I’m rushing to get as much done as I can, before leaving for PT with Courtney.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:00 (average 4:58).  To do it. click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Daily Kos: Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Joe Walsh thought he was scheduled to play a benefit concert for American veterans and their families. He later found out the event is actually part of the Republican National Convention and is refusing to play:

Kudos to Joe Walsh. I'm including this instead of Prince, because his tragic death already crowding most other content from most media.

From Media Matters: Fox News host Steve Doocy couldn't find a single person to support his claim that many are "wondering" whether the U.S. Treasury Department is "pandering to the PC police" by adding Harriet Tubman to the front of the $20 bill, and moving former President Andrew Jackson to the back. While several right-wing pundits criticized the move as "Democrats using our currency as a political weapon to pander to their constituents," New Yorkers told Doocy "it's a great idea to put a woman on the currency," and "it's probably time to get rid of Andrew Jackson."

Since Faux Noise had just made a big stink over this, Doocy's failure has to be embarrassing for the Republican Reichsministry of Propaganda.  This os clearly Republican racism, considering that Andy Jackson was the founder of the Democratic Party.

From Alternet: If you’re following the election, you’re probably aware that the Republican National Convention is swiftly approaching or as 'Late Show" host Stephen Colbert puts it, “The toboggan ride is rapidly approaching the oak tree.”

Seeing Reince go up in flames is a good thing for America.

  1. BREAKING NEWS!

The Music Industry is yet again rocked with tragic news!

Another well-known, powerful rock-musician and activisit – Ted Nugent – has been found …

    ALIVE!

    πŸ˜‰

  2. 4:54 (4:58)  Technically edible for a carnivore, but I've heard they're not awfully tasty.  Of course, in Gehenna chili, that might not matter LOL

DKos – Yes.  Good for him.  And I understand Ted Nugent is already booked.  But I'm sure they'll find someone disgusting to play.

Media Matters – Actually, for quite some time before there was an Elizabeth Warren wing of the Democratic Party, I was describing myself as a Jacksonian Democrat, stressing that was JESSE, not Andrew.  I'm fine with Harriet Tubman, and would have been fine with any of the four finalists, even though I can now only remember three.  I definitely is about damn time, and a good choice, and the right denomination.  Of course the right wing will squawk.

AlterNet – My favorite play upon the letters in Priebus' name is to point out you can't spell it without RNC PR BS.  And, actually, Stephen's Irish Continental Breakfast wounds quite tasty (Bailey's actually makes a non-aldoholic flavored creamer now, for you teetotallers out there LOL).

Cartoon – Now that was a day of infamy.  And, like the original, it eventually led to enough right minded people jumping in against it to knock it out of the park.  Hubris.  Hubris.

  3. … AND to all our friends who observer Passover:

    Chag Same'ach

  4. The Eagles group has always been one of my favorites, I wore out two copies of Hotel California.  I am so proud of Joe Walsh for his integrity.

Media Matters:   Faux news isn't getting the support it once did, glad to see this one bombed.  It is past time for a  woman's picture to be on our currency and when you read about all that Harriet Tubman accomplished, she readily deserves the honor.

Alternet:  Colbert sliced and diced Priebus with this one.  Very funny.

Cartoon:  This was one of the most disgraceful periods of our country's history.  The Republicans would bring it back if they could.

  5. Loved the Stephen Colbert clip! Fantastic! I didn't think he would eat the cereal, tho! That had to be nasty!!!

  6. Puzzle — 2:53  Shut out of dinner once again!  You should go vegetarian Puddy Tat!

Daily Kos — I didn't know who Joe Walsh was until I read Edie's comment.  I do remember Hotel California. Kudos to him for passing on the pond scum!

Media Matters — "…Doocy's failure has to be embarrassing for the Republican Reichsministry of Propaganda." — The hell with his failure!  Doocy is an embarrassment every minute of every day, no matter what!  More women should be celebrated!

Alternet — PIMPROTFLMAO!!!!!  Lucky Charms and Bailey's?  You can keep the Lucky Charms.  In fact, give them to Priebus . . . they are about his level!  I'll take the Bailey's!!!  Kudos to Colbert!

Cartoon — Just the sight of McCarthy makes me want to puke!  The devil incarnate for many.

  7. LOL, Nameless…

    Thank you, Tom for post!

  8. Weren't you supposed to stop rushing and take care of yourself, TomCat? πŸ˜‰ Oh, well…many thanks for posting another thread and now go and enjoy your weekend.

DK: Agreed, TomCat. Joe Walsh deserves praise for cancelling his benefit concert for veterans as soon as he found out it was part of the Republican National Convention. I'm sure Joe would never had agreed to play had he known beforehand what this concert was part of rather than be compelled to disappoint these American Veterans now.
So glad you left out Prince, TomCat. Not that I'm not sorry he died so young, but his death attracts far too much media attention to my taste. My own newspaper had the front page and four more pages with repetitions of the same information; it must be cucumber time already.

MM: This brouhaha over nothing must be very comical to the British and those in the Commonwealth who had a woman on their bills for over 60 years. The problem of course is not that it's a woman on the front, because it isn't a "first" really: Martha Washington was the last woman on paper money (on the $1 Silver Certificate), but granted, that was a long time ago, between 1891 and 1896. No the problem for Faux News is, of course, that it's a BLACK woman they're proposing. Perhaps Faux News should go to New York to get people in front of a camera to say they don't want it, but go to the (rural) South instead. But then their racism would be obvious even to their average viewer. Who will agree with them nevertheless.

Alternet: Colbert had it easy when the editor switched to a shot of the back of his head immediately after Prius was asked if he was pulling out his hair yet. That had me in stitches already, but I was really LMAO when Colbert stumbled through his lists of personal details he was also interested in besides "not pouring Baileys over my cereal".

Cartoon: I never knew the McCarthy Hearings were televised – it started before I was even born – and although there couldn't have been that many viewers at that time, it must have been absolutely horrifying and intimidating to be named and shamed like that in front of a wide, unseen audience. As being "interrogated" by McCarthy and his ilk wasn't terrifying enough; just the questioning alone ended the careers of many good people.

    • You underestand perfectly.  So many things that are far more important to the world are absent from the airwaves.

It DOT were putting Batshit Backmann on the $20, Republicans would love it!

  9. Thanks all!!  Hugs!!
