Yesterday’s activities must have really tired me out, because despite oversleeping this morning, I still needed to snag a Lona nap, even before finishing my research.  Tomorrow I have a bi-annual appointment with my Pulmonologist, so please expect no more than a Personal Update.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 2:27 (average 4:46).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Daily Kos (classic 11/2015):  The resident Republican blowhard on MSNBC, Joe Scarborough, has staked out his post as the network’s voice of rightist disinformation. He commands his three hour block of airtime like a junta leader, ordering the topics of discussion and interrupting his guests incessantly.

This morning Scarborough appeared to have a severe cognitive collapse during a segment about the Republican Party’s debate-o-phobia (video below). Like most of his ideological allies, he is suffering from the delusion that the American media, owned by a handful of megalithic, multinational corporations, is dominated by liberals. Scarborough set off on a rant about the absence of conservatives on nightly news programs, Sunday shows, and in the executive suites. He badgered his guests to come up with examples of Republicans in those roles, and insisted that they could not do it.

Barf Bag Alert!!

Morning Jerk’s central proof was absurd. We cannot name an anchor or a Sunday morning talk show host, who has voted in a Republican primary, because none announce their voting habits.

From NY TimesLast week an openly gay man, Eric Fanning, became secretary of the Army. Read that sentence again and contemplate what it reveals about how much and how quickly American society has changed. Only five years ago, openly gay people were barred from serving in its armed forces.

Under Obama, we have made some major advances toward LGBT equality, except in locations in thrall to the Republican Reich.

From Crooks and LiarsThe old foes commiserate on the campaign, drink a few beers, and have a waltz together.

Kudos to SNL! There comes a time when the opposing sides need to stop fighting long enough to laugh.

  1. 5:27 (4:46)  Hope he's tasty.  I sometimes remember G K Chesterton's little digression on "to flamingo" as a verb like "to lark," with the contructions "he flaminwent" and "thou hast flamingone."

DKos – Yes, even TV intellectual strippers are entitled to personal privacy.  LOL!

NY Times – It is amazing, isn't it?  Of course there are Republican heads exploding all over, but that may not be a bad thing.

Crooks and Liars – Definitely a collection of zingers!  And some of the underplayed ones were the best.  (Like the who's paying one.)

Cartoon – Unfortunately, some of them DID vote!

  2. Like JD's label for the conservative media…

Glad the horrid delay is over and that he got confirmed finally.

Laughter is good for what ails one…

  3. DK: What a blowhard. He enjoys hearing himself talking. ugh!

NYT: I knew several gays who were in the service when I was in, albeit, in the closet. To us, it wasn't a big deal. Most of them were my friends. I'm tickled pink, I wish him well in his position.

C&L: Classic!!! Good one, "I'll give you three Super Delegates"…"Yeah, let's dance!

Cartoon: What Joanne said !!! 😉

Positive vibes to you, as you undergo seeing your pulmonologist. Have a safe day to and from your appointment, too. I've been weeding and mowing the back 40, with all this rain here. I have mowed twice this week. It's tiring, but I enjoy doing it. Enjoy your evening, take care, and relax. Thanks, Tom.

  4. Hope you have a smooth day with the pulmonologist.

Tried to play the video, but it stopped about a quarter of of the way thru. Saw some of it last night on tv. GOOD one!

  5. Daily Kos:  He really offered no proof, just more of the same jargon he spouts.  I don't watch him.  All the news media seems to be more conservative than ever before, and we hardly have real news anymore, only that item the corporation wants reported.  Do you ever hear about the TPP on any network news program?  I don't.

NY Times:  Yes we have come a very long way, but if a Republican gets in the White House, all that progress will be wiped out.

Crooks and Liars:  I love SNL and forgot to watch it last night.  I wish I could get the sound correct on this PC!

    Cartoon:  LOVE IT!

  6. Keeping good thoughts for you tomorrow.

  7. Puzzle — 2:38  Sorry birdie, I could not save you from that ravenous Puddy Tat!  Tat, don't choke on the bones!

Daily Kos — What a blithering idiot!

NY Times — Democrats in DRIVE, Republicans in REVERSE.  Keep Republicans out of public office.

Crooks and Liars — This is the first time I've been able to see a SNL piece.  Very funny!  I used to tell my staff to go after other banks, not coworkers when it comes to product sales.  Same thing here . . . the "enemy" is the Republican party.

Cartoon — Afraid of his inaction, he hid his face!

  8. The medical profession is keeping you very busy these days, TomCat. Or is it the other way around? 😉 I hope the appointment with the pulmonologist goes well and the traveling too.

DK: It's all to obvious that Scarborough would prefer to work for Faux News, because all he seems to do is applying for a job there while working for another network. He's been imitating the atrocious style of O'Reilly for a long time now, so it quite clear whose job he's after. We can only hope that  MSNBC finally sees the light and throws him out before Faux News give O'Reilly the boot, but that's not a very realistic hope, is it.

C&L: Nice piece of satire from SNL But what is the message behind Hillary pushing Bernie into the elevator to get rid of him. Does it mean she can't be trusted or does it mean she's politically more savvy than he is?

Cartoon: Let's hope you don't end up with a huge bunch of these on the progressive side in November.

NYT: Kudos for Obama and his administration to show the nation what true equality means. That'll give the Republicans more reason to hate him, but so what, Obama's gotten thick-skinned in the past eight years and can now laugh openly in their faces.
Congratulations to Eric Fanning and good luck with the job. I really hope it outlasts Obama.
