“Bernie or Bust” Bites

I became a fan of George Takei as Lieutenant Sulu, Helmsman of the Enterprise in Star Trek.  That continued through his support of LGBT people, the Occupy movement, and most recently, Bernie Sanders.  Beyond question, fellow progressives, George is clearly one of us.  However, in the face of movement toward staging a write-in campaign valled “Bernie or Bust”, George endorses a far better slogan.

There is nothing for me to say here — nothing more to describe or explain. The message that activist George Takei sends out in this video to progressives, Democrats, and liberals around the country, is simple and clear. Here is the full transcript [click through] followed by the video,,,

Bernie says that on Hillary’s worst day, she’s infinitely better than the Republican.  “Bernie or Bust” helps the Republican only.  That’s not what Bernie wants.

  1. He does give the best reason I've heard to date.

  2. Vote Blue no matter Who!
I have a lot of respect for Mr. George Takei.

Great video, passing this on. Thanks, Tom.

  3. I don't know that he gives the best reason – but he does give a VERY substantial reason in very substantial detail with very substantial backup.  Of course he is speaking to Democrats, and I hope Democrats will listen. There are, however, a lot of supporters of Bernie out there who have b=never been affiliated with a paarty, and do not feel that the party is family, in fact feel no loyalty to it whatsoever.  Many are young, but many who are not young have seen the government for the last – well, it's really more than eight years – unable to accomplish anything positive, want that changed at all costs, and don't know how that gets done, so are willing to brig it down rather than accept anything less than everything.  Read this and weep.  And, frankly, there are a lot of people out there who have voted for the less awful nominee for decades and are sick and tired of it, and are balking at doing it again.  "I didn't leave the party, the party left me."  To me the best reason to vote blue no matter who is that I am still a one-issue voter, and that issue is to avoid the end of the world.  But there are way too many people who have trouble seeing even that.

    • Fecal Dump Trump id nanking that Bernie supporters will think He is closer to Bernie than Hillary.  Bernie supporters need to lisaten toi what Bernie says about that.

      • if they actually LISTENED to Bernie there wouldn't be a problem.  Well, you know the kind of response I have gotten from that – they "think for themselves."  Trump is in so way close to Bernie, but he is close to a lot of these people.  He "thinks for himself" too.

  4. If people aren't smart enough to VOTE BLUE, no matter what, we are in DEEP, DEEP TROUBLE!!! Write-up campaigns never work and only help the other party, folks!!! The thought of HumptyDrumpf being, gag, president, makes me NEED to BARF!!! PEOPLE, PEOPLE, PEOPLE!!! Use your head, not your heart when VOTING!!! Don't let the Orange-man get the Oval Office!!!!

  5. If  we here had taken the same attitude as some of the Bernie supporters, Harper and his Harlots would still be lording over us, not a difficult feat in a 4 party system.

I agree with George, "Vote blue, no matter who!"

  6. Yes, Hillary is part of the establishment in DC, but she is still a dem,  I agree with Takei, vote Blue, no matter who.

  7. George Takei gives us an excellent and succinct 3:53 CC video in which all is needed to be said. Well worth the time to watch and listen to George's words. Highly recommended.

    #Vote Blue No Matter Who

  8. I'm repeating myself, but I think this is an excellent slogan, one I hope all Democrats embrace and act on, and one that you and PP are absolutely right to endorse, TomCat.

  9. It got My Vote … and it's BLUE!

  10. Thanks all!!  Hugs!!
