I’m already in a big hurry, because I have a ton of paper work to do, so please pardon my lack of conversation.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 2:37 (average 4:36).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Daily Kos: Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), Mitch McConnell’s deputy, threatened potential Supreme Court nominees that they’d get beat up and their careers would be damaged by the Senate if President Obama even nominates them.

"I think they will bear some resemblance to a piñata," said Sen. John Cornyn of Texas.

"What I don’t understand is how someone who actually wants to be confirmed to the Supreme Court would actually allow themselves to be used by the administration in a political fight that’s going to last from now until the end of the year," Cornyn told a small group of reporters in the Capitol.

He added: "Because there is no guarantee, certainly, after that time they’re going to look as good as they did going in."

Cornyn, by the way, is a member of the Judiciary Committee, that august body that acts as the gatekeeper to the federal judiciary.

This typically Republican tactic from Cornhole Cornyn is no surprise at all.

From Alternet: Stephen Colbert discussed Tuesday’s primary results on last night’s show, including Bernie Sanders’ surprise win over Hillary Clinton. “Michigan was definitely feeling the Bern last night,” Stephen Colbert, host of The Late Show, announced. “And it wasn’t just from the water in Flint.”

Colbert then updated his audience on the Republican side, where Trump triumphed, and made a point of getting back at Mitt Romney who had severely criticized Trump last week. Of course, his victory speech had some unusual elements.

Hateful Hairball may love his steaks, but he wants us to ignore all his mistakes.

From Crooks and Liars: Senator Elizabeth Warren used her speech denouncing Republicans for blocking President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee to remind everyone of their hypocrisy when it comes to their "extreme" frontrunners for the 2016 Republican nomination.

Go, Lizzie, Go!! Doesn’t she do a great job of explaining how Republican refusal to consider a Supreme Court nominee just illustrates  their normal seditious sabotage of our nation? Will Republicans do their job? Hell, no!!

  1. 4:14  Why am I thinking that's not an actual taxonomic name?

DKos – Even in my lifetime, Republicans haven't always been the Mafia – but they have for so long, it should be no surprise they are starting to use the actual vocabulary.

AlterNet – Would that it were that easy to make him go away!!!!

Crooks&Liars – This is EXACTLY why we need her in the Senate.  OK, there's Al Franken, there's Sherrod Brown, and a few others, and with luck maybe we can get Russ Feingold back, but her voice is inimitable and unmistakable.

Cartoon – Yeah, either that, or a filthy rich corporation.  But there are a lot more of the former than the latter.

  2. KOS: If Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) is threatening nominees for the Supreme Court, he should be arrested and thrown into prison.

Alternet: At the beginning of Colbert's monologue, he says that the pollsters had predicted the Hillary would win by 21 points in Michigan. Surprise, Surprise! Bernie won the state of Michigan. This was a good example of why one cannot put much faith in polls and pollsters' predictions on who is going to do well and/or poorly.

Crooks & Liars: Excellent speech by Elizabeth Warren on GOP to do your job. 8 minutes (CC). Have a listen.

Cartoon: OMG – another unwashed and uneducated GOP/KKK "sheeple".

  3. DK: He's an A–, he should be fired!!  Doesn't surprise me what Cornyn said, being from Texas and all. That goes for Cruz too. ugh!!

AlterNet: Oh, Colbert, you're hilarious! "As Seen on TV" re: Drumpf – priceless!

C&L: She's so spot on, do your job, Repugs!! Great video of Ms. Warren!! I hope she doesn't have high blood pressure, I sure would, addressing these jerks.

    Cartoon:  Oh look… it's a Repug sheeple!!!

Tomorrow, President Obama is coming to Austin, and it's opening day @SXSW. Here's some info in case y'all are interested. He'll be speaking at the Long Center, downtown. Schools are being released early, and traffic w/be at a standstill.

Hope you get all your chores done, and get a chance to catnap. Take good care, and Thanks, Tom.

  4. Don't rush to much to your paperwork, TomCat, any mistakes may come back to haunt you.

DK: The substandard level of the Republican presidential debates obviously are a very accurate reflection of how Republicans at all levels are dealing with issues and people whodo not agree with them.

Alternet: Drumpf makes a victory speech beside a number of the products he sells, and uses the speech time to get some free advertisement on the air, and nobody there thinks that's extremely bizarre behavior for a presidential candidate? What is wrong with you, America? If Trump gets elected his State of the Union will be one big ad for his products and nothing about the country he's running into the ground

C&L: I'm gob-smacked, but this time in the most positive sense and with admiration. Such fire, such passion and absolutely spot-on from start to finish. Go Lizzy, GO! Your sanity must and will prevail.

Cartoon: No, this one's much to cute to be a Republican.

  5. IN Europe, " Texas" has become synonymous with "Crazy," and with 2 senators like this it is easy to see why.

    Sheeple!  Goddamn sheeple!

  6. 3::21  Just watch for all those prickly spines when you decide to chow down on that fish!  Don't choke Puddy Tat!  You know how eager you get when you finally get to eat!

  7. Daily Kos:  We are trying to stop bullying in schools, looks like we need to start in Congress.  Fools!  The voters better wake up and get these obstructionists out of office.  They care very little for the Constitution, they just like to wave it around when they are denying someone a constitutional right.

Alternet" Love Colbert, he tells the truth so outrageously funny@

Crooks and Liars:  Of course they won't listen to Warren.  They are trying to sabotage her now, too.

Cartoon: Best on yet!  I would share it on Facebook, but I am afraid someone would burn down my house.  Not kidding, either.

  8. best one yet.  dratted typos!

  9. Politics as usual instead of as intended by our founding fathers…sigh

  10. Puzzle — 3::21  Just watch for all those prickly spines when you decide to chow down on that fish!  Don't choke Puddy Tat!  You know how eager you get when you finally get to eat!

Daily Kos — You'd never hear that in this country.  Not only that, here in Canada, that would be considered workplace personal harassment, subject to centure and fines.  Figures it is from a Texan!  They grow them big in Texas . . . Republican assholes that is!

Alternet — Lona, it is disgusting and unethical in my book, but then, look at all the free advertising Trump got by making outrageous statements that the media just ate up!  His free campaign advertising I blame on the media who were willing participants in the Trump sham!

Crooks and Liars — You could see Lizzie's blood pressure going up with every point!  Go Lizzie!  It is time to charge these Republicans with sedition!

Cartoon — Sheeple!  Maybe cute, but not too bright and unable to think for themselves.

  11. TY TC – I'm trying to get some stuff together for the charity shop to collect next week and for the council's large item collection too – am trying to think of all the space I will have left when I finish.  Normal comments will resume at end of next week hopefully!

Love the comments – hooray for Elizabeth Warren and all like her!

  12.

         HAPPY BIRTHDAY TC!!

  13. Thanks all!!  Hugs!!  Note that trhe sheeple is in the middle of the road, and you know there's a semi coming full speed.
