Just as I gave up yesterday and lay down to take a Lona nap, Lu showed up.  I finally got my shower and am, once again, a pure puddy tat.  We spent the rest of the day doing the dreaded task, cleaning, and researching her personal issues.  I just heard from JD that Carrie B had unexpected abdominal surgery last night.  The word is that she’ll be OK, but she’ll be hospitalized for a few days and wants you informed.  Please join me in prayer for her or however you connect to the infinite.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:24 (average 5:33).  To co it, click here,  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Daily KosJohn Kasich has managed to make himself look like the responsible moderate in the horror movie that is the Republican presidential primary, but it’s important to recognize that he’s neither responsible nor moderate. If he seems that way to you, it’s a measure both of how awful and extremist his competitors are and of how effectively Kasich has flown beneath the radar. Kasich showed off some of his reality, though, in a Wednesday night town hall, blaming high infant mortality on “the minority community:”

I will tell you this: The issue of infant mortality is a tough one. We have taken that on, and one of the toughest areas to take on is in the minority community, and the community itself is going to have to have a better partnership with all of us to begin to solve that problem of infant mortality in the minority community, cause we’re making gains in the majority community. We don’t ignore any of this, Chuck. These are serious issues and they need to be addressed and I don’t put my head in the sand and if I’ve got to get people upset doing it, that’s life.

Way to spin worsening racial disparities as the fault of the people being left behind!

He’s no moderate! He’s KKKasich!!

From Alternet: The first mystery guest on The Late Show’s wheel of news Thursday night was Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders. Host Stephen Colbert put Sanders in the hot seat and grilled him on asking Hillary Clinton’s superdelegates to switch.

As much as I hate to say it, Bernie contradicted himself. He says Superdelegates should switch to him in states that he won, because they should reflect the will of the people. I fully agree. He says Superdelegates should switch to him in states that Hillary won, because he’s the strongest candidate. I think Superdelegates should reflect the will of their state’s voters.  He can have it one way or the other, but not both.

From Orlando SentinelU.S. Rep. Alan Grayson received the backing of two of the biggest national grassroots progressive groups in his campaign for U.S. Senate.

Progressive Change Campaign Committee, a Washington, D.C.-based PAC, and Democracy for America, based in Vermont, both endorsed Grayson Tuesday in his race for the Democratic nomination for Senate against U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy, D-Jupiter.

"If you liked bold progressive Alan Grayson in the U.S. House, you’ll love him in the U.S. Senate," said PCCC co-founders Adam Green and Stephanie Taylor in a statement. “Every step of the way – from Wall Street reform to expanding Social Security to being a national leader for Medicare expansion – Alan Grayson has stood with progressives as one of our boldest and most reliable allies.”

I would happily support Alan for the Senate, based on his past stands on progressive issues.  His “Die quickly” statement on the House floor is what gave me the idea die for “The RepubliCare Death Benefit”.  However, I’d hate to see his ethics investigation derail his campaign and hand the seat to a Republican.

  1. Cartoon: Is this a trick question…?

  2. Kasich did show his true colors there that aren't pretty.

Today I also read about money last year from Clinton to an awful lot of state DEM parties that relates to the superdelegate issue IMO…Bernie is right on both counts I believe–thus far the superdelegates should be aligned with the voters in their states/districts…yet when the voters nationally have all given their views, those in early states whose votes differed from the majority should align with the strongest candidate in terms of the voters and for beating the GOP…that is what I've heard him say before and I don't have a problem with it or see it as contradictory.

Given that the DEM alternative to Grayson comes from money and a history of GOP yet received official party type endorsements, I still would prefer Grayson of the choices.

    Glad Lu showed up.

  3. 6:02  They don't look all that tasty really – kind of rubbery.

DKos – This after that great video of his calling one of the few competent cops in the country an idiot.  He did manage to latch on to one truth – nationally, the poorest white woman stands a lower chance of a stillbirth than the richest white woman – but that is not by any means the fault of the "minority community," but rather of the racist health "care" they are receiving.

AlterNet – I take your point, but then, nobody's perfect.  If he could be guaranteed to have it one way or the other – Colorado's Governor Hickenlooper would switch to Bernie.  Which he said to Colorado Public Radio he "couldn't imagine" doing.  Grrr.  I do agree with you, if this is what you said, that the "will of the people" argument is by far the most ethical reason for superdelegates to switch, and I would be happy with that!  (BTW AlterNet's daily email today is so meaty it may take me a week to get through it.)

Orlando Sentinel – Agreed on both points.

