I slept very poorly last night.  I had a lot on my mind.  I scheduled my visit with Casey Eye Institute on 5/9.  Dr. Skalet is an Ocular Oncologist, and she deals exclusively with eye cancer.  Megan’s office called.  they want me to get an MRI on my hands and see a Rheumatoid Arthritis Specialist.  One might think I already had enough on my plate.  Then, just as I was about to go to bed, my ISP went down.  I don’t know why, but every time I dozed off, I woke up again and felt compelled to see, if I was reconnected.  That went on until my Internet came  back early this morning.  Tomorrow I have PT with Courtney.  Rain is forecast, so I have to take the lift bus.  I may have no more than a Personal Update.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:04 (average 4:54).  To do it click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Daily Kos: Chris Sevier is suing the Harris County, Texas district clerk, Governor Greg Abbott and Attorney General Ken Paxton for not allowing him the right to marry his Mac laptop. He’s going to have to get in line for Mr. Paxton, who is busy trying to dodge fraud charges. Why would you want to marry your laptop?

He is trying to prove that, essentially, marriage between a same-sex couple can be equated to marriage between a man and a machine. He is trying to prove that, under Obergefell v. Hodges, the landmark U.S. Supreme Court case that legalized same-sex marriage, people are now allowed to do morally disgusting things like marry whomever they are attracted to, whether that be inanimate objects or the same gender. Essentially, he is trying to give courts an ultimatum: Agree that this is what they have done and allow him to make vows to a piece of expensive chrome, or, realize that this is morally wrong and undo Obergefell.

It’s interesting that the only people every trying to marry things that are not human—the slippery slope so often referred to by conservatives everywhere—are conservatives themselves.

Dang!! Only a total pervert would want to marry his Mac! Baring teeth smile  Any real red-blooded straight American would only marry a laptop running Windows!! Smile with tongue out

From NY Times: Curt Schilling, a former All-Star pitcher and one of the highest-profile baseball analysts on ESPN, was fired from the network Wednesday, a day after he drew intense criticism for promoting offensive commentary on social media.

Schilling, who had worked for the network since 2010 and most recently offered analysis on “Monday Night Baseball,” was dismissed after sharing a Facebook post this week that appeared to respond to the North Carolina law that bars transgender people from using bathrooms and locker rooms that do not correspond with their birth genders.

The post showed an overweight man wearing a wig and women’s clothing with parts of the T-shirt cut out to expose his breasts. It says: “LET HIM IN! to the restroom with your daughter or else you’re a narrow-minded, judgmental, unloving racist bigot who needs to die.”

To that, Schilling added: “A man is a man no matter what they call themselves. I don’t care what they are, who they sleep with, men’s room was designed for the penis, women’s not so much. Now you need laws telling us differently? Pathetic.”

Kudos to ESPN!!

From Alternet: Wednesday night, Stephen Colbert opened a segment on the New York primary with these words: "Speaking of things money can buy, the 2016 election."

He thrashed the TRUSed Uranus quite well!

  1. 4:26  And 4 seconds of that was just getting the last piece to click in.  That was not the only stubborn one, just the only stubborn one I was able to measure.  Grrrr.

I promise not to worry, but do take care of yourself.  And sleep better tonight, I hope.

DKos – At my age I think it would have to be a Commodore.  Even that is a litle young for me. Oh, well.  There are worse things to be than a cougar.

NY Times – Minds so closed that no light can ever enter.  (and of course they store them where the sun doesn't shine.)  Which Republican was it who made a statement to the effect that if he had been around at the Creation, he could have told God how to do it better?

Stephen – OMG!  I'm not sure I would have believed it if I hadn't seen film of him saying it!  O – M – G!

    Cartoon – Vivat Roma!

    • Hey – did you see that your "Southern California" comment over at DK led to a responder being Banned?

I thought the responder, giving the response, was Sarah Palin's speechwriter.  But someone else thought it was Sister Sarah speaking her iconic Gibberish – and quite fluently, too.

  2. 3:39  I could not save the birdies from TomCat.

  3. DK:   What happens if it breaks? It is still binding if he gets a new one? lol.

    NYT: Good for ESPN.

AlterNet: WTH?? Cruz is creepy. Colbert: "If you know what I mean".

Cartoon: Can't afford it, but I would enjoy going to Rome to visit.

Yes, sounds like you have a lot going on right now. Hope that you get some rest & sleep better tonight.
Take good care, and relax. Enjoy your evening, and Thanks, Tom.

