I’m running way late today, because I overslept this morning, and I still felt so tired, I needed another Lona nap after completing most of my research.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:13 (average 4:45).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Fantasy Football Report:

The light from the Holy Ellipsoid Orb will soon shine forth to bathe the world in blessing!

We have a Live draft which is set for Saturday, Aug 20, 2016 at 1:00pm PDT.  If you played last year, but cannot do so this year, please let me know ASAP.

The new season kicks off on Thursday. September 8, the same way the last one ended. The Panthers will look to exact a measure of revenge for their defeat in Super Bowl 50 over the now Peyton Manning-less Sick smile Broncos.

Short Takes:

From Daily Kos (Classic 3/2016): This November 1922 article about Hitler in the New York Times should be a stark reminder just how dangerous rhetoric can be:

But, several reliable, well-informed sources confirmed the idea that Hitler’s anti-Semitism was not so genuine or violent as it sounded, and that he was merely using anti-Semitic propaganda as bait to catch messes of followers, and keep them aroused, enthusiastic and in line for the time when his organization is perfected and sufficiently powerful to be employed effectively for political purposes.

A sophisticated politician credited Hitler with peculiar political cleverness for laying emphasis and over emphasis on anti-Semitism, saying: “You can’t expect the masses to understand or appreciate your finer real aims. You must feed the masses with cruder morsels and ideas like anti-Semitism. It would be politically all wrong to tell  them the truth about where you really are leading them.”

I’m not saying a Trump presidency would lead to mass genocide on the scale of the Holocaust. But, his rhetoric is already dangerous.

Does that sound like the lies that fascist Republicans are spewing about Rump Dump or what?

From NW Herald: Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is abolishing the agency that currently investigates police misconduct and replacing it with a civilian department he said will have more independence and resources to do its work.

Emanuel’s announcement late Friday came a month after a task force recommended the move in a report that said police in the nation’s third-largest city have “no regard for the sanctity of life when it comes to people of color” and have alienated blacks and Hispanics for decades by using excessive force and honoring a code of silence.

The Task Force on Police Accountability had recommended replacing the “badly broken” Independent Police Review Authority, or IPRA, with a “new and fully transparent and accountable Civilian Police Investigative Agency.”

Dang!! That sure doesn’t sound like Rahmbo, He must be desperate to save his job to behave so far out of character.

From Crooks and Liars: Don’t look for old Stabby Ben to pull a Cheney and pick himself as Drumpf’s running mate, but he did give us a preview of who may be on his short list, and oh joy, and it includes the Quitta’ from Wasilla:

SNL had fun with Rump Dump’s VP search.

If Rump Dump actually picked Bloody Bullseye Barbie, aka Drill Baby Dingbat, I would have just two words: Woooo Hoooo!!

  1. 4:23  I don't think most puddy tats like citrus.  Of course, you may be an exception.

Football – Ummm – This is May.  By the time that live draft transpires I will be another year older.

DKos – Oh, thank you for posting this.  It needs all the exposure it can get.  As does every other quote about Hitler that was said before he took office.  After would be too late.

NW Herald – Good grief, yes.  His back must be up against the wall (don't finish that, Rahm, thanks, we know).  I do notice there are no names yet.  How well projects like that perform is often very dependent on who is doing the performing.

Crooks and Liars – I guess Gobbels, Himmler, and that crowd are also not available.  I pray it won't come to that.

Cartoon – Happy Birthday, Patty!  And Many More!

  2. Happy B-Day, Patty Monster!

  3. Take a nap whenever you feel the need, that is your body telling you to rest.

Daily Kos:  I shared this one on FB, I am really nervous about the number of people I know who support Trump.  Scary, indeed.

NW Herald:   This is long over due in Chicago.  I, too, am surprised that he did it.  Hopefully, this will improve conditions there.

Crooks and Liars:  That list of nominees makes me shiver~none of them have the brain power needed for the job, but then, neither does he.

    Cartoon:   Happy Birthday, Patty Monster!.

  4. I tried to add my comments to Care 2, couldn't/  It kept telling me to refresh the page. Ugh!

  5. Happy birthday, Patty!

Gotta get in on this draft. Did OK last year by letting my team be picked by the computer, but this year, I wanna try this for myself.

  6. I'm glad I restocked your catnaps in time, TomCat 😉 Be careful though, they're a bit addictive. But for now I think they'll do you more good than add to your health problems.

DK: This could be a perfect example of a lying politician who started to believe his own press releases were it not that Adolf Hitler wrote the main part of Mein Kampf while he was incarcerated following his failed Putsch in November 1923, after this article was written. He clearly knew that the masses needed more than just his speeches so he  made his anti-Semitism part of the ideology of the indestructible and world dominating Arian race on which his fascist Third Reich was based. Drumpf has been catering to exactly those people who hold Hitler's ideals close to their hearts and his followers love Drumpf's racism and xenophobia being downplayed by part of the Republican establishment, it also legitimizes them. And no matter how much he panders to Mexicans or African-Americans now, his followers know it's no more than pandering, and at best is only a cover for his and their true fascist nature.
No, if elected Drumpf may not really be a Hitler, ready to dispose of whole races to obtain Arian domination, but he also will not be able to control what he has unleashed and legitimized. Like the GOP he'll only reap whirlwinds from the wind he has sown.

NWH: A step in the right direction and one that needs to be taken after such a damning report, but as Lori Lightfoot already mentioned: "The devil is in the details". Setting up a new civilian department is not enough, all depends of what this new department is set to do and what authority it'll have. If it is civilian in all aspects and therefore can't overrule police authority, nothing much can be expected to come of it now the disregard of the lives of people of color coupled with a code of silence has become endemic, i.e second nature in Chicago's police force in past decades. Rahm Emanuel will have to weed out some bad leadership within the police force too.

C&L: Darn, I can't watch NBC videos any longer. But the vice president list was entertaining enough: John Kasich, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, Sarah Palin and Chris Christie. Hillary can rest easy, she has to fear Bernie more tha she does Drumpf and whatever VP comes from this list.

Hip, hip, Hurray for Patty. Congratulations and many returns, Patty!

  7. DK: Oh, the violence and hate stoked by Dump!! Signed petition also.

NW Herald: This is a good idea, maybe other communities can get on board with this too? I think it's a step in the right direction for starters…

C&L: Good video, I can't imagine. Pray for it NOT happening….ugh!

Cake and Balloons!! Happy Birthday, Patty!! (standing up & clapping!!!).

I love naps. I don't get enough of them, but I'm afraid I'll miss something if I do. LOL. Naps are good for you, though, in feeling refreshed when you wake up. Enjoy your day, Thanks, Tom.

  8. Thank you all for the Monster wishes. I had a lovely, relaxing day. I enjoyed every peaceful moment. I even stayed away from politics for one whole day!

  9. Thanks all!  Hugs!
