I’m having a crappy day… literally.  I had very little sleep as I had phantom leg pain.  I did not want to take more Hydrocodone, as I had not gone for two days and was taking Dulcolax for Republicitis.  The Dulcolax broke through this morning, so now I have Republicosis.  What I needed least is that an idiot on the second floor broke a pipe causing a minor flood, and I can’t flush the toilet or take my shower until it is fixed.  ARGH!!  I feel so frustrated!  Obviously, this is today’s only article.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:14 (average 4:55).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Sounds like Social Democracy to me.

  1. 5:04  I am not sure what that's edible lives around a canal.  I'm thinking insects…?

Hon, I feel your pain.  There are too many people around who were not brought up that if something is NOT yours, you take BETTER care of it than if it were yours, because you are holding it in trust.  Sorry that one of them affected your pipes.  Perhaps you could consider it practice for holding your nose.

Cartoon – Ike was certainly a liberal compared to today's party.  Didn't both parties actually consider Ike for their nominee?  And, Social Democracy it is – and a durned good thing, too.

  2. OH, NO!!! So sorry to read you are having a bad day! I hope your phantom leg pain goes away quickly.
Having Republicosis is no laughing matter, as one needs to void that immediately, as the body will NOT tolerate it. Stay hydrated too!

Geez, hope that they get the pipe fixed and quickly. Take good care, Tom and Thanks!

  3. TC,

Sorry you are having such a crappy day.

  4. 4:04  My boat got stuck in the grass and reeds.

    • 3:33  . . .  yeah, those reeds that tangle!

Cartoon —  . . . and speaking of tangles . . . what a mess but necessary!  Now if current Republicans would get their shit together on infrastructure spending.

  5. Oh, TC! Sounds like hell! I take Gabapentin for phantom pain from nerve damage. It works well enough. And you can take 800 mgs 3 times a day. I don't know if you have tried it for the phantom pain. The only problem with it is it makes you ravishly hungry. It doesn't give you republicitis, either! And it is better than that burning and shooting pain in my leg!

On to something else. Have you gotten your pipe problem fixed yet? NOTHING worse than republicosis without a pot to, well you know.

Hope things get better up there in your part of the country!

We gotta get the VOTE out come November. It is coming faster every day!!!

    • There are other drugs in the class for nerve pain, phantom and otherwise, besides gabapentin.  Neurontonin is one that also comes in pediatric doses.  They were first developed for controlling seizures and then approved for this purpose.  They interact with some pain killers so a smaller dose is needed of them. Might discuss this option with your doctor if it is happening very often.

    • WRT Gabapentin – always a little leery when using a drug off-label (although there have been some studies on phantom pain use, at least).  And it's also associated with  quite a few significant side effects.

      • I'm aware of oine of them.  Right after they invreased me from 600 mg. to 1200 mg. per day, the small amount of Tom left in TomCat went away.

  6. Very sorry to hear of your "crappy" day.  (At least you can vouch for the pharmaceutical being effective).

Since you’ve said you live on the third floor, and Mr. Broken-Pipes is on the second, you can take at least a little comfort in the old Physics Truism:

    “Crap flows downhill”

  7. Crappy day is right!  First the elevator and now the toilet!  Sounds like your building needs some work.

Cartoon:  Indeed.  Ike would never be elected as a Republican today.  Those were the days when you could vote for the person, not the party.

  8. Hope all got repaired by the time we hear from you again.  Saw an infrastructure article a few days ago showing how our spending has gone downhill and the various candidate proposals but didn't refind when I searched–did see how we've been slipping in our country ranking for a decade, though.

  9. Yes, it does sound like you're having a really bad day, TomCat. A bad start with phantom pain and little sleep (do painkillers work for phantom pain?), Republicitis followed by Republicosis, while not being able to flush you toilet or shower because of someone else's carelessness… A day you wished you could have stayed in bed, pull the sheet over your head (it's still too warm for a blanket, I suppose) and let the world pass by for once. But as you weren't very comfortable there either, and because of bodily functions, that wasn't an option either. I feel for you and keep my fingers crossed tomorrow brings a better day.

  10. Thanks All!  Hugs!!

  11. TC: "Arrugh"

Cartoon: The superhighways made traveling so much better and easier for the entire country. Goods were more easily transported all over from coast to coast. Many americans were able to move more freely in less time.

Nowadays, the GOP is not doing much to help pass the highway bill. Many highways are in dire need of rebuilding our infrastructures especially the aging bridges around the country which are falling apart, collapsing into the waters.

The GOP are more interested in carving up the country for drilling, mining and polluting. they are interested in spending money on doing away with EPA standards. They are more interested in spending more money on wars, weapons for profits for their corporate masters.