  4. Puzzle — 2:34  No hornbill or starling fricassée tonight Puddy Tat!

Daily Kos — Such a frivilous suit brought by a right wing nut job.  He seems to have missed the part of consent! When was the last time his laptop gave its consent to this proposed union?  Only a bigoted right wing nut job would think of something like this!

NY Times — Kudos indeed!  I believe there was an incident with a hockey player too.  Appartly made a homophobic slur and was suspended for one game (his team is or was in the playoffs) and fined about $5,000. These penalties/firing have to happen, and happen quickly!

Alternet — TrusTed should be called TrusDead!

Cartoon — From the founding of Rome in 753 BCE, to the start of the Roman Empire in 31 BCE, to the fall of the Roman Empire in 476 CE = 1,229 years.  For those who subscribe to the American Empire, it should be good for a few more centuries unless it shoots itself in the foot . . . or head!  Certainly Republicans are heading in that direction, the shooting thing, along with their 1% and corporate puppet masters.

    • You'll be glad to learn that Siri is already on the record telling Chris to …

      "F\/ck off!"

  5. I may be missing a few days. My Mom had a light stroke yesterday and is hospitalized,  they did a CT  scan today but we won't know the results til tomorrow.  I was at the hospital 9 hours yesterday and 8 hours today, Sister and our Caregivers are splitting the time with me.  Keep her in your thoughts and prayers, please.

TC, you certainly did not need anything else to worry about.  Keeping you in thoughts and prayers, too.

DK:  Amazing the lengths some people will go to in order to verify a faulty premise.  This guy is obviously over the bend.

NY Times:  Good for ESPN>  they did the right thing.

Alternet:  I will never ever understand why anyone would vote for Cruz!  Colbert did a great job skewering him.

Cartoon:  If the Republicans get elected this time, we may have our own Nero.

  6. There's just too much to worry about, TomCat. I'm so sorry you not only have to see an oncologist for your eyes but they also make you go to a specialist for the arthritis in your hands so you can get some pain relief. Not necessarily a bad thing to get it looked at good and proper, but it's a hassle you can do without. Have a stern talk with your ISP, if only virtually, and tell them that it's not on at times like these to let you down or scare you this way. You need your internet up at all times to communicate with the world. Tell them we depend on it too!

DK: It will come as no surprise that this lunatic made the news here too. Thanks for a great laugh, Chris Sevier, but we didn't need reminding that American conservatives are a bunch of nut-jobs. We're all very aware of that already now the primaries have started. But we do have our faults too, and many are starting to think that most Americans are rabid Republicans – and certainly that all Texans are – and each new case like yours, Mr Sevier, only strengthens us in that erroneous belief.
I love your comment, TomCat. LOL I'm not to great a fan of anything Apple myself. Do you think Macs are mainly sold to Republicans? 😉 (My apologies to all Mac users here)

NYT: If Curt Schilling had been a soccer player I'd say he's headed too may balls into the goal, but what's his excuse as a baseball player? Hit on the head with a bat too many times? It must have caused a lot of brain damage to explain his blatant bigotry or to become what he himself describes as "a narrow-minded, judgmental, unloving racist bigot." You've got to pat old Curt on the back for this one, that's an excellent self-description. The ESPN thought so too, only patted him a bit lower and booted him from the network. Thank you.

Alternet: Great stuff, Stephen. Nice hearing Cruz lost to Ben Carson, who left the race a month ago, in one precinct. But Carson might not be aware of that [either].

Cartoon: It lasted for eons, but in the end their version of Republicans undid the empire.

  7. Oh, Ted… how creepy you are.  I still think all the Republican candidates have been grown in one of Monsanto's labs somewhere….how else to explain the brain mush?

Do any of the candidates have a good sense of humor?  Hints of that in Bernie but the rest?  We are doomed…Colbert, Maher, Stewart – any one of them would beat any one of what we have…

TC, do take care of yourself….you are important to us and to the world and we need you!

  8. Reading today the violence seen ,and planned at Trumps  speechifying,I am getting a disturbing memories  from another era.I feel that  we are seeing " Dejah Vue ,all over again.

I am a Brit ,who grew up during W.W.2,sleeping in air raid shelters, and carrying a gas mask to school.and of course relatives and  friends joining up, to NEVER returning.

I remember that  this was all started by an evil little man,by the name of  Adolph Hitler, who gave hatefull speeches, targetting and urging genocide of certain ethnic groups, I find it eerie and ,,very  alarming that  Trump

spews hatred and encouragement to violence.Be afraid America, very afraid, and wake up.

Sorry to spoil your weekends folks. But you had to be there.!

  9. Thanks all!  Hugs!!

During the Bush Reich, I gave GW ChickenHawk two emperor names,  Crawford Caligula and Nincompoop Nero,
