I’m expecting Wendy momentarily to shine and polish the TomCat, but I may as well get what I can done before she gets here.  She got here, so I’m clean and my floors are done.  It hasn’t been hot here, but the mugginess sure makes up for it.  Today is a grocery delivery day.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:03 (average 4:07).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Daily Kos: Former Republican congressman Joe Walsh was quick to become, in the wake of the Dallas mass murder, one of the worst human beings on Twitter. For his tweet: "This is now war. Watch out Obama. Watch out black lives matter punks. Real America is coming after you" he was temporarily suspended from Twitter—but was quickly rewarded with an invitation to appear on CNN.

Because, apparently, of all the individuals in all of America who might have insights into the shooting, CNN decided that his "analysis" was the one they wanted to run with.

Shame on CNN for parroting Republican hate propaganda!

From NY Times: Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg needs to drop the political punditry and the name-calling.

Three times in the past week, Justice Ginsburg has publicly discussed her view of the presidential race, in the sharpest terms…

…Mr. Trump responded on Tuesday. “I think it’s highly inappropriate that a United States Supreme Court judge gets involved in a political campaign, frankly,” he told The Times. “I couldn’t believe it when I saw it.”

There is no legal requirement that Supreme Court justices refrain from commenting on a presidential campaign. But Justice Ginsburg’s comments show why their tradition has been to keep silent.

Technically the Times is correct that Ginsburg was ill advised, to tell the truth.   However, why do I remember no piece from their Editorial Board condemning Scalia or Thomas for attending fund raising events for the Koch Brothers? At times the Gray Lady is a total hypocrite.

From YouTube: President Obama COMPLETE REMARKS at Dallas Memorial Service (C-SPAN)

Kudos to Obama!! If you have not seen this yet, you should.

  1. 4:37  Another red that looks orange.  Blinding.

DKos – CNN – taking the "Lite" OUT of "Fox Lite."

NYTimes – Oh, well, you know, IOKIYAR.

YouTube – Of all the things the President has had to get good at, this may be the saddest.  But he is good at it.

Cartoon – What?  Don't go right?  Are they losing it?

  2. DK: Boy, they sure are coming out of the wood works now, aren't they? What a horrible thing to say/ tweet..ugh!!

NYT: Right on, Justice Ginsburg. You said it truthfully, which is more than Repugs can say these days!

YT: I watched this yesterday from beginning to end, he is such an eloquent orator! who speaks from his Heart. You mentioned that he spoke on tragedies 11 times for deaths here in our Nation, and it grieves me to realize that. There's too much hate in the world. Loving or caring for one another should be our focus, for a better tomorrow, to set a good example, not just for us, but for our next generation.

Glad to read that Wendy came and went. It's hot here, my thermometer says 98. It's enough to make me want to go take a nap. lol. Enjoy the rest of your day, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

  3. I'm glad Wendy is working out.

  4. I do wish Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg (aka, "Notorious RBG") had been a bit more circumspect

BUT ONLY because I think it might prove a bit helpful to Herr Drumpf

Which only begs the question for the whiny MSM:

Where was your "outrage" when the Supreme Court unilaterally decided an election for Bush, absent ANY legal basis?

… OR when Thomas’ wife was working for the plaintiff at the time of the SCOTUS ruling?

… OR when Scalia attended Koch fundraisers?

… OR when Alito rolled his eyes & mouthed "Not True" to President Obama during his State of the Union?

… OR when Scalia whined that the Washington Post was too liberal, but proudly claimed he was a fond reader of Murdoch’s right-wing rag, the WSJ?

    … OR when …

    CRICKETS!

  5. Daily Kos:  Joe Walsh is typical of the kinds of guests CNN has aired lately.  However, they did have a good program on tonight, Black, White, And Blue, hosted by Don Lemon, with both whites and blacks giving their take on our current horrible climate.  My husband loves CNN.  I don't.

NY Times:  I think your assessment is correct, TC.  At times, they are hypocritical.  They better not mess with RBG, she has no tolerance for idiots.  Her statements may have been ill advised, but she has a right to her opinions, and she has nor endorsed groups such as the Koch brothers.  Scalia was never bashful about supporting right wingers.

