RepublicansOnParade4

Here is the eighty-fifth article in our Republicans on Parade series, featuring individuals who personify what the Republican Party has become. Today’s honoree is South Carolina barber Larry Thomas. He is so honored for pushing Republican racism to the next level and doing it in an Ammosexual manner.

0514hillthomasSouth Carolina barber Larry Thomas is facing charges of “pointing and presenting firearms at a person” after refusing to serve a black man, Arthur Hill, who came into his shop for a shave:

"He said, ‘I don’t do black hair,’" Hill recalled. "I asked him does he shave, can he shave me, and he said, ‘I don’t do black hair.’"

Hill says he had never been to the barbershop in the 2100 block of Celanese Road before. However, he says he was pressed for time and needed a shave before work.

Arthur Hill asked him to clarify:

"I  said, ‘Are you referring to African American hair?’ He said, ‘Yeah,’ and at the time I noticed he already had his hand gripped on a .38 snub nose chrome revolver."

Needless to say, Arthur Hill left and called the police. Larry Thomas only spent one night in jail and was back at his shop the next day…

Seldom have we seen. a better example of the Republican approach to race relations. Hill may well be better off. That typically racist Republican barber had one lousy haircut. And poor Thomas can no longer get it up, because the authorities took away his gun.

  1. WOW!! Unreal, and unbelievable. Hope he loses his license over this, (he won't), but he should. Wow!

What disgusting behavior from a barber!

    • HIs gun license or his barber's license?  Although he may not have either.  SC may just be open carry, no license requuired – and if he's been barbering long enough he may be self taught.  Cosmetology hasn't been around forever.

  2. There is some debate on the site as to whether Thomas is autistic, and if so, how autistic – and there is also a lot of conversation about hair types being different and race being a large factor of difference – but everyone agrees he shouldn't have had a gun and DEFINITELY shouldn't have pointed it.  Republican ammosexual anything-goes gun laws are for sure a factor.  At that, considering Republican ammosexual gun law and law enforcement in Republican ammosexual states, I suppose we should be grateful he spend even one night in jail.

  3. Hey, let's have some empathy for Larry Thomas, in his county, Republicstan, that's just the proper way to greet someone with whom you may not see eye to eye; he's jus' bein' polite, ya know!

  4. How did this rube make it this far in life?  It is a wonder that he didn't shoot himself, although I'm not sure if that is good or bad!

I agree with JD "…considering Republican ammosexual gun law and law enforcement in Republican ammosexual states, I suppose we should be grateful he spent even one night in jail."

  5. And they want to make it to where you don't need a license to carry a gun??? Are they CRAZY??? IT WILL BE LIKE DODGE CITY ON SATURDAY NIGHT!!! What the EFF is WRONG with these people???

  6. I am not surprised by this, but glad the barbour didn't shoot Mr. Thomas.   If he had, he would probably have been acquited in our current climate.  What happened to all the work done in the sixties?

  7. another episode in as the stomach churns…

  8. Excellent choice for your parade, TomCat.

Also note that this took place in South Carolina, that the honored ammosexual is only facing charges of “pointing and presenting firearms at a person” but none of racism even though Larry Thomas has reportedly refused to serve black customers before. I think Arthur hill can claim a small victory that he got Thomas charged at all and the police didn't accept this white man's claim he "felt threatened". After all, it happened in South Carolina where every black man is a threat, right?

    • I'm not sure any state has a crime called "racism."  In other words, I don't think it's against the law to be a racist.  "Hate crime," yes, but that is a federal charge

      • Discrimination would have been a better term, but it wouldn't have mattered, the US has few laws against that either as far as I know.

        • Actually, discrimination is against the law everywhere in the US, stemming from the Civil Rights Act.  But in Red states, it's seldom enforced.

  9. Thanks all!  Hugs!!

    • Mildly OT – but does anyone have any idea what that blurred oval on Mr. Hill's left shoulder is?  Those are usually used to mask innocent people or ads/commercial icons – clearly neither of which is involved here.

There's a better/larger picture of it at the Daily Kos post that's in TC's post.

And I guess we can be thankful the barber at least did not point the gun at Mr. Hill, according to Mr. Hill in the SC article:

ARTHUR HILL: "He did not point it at me, but it was  clear in sight like he meant business."

      • It shows up in the video, and Mr. Hill moves enough while the oval doesn't for me to be confident there's nothing behind it.  In other words, I have no idea.

        • Thanks. I rarely do any of the videos because the CC is almost always crap.  (Although sometimes entertaining crap w/ all the malaprops – but mostly a waste [or as CC would probably do it "waist"] of time.

  10. OK, I just re-read my reply, and realized I gave you a straight line.  When I said "nothing" I meant "nothing other than what can be extrapolated from what is not obscured, such as the shirt, the collar, the neck.
