Yesterday I arrived at OSP at about 5:30 to attend my guys’ annual banquet for half of over 100 prisoners in the group and their family guests.  The other half is next month.  The food was good and I talked to several of my guys and their families about how well they were doing and how their families should take pride in them and their accomplishments.  The President (inside) then went to the podium and addressed the assembly about me.  He talked about how long I had been coming in, about how I had almost died and lost my leg, about all the help I had provided for them over the years and about how fortunate they are that I am able to return on a limited basis,  I felt both surprised and overwhelmed.  I went to the front, took the mike and said a few words about how I consider working with such men a privilege, not a sacrifice,. thanked them for their welcome, and promised to keep working become able to expand my role over time.  When I returned home, I had a snack and went to bed,  It usually takes me a while to fall asleep, but I was out as soon as my head hit the pillow.  Today, I’ve already had a nap and plan to rest.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 2:53 (average 5:05).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From DenverBroncos.com: Standing tall at 6-feet-7-inches, Lynch was dynamic for the Tigers in his three seasons as their starting quarterback. In his best year, his junior season, he completed 66.8 percent of his passes for 3,778 yards with 28 touchdowns and just four interceptions.

Lynch, a first team All-AAC selection in 2015, threw for 8,865 yards and 59 touchdowns in 38 career games at Memphis. The signal caller led the Tigers to bowl games in his last two seasons.

Lynch also has some wheels, compiling 687 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns on the ground.

May the Holy Ellipsoid Orb bathe Lynch  and all his teammates in its divine light!!

From Daily Kos: Another responsible gun owner, this time it was a retired NYPD officer who just didn’t feel safe enough to go to the doctor’s office without his trusty tool:

According to Nassau County police, the 77-year-old retired officer was in the office when he removed his licensed 10 mm semi-automatic pistol to show to the doctor.

The weapon accidentally discharged a round which struck the owner in the thigh and continued through his leg, striking the doctor in the right foot.

Both victims were taken to an area hospital for treatment of their nonlife threatening injuries.

This Republican ammosexual is so stupid that he actually shot the guy who could have treated him.

From YouTube (via Media Matters email): Rush Getting Flushed

Relegate him it a soap box on a street corner… but NOT MY street corner.

  1. Broncos: Best to Lynch as the QB. I know that you are excited about this.

DK: Now…this would be funny, if it wasn't so tragic!! and stupid.

MM: Thanks for this good news, yes, Flush Rush!!  I never listened to him, I found him boorish, in the same league as Don Imus. Couldn't stand either of them.

Oh, I'm so happy to read how well you were received at OSP, I know that they missed you, as you did them. How wonderful for you!!! So glad you went, and got safely home too.  Enjoy your evening, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

  2. Thanks for the touching OSP report.

Lynch sounds like a solid pick for the Broncos.

Dumb patient–did the doc tell him to put it away?

I like the data on business loss on all that genre of talk radio–would be nice to spin the dial anywhere and never find it again.

  3. 4:08  It's been a while since we had DYCs.

Prison – how wonderful.  I knew they would be tremendously glad to see you – and I am delighted they made a point of showing and sharing it so graciously.  You are the best cat in the world.

Broncos – His first name starts with "P" and ends with "ton."  Sounds like he will be a good fit.

DKos – The doctor could also have treated himself, since he is a podiatrist – but damn, he shouldn't have to.

Rush – A street corner opposite the capital building in (1) Kansas, (2) Maine, (3) North Carolina, and I haven't even gotten to Wisconsin, Florida, and Michigan yet.

Cartoon – Well, yes, but also these

  4. “PROUD!” doesn’t begin to describe what you should be feeling from an encomium like that at OSP!

Take a bow … you deserve it!

(But I think you wonderful night’s sleep was the reward.)

Oh, and while we’re on the subject …

    DROP THE BOX!

  5. So HAPPY that you got to see your guys!!! You had that dinner coming for a long time, my friend! So happy that you were there and got to share in the respect that "your guys" feel for you! You are a fantastic role model for them, the way you have persevered after your bout with the infection and loss of your leg, TC. You are one tough cookie!

Looks like Denver got them a new QB that has some wheels to get them going!

Rush needs to take a powder and shut the **** up!

  6. It sounds like you had a great day with your guys. I am so glad you were acknowledged for all your hard work and caring for these men that society largely ignores.

Denver Broncos:  I hope Lynch lives up to his reputation and your Bronchos win it all next year.

Daily Kos:  This is the height of stupidity!  Seriously, he thought he had to take a gun to see his doctor?  Can he spell paranoia?

Media Matters:  Our country will be better off without Rush and others of his ilk.  All they do is spread hatred and fear.

Cartoon:  That is what they would prefer.

  7. Take a well deserved bow Puddy Cat!  I know you don't do this work for the accolades, but because you like to see these guys suceed.  You share your life experience, wisdom and time, and they obviously appreciate it. Rarely do we get to truly see the positive effect we have on others, but when we do, it is magnificent!

Puzzle — 2:59  Might be a tad prickly if you try eating this!  . . . but then I suppose you'll get the point of abstaining from eating such beautiful flowers.

Denver Broncos — Not being a football aficinado, it sounds like a good move.

Daily Kos — Ammosexual idiot!  If I were the doctor, I would be shooting the retired officer's bank account full of holes . . . like the kind that come after a whole number ie $1,000,000!  If I were a patient of that doctor and waiting to see him, I'd be some pissed off at the officer!

YouTube — "Will the loudest hatemonger of right wing radio finally be drowned out?" — Let's hope so!!!!!  Flush Rush!

    All in favour say AYE!!!

    AYE!!!!!

Cartoon — This was the scene at a Republican piece rally, right?

  8. What a wonderful reception you had at OSP, TomCat. It must have been an emotional moment when the president honored you in such a thoughtful way. If there ever was a guy who deserved such praise, it would be you. You must be overjoyed to be able to return to work with your guys even if it is on a limited base for starters.

DK: The retired police officer wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed, but his doctor was even more dense for allowing him to carry it into his office and examination room. He probably was interested in seeing the gun the old fool was going to show him, so karma took care of them both with one bullet. How's that for efficiency!

MM: Can't wait for the moment one of us says: "Whatever happened to Rush? I haven't heard from him for a long time; that "Flush Rush" petition must have worked.

Cartoon: I'd have thought they had open-carry laws in most Republican states by now and were allowed to take their guns inside with them.

  9. Thanks all!  Hugs!!  I fee; spmewnat proud and very blessed.
