After staying here nine nights, Julie and Killer Dawg moved out yesterday.  I’m feeling lonely.  After a while I‘ll get used to my routine again.  She will be back for about four hours on Saturday and will help train her replacement for a couple hours on Tuesday.  I felt too tired to sleep well last night, so I took a Lona Nap this morning and I am running late.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:44 (average 5:34).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Daily Kos: Because that is what Jesus would do, right? No, wrong. Assault weapons are meant for one thing — to kill. Jesus was against killing.

The Globe reports on a church in Joplin, Missouri, that held a raffle and gave away two Black Rain AR-15 assault rifles on Father’s Day. Fathers were given one free ticket and another for each child they brought in. (I wonder if you could bring in someone else’s child for extra tickets…) Ignite says it was part of a marketing strategy to “lure”  young men between 18-35 to follow Jesus. Because that’s what Jesus would do right? No, wrong. No where [sic] does it say Jesus “lured.”

It would appear that church exists to worship Republican Supply-side Jesus, who Republicans invented to justify their false gospel of violence, lies, hate and greed. Republican Supply-side Jesus is the polar opposite of the real Jesus.

From MSNBC: Rachel on Benghazi BS

Republican Benghazi BS had one purpose only, to propagandize against Hillary Clinton. And Nameless was right. It STILL isn’t over.

From Alternet: Donald Trump has been showered with accusations of financial impropriety, from fraud suits levied against his now-defunct Trump University, to charges that the presidential candidate drastically inflates his charitable donations. To add fuel to the monetary fire, Trump is now facing repercussions for poor fundraising acumen; on Wednesday, the Federal Elections Committee filed a complaint against Donald J. Trump for President for “soliciting contributions from foreign nationals” in a series of emails the campaign sent to “foreign nationals in Iceland, Scotland, Britain and Australia.”

Following reports earlier this month that Trump’s fundraising numbers are severely lagging, the presumptive Republican nominee sent emails to members of the British parliament, Talking Points Memo reports.

Sir Roger Gale, British Member of Parliament (MP) complained about the correspondence to the Speaker of the House Commons, Politics Home notes. "Members of Parliament are being bombarded by electronic communications from Team Trump on behalf of somebody called Donald Trump,” Gale said Tuesday. ”Mr Speaker, I’m all in favour of free speech but I don’t see why colleagues on either side of the House should be subjected to intemperate spam."

Click through for more details. Trump has not even tried to hide his criminal foreign fundraising behind bogus nonprofits, the way Republicans normally do.

  1. 5:08  Don't go so deeply into sugar shock that you bite the scoop and break a tooth.

DKos – Different Jesus.  That church worships Republican Supply-Side Jesus, not the real one.  I'm somewhat curious whether any parishoners objected, or left the church, over this.  I see there was blowback, including on the church's Facebook page, but no confirmation any of it was from members.  They claim their members are fine with it.

MSNBC – Yeah, I can forward you an email from my Congessman of which the title claims that the Benghazi "investigation" in fact proves something against Hillary.  And I guarantee he is not the only one.  And I'm sure people are lapping it up.  Point being, you don't have to have facts to ruin someone's reputation.   You only need persistence.  "Swift boating" comes to mind.  Like birtherism, Benghazi will never be over.

AlterNet – Well, of course he hasn't tried to hide it!  He's so dumb he doesn't even know it's criminal!  And he doesn't even have to get a penny to be a criminal – just the asking is a crime ("solicit" is specifically in the law.)  But don't hold your breath waiting for him to spend a day or even an hour in prison!

Cartoon – Yes, it should be all of them voting Blue, but apparently at least many of the are.  Now.

  2. DK: I'd take a quilt any day of the week over an assault rifle! What in Sam Hell are they thinking??  Don't answer that, as I know the answer…..good grief!!

MSNBC: Good Lord!  7MILLion dollars, 8th investigations later, nothing! Enjoyed Mr. Cummings take on this too.

AN: Wow….how insane and desperate can ya get? Pretty crazy imho!

    Cartoon: Yea, vote BLUE!!!

Aww….I know that you enjoyed her, and Killer Dawg. Parting can be hard, but maybe she'll get an opportunity to come back for visits in the future. I hope so. I got the driveway done, and boy, am I tired. When I was younger, it would of been 'Snap'!, getting the job done, but now…it's 'watch my back'. LOL. Did the pipe ever get fixed? I hope so!

Enjoy the rest of your day, take good care, Thanks, Tom.

  3. I hope you find a replacement that is just as good as Julie! She was a rare find, these days. Killer Dawg's adventures will be missed, also!

Rump Dump Drumpf is breaking the financial laws of elections. Well, WELL! Now I have seen it all! He is soliciting donations from out-of-country elected officials! How bout that! Will they prosecute him for it? We'll see! I bet they DON'T!!!

    Take care, TC!

  4. Just a footnote:

    "And Nameless was right"

This ONLY goes to prove "A Stopped Click Is Right Twice a Day" theorem.

  5. Of course, you felt lonely, after having company for so long.  You should have asked her to leave Killer Dawg with you.

