Yesterday I celebrated Cinco de Mayo by having a couple Burritos delivered.  Today I’m rushing to finish in time to go get George a new ankle.  It’s a hot humid day.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:02 (average 5:08).  To do it, click here. How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Daily Kos: How do Republican women feel about Donald Trump as the likely presidential nominee for the Republican party?

On the other hand, some Republican women are so brainwashed, that they want to be kept the way Rump Dump wants them:

0506TrumpGal

From, NY Times: In an extraordinary rebuke of his party’s presumed nominee, Speaker Paul D. Ryan, the nation’s highest-ranking elected Republican, said Thursday that he was “not ready” to endorse Donald J. Trump for president.

Mr. Ryan’s announcement represented a split among Republicans not seen in at least a half century, and it came only two days after Mr. Trump said he would unify the party after essentially clinching the nomination with his victory in the Indiana primary.

A rejection, albeit temporary, from Lyin’ Ryan is a failure to top a VERY low bar!!

From Media Matters:News networks frequently use the word “controversial” to describe Donald Trump’s anti-Muslim and anti-Mexican comments, and it’s setting a dangerous precedent for the way the media talks about bigotry in American politics..

There’s nothing controversial about Rump Dump! Hid fascist hate mongering is just plain anti-American!!

  1. The rain I awoke to this morning has eliminated the uncomfortable humidity here.

The women's vote may well decide the Nov. election.

Perhaps neither Ryan nor the media know what to do or say about the destruction of the GOP Trump hath wrought, as your cartoon displays without the words.

  2. DK: Dump probably thinks women talk too much too, so let's get the word out! Dump this arrogant A – H0LE!!!

NYT: Lyin' Ryan: “I think conservatives want to know: Does he share our values and our principles on limited government, the proper role of the executive, adherence to the Constitution?” he said. “There’s a lot of questions that conservatives, I think, are going to want answers to.” Of course Dump does. And More, but his way of course!!!

MM: If I ever said any of the 'crap' that come out his mouth, I'd be arrested, and at the loony farm. Seriously. Great comment from Tom Brokaw. I'm passing this video on too.

Cartoon: Sad. Very, very sad, imho.

I hope George w/be happy with his new ankle. Enjoy your day, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

  3. 4:43  With nicknames like that you would think it has to be edible, or at least the juice drinkable, would't you?

The new ankle should at least help make up for the earlier mistreatment.

DKos – Well, that's an interesing take on a pole dance.  More of a poll dance?

NY Times – Ryan will support Trump as soon as Trump promises to toe the Party line.  What will happen when he breaks that promise, as he will – this is not scientific, but I can't describe it any better than to say he is addicted to speaking on impulse – remains to be seen.

Media Matters – "Controversial" in media speak doesn't mean there is a controversy.  "Controversial" can also mean "unthinkable" or "Provable falsehood presented as truth" or any one of a myriad other things that make people angry.  Sure, it would be nice if they saved it for actual controversy, but that wouldn't be any fun.  I am afraid the word is critically ill, if not dead.

Cartoon – Oh, the humanity!  Although I have to say that it was NOT intentional – whereas the Republicans fully intend every but of damage they are doing.

  4. "I'm very capable of changing to anything I want to change to."  'NUFF SAID!  In other words there is no true center;  where one would expect to find one, in a normal person, one finds, instead, a vacuum.  Oh, he is "…the least bigoted person you have ever met."  Whatever reference he makes to his empty self is " filled" with superlatives, like that with which a jelly donut is filled.  Ever tried to grab jelly?  It just slips and slides, does it not?  Bottom line?:  He's not there!

DK: Gop women: It's almost an oxymoron…unless one is named Bachman, Palin, Schafley, and so on.

  5. With a shiny new titanium ankle you and George will be running the charity runs with Lynn soon, TomCat. And with the lunacy of the American elections continuing, you'll need all the stability and balance you can get, right.

