Hateful Hairball is a Nazi

Godwin’s Law – a common meme used by Republicans, other fascists, pseudo-intellectuals, and people with their heads in the sand or in smellier places, whenever anyone points out the verifiable commonalities between today’s Republican Party and Germany’s National Socialist Party, just before Hitler became dictator.

I’ve been reluctant to use the  “f” word to describe Donald Trump because it’s especially harsh, and it’s too often used carelessly.

But Trump has finally reached a point where parallels between his presidential campaign and the fascists of the first half of the 20th century – lurid figures such as Benito Mussolini, Joseph Stalin, Adolf Hitler, Oswald Mosley, and Francisco Franco – are too evident to overlook.

It’s not just that Trump recently quoted Mussolini (he now calls that tweet inadvertent) or that he’s begun inviting followers at his rallies to raise their right hands in a manner chillingly similar to the Nazi “Heil” solute (he dismisses such comparison as “ridiculous.”)

The parallels go deeper.

As did the early twentieth-century fascists, Trump is focusing his campaign on the angers of white working people who have been losing economic ground for years, and who are easy prey for demagogues seeking to build their own power by scapegoating others… [emphasis added]

Inserted from <Robert Reich>

Once again I say that the Reich on left, Robert Reich, is right, while the Reich on the Right, the Republican Reich, is wrong.  But I will split hairs with him on two small issues.  Reich is so soft spoken that he would not be using the term Fascist, if the term Nazi did not equally apply.  Because Hateful Hairball just says openly the things that the rest of the Republican leadership just imply, dog whistle, and support with policy, this applies to the entire party leadership.  Click through for all the support materials that make Reich’s points self-evident.

  1. Exactly, well said, Tom.

What I find frightening with Drumpf also, is that he asked his 'flock' to commit to him by raising their hands in solidarity to him!

Watched a video this morning, of a young black man, (a protester), being punched in the face by a Trump supporter, and nothing was done to the perpetrator who was white. How about the Hispanic reporter? Too many instances to list here, of his hatred towards minorities, and religion(s). I'm reminded of the SNL video, and the truth about this guy and how it's acted out, is so true!!

  2. Robert Reich is effective because he is cool and rational, he backs everything he says up with fact, and does not overstep facts.  His rhetorical style is as far from those of Trump, Cruz, and company as it is possible to be.  I have said in the past that we need blunt messengers, and we do.  But we also need – in your word, TC – soft-spoken messengers to back them up.  And sometimes the message itself is so shocking that only the soft-spoken can make it stick.  Reich is a national treasure.

  3. Just saw this in re: to my comment.

KARMA Strikes: White Trump Fanatic Who Sucker Punched Black Man Charged With Assault (VIDEO)

  4. Of course Robert Reich is absolutely right about Drumpf. But then he hasn't really said much more or different from what most of us have said here before. He does however says it so much better than we could and, as Joanne noted, he writes it based on facts. Reich is a scientist at heart and writes his articles in the tradition of English essayists: well structured, clear and precize, always backed by facts, rational and not emotional. The English can completely anihilate someone without ever becoming rude or uncouth, using the most beautifull language to tear someone appart. Reich doesn't do that, he is soft-spoken as you call it, TomCat. But you can also attack with soft-spokenness, it's still an attack. No, Reich didn't call Drumf a fascist – you and I did – and Trevor Noah didn't call him Hitler, but both made sure they got their point across without giving Drumpf the opertunity to make good on his promise he's going to sue the media if they write stuff about him he doesn't like and make lots of money from them.

  5. No argument w/ your characterization of Herr Drumpf

… BUT Ted Cruz STILL scares me a lot more

Cruz is Evil Incarnate – and smart enough to know how to use his Fascist skills to inflict the most damage

  6. Drumpf is the worst choice for president!!! How can people be voting for someone that is trotting out dick homes in a DEBATE?? UGH! I've had ENOUGH of Herr Drumpf!!! I am sick of the way the followers of his are making a mockery of our election! Other countries just wait every day to make jokes about how we are running this one!

TC, how are you feeling? Haven't seen if you were getting better, or staying the same! And did you see where Denver traded Brock O. to Houston?? OMG! They've lost The Great Peyton and now his understudy??? Oh, GEEZ! We need a QB ASAP!!

    Take care, TC!!

    • Viv, we didn't trade him.  We lost him, because he wanted too much money, more money than Denver was willing to pay him.  I see several oprions, which I'll discuss when they pick one.  BTRW, this should have been put in the Open Thread.

  7. Thank you, Pat.  I was hoping the ass would be charged.

As NoName said, Cruz also scares me more than Rump, for his Dominionist background and theocratic wishes.

Anyone not familiar with Dominionism, please go look it up.  Cruz' father is a Dominionist minister, apparently harbours some belief that Teddy may be the next Messiah!  This is scarier than G.W. bush and his Gog and Magog bullshit!  The press went too gently on Bushthing.

    • I've been watching Dominionism for a while.  And the more I look, the more it scares me.  Thanks for saying this, Mitch.  And, yes, Cruz is a Seven Mountains Dominionist (and look THAT up) like his father  And that is way scarier even than Trump.

  8. Trump has released the demons in those who were at least keeping them muffled, and pretending to be otherwise.  I read yesterday that the GOP is scared he will get the nomination because they are sure Hillary can defeat him.  I am not so sure.

  9. I really do not have a decent pejorative comment about ( trump ) Drumpf nor for any of the other GOP candidates. They all are just awful and they all need extensive mental health cares, long term in a mental hospital setting. No club med for them. There must be some way to eradicate the GOP/TP/KKK/Koch Party from USA  permanently.

Let's not forget that Drumpf made a "pledge" to stay with the GOP early on in the nominating process per RNC request. Now, Drumpf has people pledging to vote for him. I'm guessing that the RNC is complicit as being a fascist party whether they like it or not.

The black protester, at a Drumpf rally, who was sucker punched by a cowboy hated man has been arrested for assault. Good!

  10. One thing the media isn't covering much is how many of the policies to be found on Trump's website are now typical GOP talking points (e.g., their health care approach) instead of the populism that appealed to all these early voters…

  12. Like usual, Reich on the left is spot on.  Drumpf certainly has played on fears.  One can slice and dice his platform many ways, but he is still a fascist, and as you said, he ",,,just says openly the things that the rest of the Republican leadership just imply, dog whistle, and support with policy, this applies to the entire party leadership. "

  13. Thanks all!!  Hugs!!