Daily Kos:  This is mind boggling.  Has he even read the New Testament?  I am sure Jesus would not be pleased that his followers are raffling off assault rifles.  This reminds me of something funny.  Back in the eighties when I was helping get an animal shelter built, we had a meeting to determine what fund raisers we should hold.  One person suggested that we raffle off a hunting rifle and another thought we should have a fried chicken dinner.  We didn't do either.

MSNBC:  Benghazi investigations were for one thing only, to discredit Clinton.  The money wasted on this could have helped lower  the National Debt.

Alternet:  Trump thinks he is above the law, and sees no problem if he Wants to do it.  Shared this one.

Cartoon:  I hope enough young voters participate in this election to help defeat Trump.

  6. Killer Dawg & Julie will be missed.

Kos: Assault weapons are made for one purpose only: to kill.

MSNBC: Eight times, the Benghazi trials were held at a cost of several million dollars. The GOP were desperately trying to discredit Hillary in any and every way they could. This last one was a total waste of time and taxpayer money. The GOP should pay back the money wasted. As the presidential election gets underway, the GOP will use Benghazi talking points against Hillary.

Alternet: "Once a crook, always a crook" should be Drumpf's motto.

Cartoon: Bernie drew many young supporters to his campaign. Now, the young voters must draw their attention to vote BLUE.

  7. Parting is such sweet sorrow?

In CA ministers are mandated reporters for abuse and letting children near such weapons would like bring child endangerment allegations…makes one wonder what kind of protection children have in MO.

Clinton may not capitalize on the campaign violation given her alleged coordination with the DNC on her Victory Fund PAC. I got some of those trump spam, too…sigh

Shouldn't have to die in a war when you had no say in it happening…used to be just the youth; now it is all ages worldwide…sigh

  8. Puzzle — 4:00  Too much sugar for me!

Daily Kos — Snazzy tune — AR-15s for Jesus!  The NRA must be so proud!

MSNBC — Elijah Cummings used the word "addiction" when referring to Republicans and Benghazi.  Very appropriate in my view.  For a party of self professed fiscal conservatives to spend such great sums time after time only to get essentially the same results is asinine.  Isn't this the definition of insanity?  Or should I say insaniTEA?

Alternet — "intemperate spam" — the perfect definition of Drumpf!

Editor’s note: Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liarrampant xenophobe, racist, misogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims — 1.6 billion members of an entire religion — from entering the U.S.

Need more be said?  Drumpf never disappoints.

Cartoon — Now if Republicans would remember this, and if the youth take an interest in their country, enough to vote, and vote BLUE!

  9. After having someone around for nine days, it's quite understandable you're feeling lonely, TomCat. In a way Julie's stay is going to make you miss her, and Killer Dawg, even more when she leaves next week. You have many friends, good friends, both "real" and "virtual"(for lack of better words,) but I know its just not the same as having someone around. Take good care of yourself, my feline friend. Make sure you get in touch with you friends when it gets you down, we're there for you.

DK: A church? They dare to call themselves a church? You bring in a kid and you have a chance of taking a AK-15 assault rifle home and they call that bringing the gospel to the young. It's a sect at most, and a bad one at that. But that didn't keep them from buying the rifles tax-exempt as a church, right?  I'm sorry, but this really makes my "only in America" flare up.

MSNBC: It was hard for Rachel Maddow to keep the dismay (disgust) out of her voice while reporting on this latest and eighth "Republican only report on Bengazi" and Cummings sounded almost resigned to the hopelessness of the Republican addiction, as he called it. After eight investigations, the latest one being one of the longest in Congress' history (200 days longer than the 9/11 investigation) and having cost the taxpayer $7 million, having driven Democrats and Republicans even further apart, the last one having failed miserably at making Hillary look bad, the final result is nothing, zilch, nada except for an absolute waste of time and money. And what do Republicans do? They start to hear someone new tomorrow! And, as Joanne already mentioned, start sending people lies about the results in order to try and damage Hillary Clinton. Because that was what this last investigation was all about: trying to undermine the (most likely) Democratic candidate for the presidency. Why is nobody protesting that taxpayers money is used to support the Republican candidate?

Alternet: While Drumpf damn well knows that what he's doing is illegal, the subtitle of the article " All indications are that Trump really does not know how this whole running for president thing works. " shows exactly how he's going to get away with this. The fact that he's FURTHER damaged international relationships with Iceland, notably Scotland, Britain and Australia and probably some other countries as well, doesn't bother him in the least; he couldn't care less. Good to see that these politicians spoke up, though. I especially liked the "spam" bit.

Cartoon: Get those young people to the polls, America! In the UK 73% of the under-25s voted for 'remain' in the Brexit referendum, but only 36% turned up at the polls. The young are now complaining their future has been bargained away by the older generations, but if more young people had voted, the referendum could have gone the other way. The Democrats should take their cue from that and focus on the young, especially as most young people are Bernie supporters for whom Hillary has very little appeal.

  10. Thanks all!!  You are wonderful people!!