DK: I've always maintained that women are a lot more sensible and smarter than men and apparently that is also true for (a lot of) GOP women. 😉 I wish we would see a Gop men's video exactly like this too, but then I'm a realist…

NYT: Paul Ryan declining to endorse Drumpf just yet made it into my newspaper today too. We're watching you with eagle eyes and bated breath over here, while keeping our fingers crossed all Democrats go out and Vote Blue, No Matter Who!

MM: An excellent video indeed and about time it was made too. Finally that calls on the media to take responsibility for the rather dramatic role they've played in Drumpf's success. Not only have they given him unlimited attention and air time, more than all of the other candidates put together, but they've whitewashed his bigotry right from the start and given him AND his rabid base every opportunity to become more bigoted as time passed. Media Matters concludes with "that brand of bigotry will become the new normal in American politics", but I think it already has.

Cartoons: History repeats itself and unfortunately cartoons need to be repeated too. Good one, TomCat.

  6. Given Ryan's statement, it provides some cover for his fellow Rethuglicans to be more comfortable in disavowing Herr Drumpf.

It won't surprise me one bit that if a good number of GOPers who are wishy-washy in their support of Drumpf, when they're in that booth and realize the enormity of their actions, come to their senses and vote "D".

  7. Puzzle — 3:21  It's all yours Puddy Tat!

Daily Kos — It doesn't get much clearer than these expressions from women.

"It's not worth polluting my mind with what he's got to say."

    "He doesn't represent us."

"No I will not support Donald Trump as candidate, absolutely not."

If Trump heard this, I am sure he would just brush the comments off with something like "They're just women.  What do you expect?"  One woman said she would stay home.  I say to Republican women, Vote for you, vote blue.

NY Times — Drumpf has certainly raised the divisions and emnity within the Republican party.

"Mr. Trump is expected to be a drag on some Republican candidates running for the House and Senate this November, given his intense unpopularity with key voting groups, including women, Hispanics and voters with college degrees.  …

…Mr. Ryan had effectively cleared the way for others in the party to decide for themselves how to handle Mr. Trump. Mr. Shields said that with Mr. Ryan as an example, many candidates could cleave to a message and an issue agenda distinct from Mr. Trump’s."

This is one way I suppose to give Drumpf an ultimatum . . . don't play into his agenda.  The other day, we spoke of Drumpf having to adopt the Republican platform or agenda.  But we know he is an egomaniac who has to call the shots.  I think Lyin' Ryan just smacked Drumpf in the face with a glove thereby challenging him to a ideological duel, at least for now.

Media Matters — "I'm very capable of changing to anything I want to change to." — A narcissistic chameleon!

Tom Brokaw: "Trump's statement, even in this season of extremes, is a dangerous proposal that overrides history, the law, and the foundation of America itself." — Drumpf, this is not your boardroom!  This is a country of 315 million diverse people.  POTUS is expected to be a leader, not a narcissistic chameleon and bully!

Cartoon — "Originally posted on this date in 2012." — Just shows that over 4 years, nothing has become better where Republicans are concerned, only worse.

  8. How many women are in that video? 5, maybe 6? That does not make a movement against HumptyDrumpf. But, glad to see SOME of them are not brainwashed enough to VOTE for him. Ugh! I can't stomach him, either, honey!!!

To hear that Lyin Ryan isn't "ready" to endorse HumptyDrumpf is not much. He can chage his mind and his "endorsement" with a Tweet, FB post or any other kind of "news bait" that he wants to send out. He's just making noise! He could also be trying to build up support for a write-up choice for the RepukkklicanTs!!! Just think of what that would DO!!!

Good cartoon, TC. I will never go in a dirigable, EVER!

  9. I hope all went well for you today.  We finally  had a day without rain after 8 consecutive days.

Daily Kos:  I hope more Republican women feel this way.  I am horrified at the number of women I know who support him.

Ny Times:  Yes, Lyin Ryan did say this, but today he scheduled a meeting with Trump.  You cannot believe anything Ryan says.

Media Matters:  This is so true.  The networks have handled him with kid gloves.  He has hardly spent any of his own money on this campaign because he has had free coverage from all the major networks.  Thanks for sharing this, I posted it to Facebook.

    Cartoon:  Sadly, this is true.

  10. Thanks all!  Hugs!!  Running late!
