I’m waiting for Lu to come for her last appointment.  I have found a certified replacement through the Oregon Home Care Commission.  She starts Saturday, and assuming we get along, she’ll be long term.  I have a big grocery order coming today, that I’ll need to put away.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 2:32 (average 4:30).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From The New Yorker: No one in the United States has taken note of the total disappearance of New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who vanished from view several weeks ago.

In interviews with residents across the country, few if any Americans displayed interest in, or concern about, the whereabouts of Christie, who, until he disappeared, had been a once-prominent political figure.

“I hadn’t really thought about him until you mentioned it,” said Trenton resident Carol Foyler, echoing the opinions of many others in the Garden State.

“Huh,” she added.

Great catch Andy!! PIGnocchio has disappeared, and that’s a LOT of disappearing! What diet was he on?

From Daily Kos: A Beaumont, Texas, high school teacher was arrested last week after video emerged online of her smacking a student. Here’s the video:

Here we have another demonstration of Republican education.

From Crooks and Liars: With Ted Cruz battling it out for the Republican nomination with Donald Trump, it seems like a good time for SuperPAC head and fake historian David Barton to take a break and teach Americans how to "take back" their country, right?

And that is what he’s doing, according to Right Wing Watch.

Barf Bag Alert!!

I won’t say that’s Dominionist Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christian policy from the horse’s mouth. It’s Dominionist Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christian policy from the horses ass.

  1. I'm glad you've found someone that's been vetted.

I wonder whether RGA and/or RNC pressured him to disappear because he had endorsed Trump.

Glad this police department arrested the perpetrator–wish similar attention would be given to assaults by those with badges on school campuses rather than giving them more latitude than anyone else is given.

Sorry, I'm not up to watching Barton today.

  2. NYer: Crawled back into his hole, I would think. LOL, Andy!

DK: Appalling behavior from this teacher. She reminds me of the nuns I had back as teachers in the late 50's and 60's where slapping a child was an everyday occurrence. It's humiliating and painful. She should lose her certification, and never be allowed on any campus. Ever.

    Cartoon: Right on, right on!!!

Relieved to read that you have found a replacement. Hope it works out for you.  Enjoy your evening, and Thanks, Tom.

  3. 4:30 (4:30)  I suppose he'd be edible?

New Yorker – Well, of course!  Don't you remember?  He was taken hostage!

DKos – What I wanted to know, and still do, is – not that sh shouldn't have been arrested, she should have – but how come with no blood and no prior record a teacher is arrested immediately, whereas a police offiser can kill multiple people over time and never get anything except paid vacation?

Crooks and Liars – Well said.  And we know better, but we still don't pay enough attention to the dahgers of Dominionism.  Thanks for this.

Cartoon – Yeah, the Voter ID movement is coming to Colorado now.  Just how much will that cost with all-mail balloting?  Of course I am on records against it.

  4. Oh, so Chris Christie is missing? How can we tell? Because he ain't heading up Drumpf's rallies? He's just working in the shed till he sheds some lbs and Drumpf can bring him outa his cage? No? Oh WELL, who cares?

That Beaumont school teacher needs her head warmed up like she did that teen boy!!! If that had been kid, she would've been picking up her teeth and ass!!!

Love the cartoon, but it is too close to the bone in some states!!!

  5. 3:02  I thought anole was a sauce.  Wait!  That's aioli sauce.  My bad!

  6. I hope your replacement for Lu works out well.

The New Yorker:   Andy always keeps us informed.  Had not given it any thought, but Christie has disappeared!

Daily Kos:  I hope the teacher was fired and her teacher's license removed.

Crooks and Liars:  Barton ane his ilk give Christians a bad reputation.  True Christians follow the teachings of Christ, not the current Republican propaganda.

Cartoon:  All their gerrymandering is about to accomplish just that.

  7. 2:55  Just watch that flicking tongue when you carve that lizard!

TNY — No great loss!  Now if the rest of the bombastic idiots could follow Christie, life would be so much sweeter!

Daily Kos — The teacher's actions are inexcusable and indefensible.  She has no business in a classroom, and should be fined, do jail time for assault, and lose her teaching license for life.  She does seem to exemplify the Republican stand on education.

Crooks and Liars — I needed a 10 gallon barf bag!  This idiot is offensive!!

Cartoon — Ain't that the truth!

  8. Kudos to the Oregon Home Care Commission for realizing how serious the situation with Lu had become and finding you a certified replacement so promptly. Now all you've got to do is get along with her, and she with you of course, and you're all set to shower again, TomCat. That will be on less thing to worry about, I'm sure.

TNY: Andy's got that one right, everyone has totally forgotten about Pignocchio. Probably still licking his wounds somewhere, some of them in places very hard to reach for him. Let's hope for the people of NJ he'll keep quiet till the end of term and that he's not cooking up a campaign somewhere to get himself re-elected as governor. Perhaps he can give Drumpf some pointers how to take his loss after Drumpf is either dumped by the GOP or by the voters.

DK: I would expect the teacher to be fired, which would do her blood pressure a lot of good too, but then this is in Texas, right. The school board will probably come up with some lame excuse for her and blame it all on the kid. Nothing to do with race, of course…

C&L: Bring it on, that government based on those 613 laws for the nation of Israel from the Old Testament to rule the country by, because that's the way god wants it. But another god wants to have a country ruled by the Sharia and yet another by the Torah, having surpassed these 613 laws with others since then, and I'm sure there are some older gods people worship who'd love to see a country ruled by even more ancient laws. I'm sure practical David Barton will see a way to fit that all into the curriculum his School of Practical Government, which he equated with college and university, so he can make even more money from the misguided who enrol there. His SuperPAC for Ted Cruz is just an investment , Ted's campaign is a marvellous way to draw a lot of attention from the Talibangelists to all these business opportunities that Ted is going to endorse as payback.

Cartoon: Shouldn't that read: "Unless you vote for one of us" ? I don't think the GOP really wants all these fringe fanatics they cater to, to mingle with the ole boys.

    • Lona, OHCC has a list of licensed providers on their  website.  They didn't do anything,  When I decided to change, I used the list.

  9. Thanks all!  Hugs!!