Youtube:  President Obama has more class than the whole Republican party put together.  He has had a rough ride and has always shown intelligence and wit, no matter how bad the situation has been.

    Cartoon:  Yes, they are confusing.

Wendy seems to be working out well, and is dependable, which you really need in a helper.

  6. What is wrong in this world? People being slaughtered left and right and ALL the news can talk about is what Justice Ginsberg said in a TWEET? What a petty, thin-skinned SOB Rump Dump Drumpf is! He would not have ANY WHERE neat the CLASS that Pres. Obama has shown in the trying times after these kinds of TERRIBLE tragedy!

Glad that Wendy is working out for you! I'm sure she will be fine for you, TC!

  7. KOS: CNN, giving Walsh and those like him a "legitimate platform" is, at best,  irresponsible. "…it looks like CNN has decided to egg on America's worst elements, the race-baiters, xenophobes, and the conspiracy mongers, just to see what camera-friendly blood might come of it." Walsh is an ignut.

NY Times: Let Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg speak the truth. Her opinions are highly valued and Ruth has a right to her opinions even in a tweet.

C-Span: A wonderful, heart felt memorial service was done by Obama. Worth a listen. No CC, 🙁

Cartoon: Down & into the flames of hell! lol.

  8. Puzzle — 3:12  Well at least it is not edible.  Although, if you go to country of origin, you can get some good strong beer!

Daily Kos — I seem to recall that we previously referred to CNN as Faux Light, particularly during some election debates.  And with the likes of Wolf Blitzer on the reporting line, is it any wonder?

NY Times — As I said yesterday, isn't it amusing that the very person (using the term loosely) who specialises in belacosity, lying, deception and "stepping in it", should be the one demanding an apology from RBG and her resignation!  Isn't it amusing that the one who rails against political correctness, is the one trying to hide behind it!

Drumpf is a thin skinned, narcissistic meglomaniac who has no acquaintance with truth or decency.  Is it any wonder that the Huffington Post prints a disclosure after articles it publishes about him that reads:

Editor’s note: Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liarrampant xenophoberacistmisogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims ― 1.6 billio and her truthful remarks.n members of an entire religion ― from entering the U.S.

But the Times is, IMO, out of line in the magnitude of its condemnation of RBG and her truthful remarks.  Although ill advised perhaps, I am confident that RBG can remain neutral in rendering legal decisions.  Had Scalia made such remarks about Clinton, there would not be this kind of fallout.

Youtube — Compassionate. Heart felt.  Inspirational.  Nobody, no community, no nation, should have to pick up the pieces so often, within a matter of 8 years.  I detected Obama's voice breaking a few times which is totally understandable.  Well done.

Cartoon — Just go straight down, buried in the annals of history.

  9. Sounds like Wendy's doing a good job, putting a shine on the TomCat and the floors. Don't let Care2 make your  level of frustration rise too much (actually I'm telling myself this) and keep on enjoying your medical-hassle-free week.

DK: I'm getting so sick of this kind of too-widespread media mentality. They'll do anything for ratings.

NYT: Sadly the Gray Lady appears not to be bothered much by her own double standards, but as I said before, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg shouldn't have let her emotions overrule her usual rationality and lowered her guard. No matter how understandable, she should have held on to her own high standards and not have given Drumpf and his ilk an undefended goal open to score.

YouTube: Though one of the saddest, also one of Obama's best speeches ever.

Cartoon: Don't go back? Don't go right? You must be kidding.

  10. Justice Ginsburg said nothing that wasn't true…

Obama is an awesome and eloquent speaker – but I did get a real kick out of Bush speaking and THEN Obama starting out with "I've seen how inadequate words can be…."

  11. Thanks all!  Hugs!!

My only reservarvation about RBGs comments is this.  In the event that deciding the presidency should go before the court, RGB is likely to recuse herself because she stated a previous opinion.  Scalito and TEABAG Thomas arfe too dishonest to recuse themselves.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