Cartoon – Well … a solar spill CAN lead to cancer, eespecially in very fair skinned people, but also in the darker skinned.  Still, on balance, it's a LOT safer.  For one thing you can come in out of it!  For another, there's no cleanup.  Yes, I'll take the solar spill any day.

  4. Oh, KKKasich is the WORST on women's rights and he doesn't look all that take to me!!!

I agree on the Bernie point with you TC. Bernie needs to have the SD's in the states that he won, but not when he was in second place.

Alan Grayson seems to be a good pick so far, but the RepukkklicanTs can get all kinds of crap stirred up that have nothing to do with him, but they will aim it at him.

    Love the SOLAR SPILL!!!

  5. So good to hear you're purified again, TomCat. Let's hope NEXT TIME Lu doesn't make you wait until you've also run out of fresh linen 😉

Thanks for the update on my dear friend Carrie B. She seems to have run out of luck health wise lately. My thoughts are with her and I hope she'll be home soon.

DK: Kasich probably blames "those minorities" for his failure in the primaries too. Typical Republican, blames everyone but himself. I'm sure this new statement – which is so much in line with older statements, so how could anyone forget you're a bigot – will get you a lot of new representatives, Mr Kasich. Still hoping the GOP will take you over Trump and Cruz at the convention, I see.

Alternet: I would agree with you completely that Bernie cant have his cake and eat it too, if he had indeed said that super delegates in the states Hillary won should switch over to him because he's the stronger candidate against  any Republican, but to me it didn't sound that way. Bernie seemed to be speaking of super delegates in general and in the context of his first statement it seems as if he meant it as an additional reason for those delegates in the states he won to switch over. It may be wishful hearing on my part, but I think he has a point that delegates in his winning states should switch because he's won and because he's got the best chance to win.

Cartoon: Oil spill, of course… really, is there a choice? We need to go solar as soon as possible.

  6. DK: Well, that's theGOPig standard ploy, blame the victim!  Cut his boot straps, and then ask him what's the matter, can't you get yourself up? Yes, Kasich is an ass, when left to his very own very imbecilic self!

    Bernie, what you doin', man?

I have liked Grayson's actions in congress, do not know about his ethics issues.

  7. DK: What an A – -!  Blame game. Now it's the minority. Instead of helping, he's blaming the minority, who need assistance with having a healthy pregnancy, and availability of extensive neo natal care, if needed.

AlterNet: I also believe that SD's should reflect the climate of their states voters.

Cartoon: I'll take a slice of the Solar spill please. We've seen the horrible effects of an oil spill, with humans, and  nature, and we are still recovering from the disaster(s).  Many years after.

Oh, I do hope and pray for a speedy recovery for Carrie! Glad Lu showed up, and you got things done too. Enjoy your evening, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

  8. 3:16  Are those rubber duckies? . . . er fishies?  Well at least you won't be tempted to eat rubber fishies!

  9. I can tell you finally had your bath — the smell of roses is in the air even this far away!

Puzzle — 3:16  Are those rubber duckies? . . . er fishies?  Well at least you won't be tempted to eat rubber fishies!

Daily Kos — KKKasich is an ass!  He stripped Planned Parenthood of $1.4 million in funding in 2013 and then reduced its funding again in 2015.  PP provides healthcare to low income individuals under 97% of their budget. Perhaps KKKasich should change those decisions for starters.  And quit shaming the victims when the people responsible are Republican extremists.

Alternet — I saw this yesterday and had to laugh, but you're correct "I think Superdelegates should reflect the will of their state’s voters.  He can have it one way or the other, but not both."

Orlando Sentinel — "I would happily support Alan for the Senate, based on his past stands on progressive issues.  His “Die quickly” statement on the House floor is what gave me the idea die for “The RepubliCare Death Benefit”.  However, I’d hate to see his ethics investigation derail his campaign and hand the seat to a Republican." — AMEN!!!

Cartoon — I'm with Jim!  Is this a trick question?  Sun spill of course!!!!!  Even though I am sensitive to the sun (I use SPF 50+ if I have to be out in the sun for any length of time), I'll deal with that spill.

  10. Glad you got your shower!  Thanks for the update on Carrie.  I hope all goes well for her.

Daily Kos:  All my friends who live in Ohio hate him, and this is the reason, or at least one of them.

Alternet:  I agree, the super delegates should vote with the people.  I am in favor of getting rid of both super delegates and the electoral college.

Orlando Sentinel:  I am reserving judgment on Grayson until the ethics investigation is finished.  I hope he will be exhonerated.

Cartoon:  I prefer solar, wish I could afford to switch to it.

  11. Thanks all!!  Hugs!!
