hell bent on proving that "the secular down-and-out loser" as you call him, TomCat, was indeed a Da'esh soldier, despite expert psychologist and psychiatrist putting forward that he was a psychological unstable and very depressed man who at most has used Da'esh ideas as an excuse for what he did, or that other terrorist attacks have triggered him in some way. The police have arrested another two people, a man and a woman, in connection to the attack. The 'truck full of weapons and munition' described yesterday, turned out to be one gun, two fake guns and one grenade that didn't work. It seems that Da'esh is running out of weapons and explosives to arm their soldiers with (snark).

Cartoon: And how well they fare!

  6. New Yorker:  I hope that this is the last time I will have to see PIGnocchio's name in print, at least until the obituary.  Hell, I can dream, can't I?

MM: Perhaps it is time to to trot out the old Reaganish meme about the "Welfare Queen" in regard to Lewandowsky.  However, yes, it is not "gov'm't" money he's double dipping into.  I have a hard time understanding why the republican sheeple can not recognize the hypocrisy of their shepards.  Though I did watch a TED talk, yesterday, about why people think they are right even when thy are demonstrably wrong: when faced with information that runs contrary to their dearly held beliefs they go into defense/ offence mode. like a "Warrior," rather   than take an interest in gathering in new information, as a "Scout" who wants info. for its own sake, or to power rational decision making might.  This is not a new idea, but it is stated in a new way.  Steven covey, in "The 7 Habits of Successful People," refers to people listening to contrary ideas for some 3 seonds, before going into defence layer mode, and simply preparing their rebuttals in their heads.

NY T: Clowns acting just like their newest hero of the moment, Putin, might!  I still do not buy the idea that this was a terrorist attack, just because ISIL has said so.  I think they might just be jumping on an easy opportunity to take credit for a crazy's action.  Just like Rumpy might say, "See, Itold you so!" if one Mexican, out of milliions, ever gets convicted of rape…an act that no Gringo would ever contemplate, of course.  Unless there is something in the way of corroboration that I've not come across.

  7. Thanks all!!  Very pooped hugs!!
