To Whom Will You Listen?

Yesterday I made an off site comment to the effect that the campaign had gotten ugly, because the Trump Humpers and the Regressives (lefty ideologues) were echoing each other.  I understand that Hillary Clinton is not the candidate many of us, including me, prefer to represent our party, but from where I sit, Hillary has all but won the nomination, and short of a miracle, the only way to prevent that is to steal it from her, something which I would never support. But don't listen to me. Listen to someone eminently more qualified.

BernieBird

As the platform battles march on this weekend, it appears that movement toward Democratic Party unity is afoot. In an interview Bernie Sanders gave Al Hunt on the Charlie Rose show, he was asked to respond to his supporters who are considering a third-party vote over Clinton.

We have got to do everything that we can to defeat Donald Trump and elect Hillary Clinton,” Sanders answered. He also said he did not think the country would survive four years of Donald Trump.

Rumors are swirling that Clinton and Sanders will make a joint appearance in New Hampshire on Tuesday. As of this writing, Clinton is confirmed to be in New Hampshire, but the Sanders campaign has not sent out any press releases to that effect, so this may be more rumor than fact… [emphasis added]

So will you please listen to Bernie?  I hope you won't listen to Regressives, who claim to represent him, but preach the opposite of what he is saying.

  1. Oh, wow.  Amen.  And it is terribly sad that it even needs to be said – yet it does.  And from your mouth to God's ears!

  2. I think almost every Bernie supporter has now moved on to Elisabeth Kübler-Ross’ “Acceptance” stage of the facts.

Now on to a BLUE WAVE ELECTION

    Keeping the White House

    Regaining the Senate

    Making Inroads in the House

Filling State & Municipal Posts w/ Progressives

  3. Unfortunately Clinton remains a neocon DINO who is dangerous.  Bernie is not as savvy about the destructiveness of the neocon foreign policy (as on domestic issues) that even the IMF admits has failed and has us on a trajectory to be a bankrupt country if we do not change direction in less than 8 years.

    • Of course fiscal conservatives are concerned about wasteful military spending.  We'd be at war in even more countries (such operations have only been expanded to in 170+ nations since Bush left office) if they and progressives had not voted the same way in Congress a few times.  I have said more than once I've thanked my Rep. for voting the right way for the wrong reasons.

      • I'll listen to the NYT which has a history of DEM views yet holding people accountable nonetheless:
"We’re resigned to the Clintons focusing on their viability and disregarding the consequences of their heedless actions on others. They’re always offering a Faustian deal. This year’s election bargain: Put up with our iniquities or get Trump’s short fingers on the nuclear button."

        • Dowd has never liked the Clintons.

        • Correctl me if I'm wrong, but you appear to be saying that the Old Gray Lady is more trustworthy than Bernie.

          • The facts she included were those reported by multiple other sources and her conclusions were fully supported by those facts.  Clinton has destroyed the careers of those who participated in her separate email server with verified classified and top secret information being shared.

          • For those who do not understand your reference and should understand that it is her job to critique The White House and the high and mighty:

The Redhead and the Gray Lady

How Maureen Dowd became the most dangerous columnist in America—on her own, very female terms.

I like the way she says it better–has the same bottom line message– for those who know how to read her.  He doesn't focus us on the horrid consequences of the action and how morally unworthy they are to have it happen.

            • To help you understand how Dowd writes, a diminuative name was used to emphasize how Clinton is treating him as opposed to her own view so your objections should be over how Clinton is treating him like in the old time South IMO–and not blaming her for pointing it out to you.

        • First, TRNN equals Faux Noise in credibility.  As for Bennis, I understand she rejects the two state solution in Palestine.  That knocks her beyond the pale of progresasive reality as a foreign policy expert.

As Edie said, Dowd has a long history of opposing the Clintons.  That is not the opinion of the NY Times editors, as it's an Op-Ed.

Where you really throw me is the statement that Bernie is not savvy about foreign policy.  With all his time in the House and Senate where foreign policy matters have been debated, he has always held his own.  I could not have sopported a candidate with no handle on either foreign or domestic policy, and I don't remember you complaining about his foreign policy, UNTIL he stressed the importance of electing Hillary.  Is it Bernie under the bus time?

        • You're using Maureen Dowd as your source?

… The Maureen Dowd who has a long and ignominious history of vile, vitriolic hate towards the Clintons while spewing her vituperative venom?

… The Maureen Dowd who has no respect for Pres. Obama and refers to him as “Barry”“BARRY” that racist nickname so well-loved and commonly used for our president by those from the right-wing?

… The Maureen Dowd who plagiarized Josh Marshall of Talking Points Memo, forcing “The New York Times” to publish a correction?

… The Maureen Dowd who sometimes has her brother write “her” column?

THAT Maureen Dowd is the one you’re using as your source?

          BWWWWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  4. Bernie: "At the end of the day–we're going to be United, and do everything we can to make sue that DT does not become President". Yep, that for sure!!! Thanks, Bernie!

    Thanks, Tom.

  5. I am voting Blue.  My choice would have been Bernie, but he did not win the nomination, Hilary did, so I plan to vote for her.  I like Stein, but she will not get enough votes and few people even know who she is.  Hilary is a pragmatist, and I disagree with her on a number of thing, but I do not want Trump.

  6. Ask a Canadian what it is like to have 3 or more parties.  In the current US system, like Canada, there is a first past the post winner.  We ended up with 9 years of our version of Republicans — Stephen Harper and the Conservatives.  Finally he was booted out last year!  How?  In some areas, people held their noses while they voted trying to keep Harper out.  And it worked!  But the system still remains and needs to be changed.

Listen to Bernie or the US will end up with Drumpf who is far, far worse than Harper.  Americans can not act like spoiled, petulant children who don't get their way.  Be smart and look at the big picture.  Listen to Bernie!

  7. So many good cases made here to vote Blue in ALL upcoming elections; there little for me to add, but only to repeat: Please Listen To Bernie!

  8. Thanks and hugs to all!!
