After breakfast I did most of my research and felt too tired to continue, so I snaffled-up the nap that Lona left and caught a couple hours sleep.   While I’m writing, I’m making a two day dinner of Mongolian Beef and Jasmine Rice.  This afternoon, I have a ton of paper work to  do.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 2:40 (average 5:27).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Jeff Merkley: Merkley: Keeping our Citizen-Owned Fossil Fuel Reserves in the Ground

I’m so glad I worked on getting Jeff elected. Uw was worth the effort. Oregon leads the way! Support Jeff’s "Keep It in the Ground Act"!!! Bernie is a co-sponsor.

From Daily Kos: Fuming cauldron of love Donald Trump was on Michael Savage’s conservative talk radio show. The conservative host, best known for calling veterans who have PTSD “weak,” asked the Trumpman about the ideas floating out in some circles that Scalia was murdered, and did not in fact die of natural causes like his family has claimed.

“It’s a horrible topic,” said Trump, “but they say they found the pillow on his face, which is a pretty unusual place to find a pillow. I can’t give you an answer … I literally just heard it a little while ago. It’s just starting to come out now, as you know, Michael.”

This has been making rounds in the Republican Bubble Machine for a few days now. To set the record straight, there was no pillow on his face, and if there was any outside participation in his demise, it was divine, not human.

From PRWatch: Ford Motor Company confirmed to the Center for Media and Democracy (CMD) that it is cutting ties with the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), an organization that has drawn heavy criticism for promoting climate change denial and for opposing the development of renewable energy sources.

"As part of our annual budget review, we have adjusted our participation in several groups. We will not be participating in ALEC in 2016," wrote Christin Baker, a Ford spokesperson in an email to CMD.

Its products might be "Ford Tough," but in making the decision to stop funding ALEC, Ford executives are responding to consumer concern over its membership in the controversial, Koch-funded ALEC, which has both an extreme anti-worker agenda as well as an anti-environmental agenda.

The departure makes Ford the 108th identified company to cut ties with ALEC in recent years.

For the huge lost of corporate criminal Koch suckers that support ALEC, click here.

  1. 4:34  Actually that looks like Guido's car to me.

Jeff – Signed from email.  Yes, he is a treasure!

DKos – Well, as Colbert says, his campaign is based on opening his mouth and saying things.  This is an example of things.  The fact is, sane peole don't murder crazies; it goes the other way.  Also for the record, I sis not send the Furies after Nino – you would have heard it here first if I had.

PRWatch – Well, every little bit helps.  Some of the ones who have left (or claim to) are among the worst corporate offenders, which is encouraging.  however, on the other link, I caught at least one that claimed to have left but the same year showed up on the list under a different form of their name.  So it pays to read the details, although the phone book from outer mongolia wouls be more interesting.

Cartoon – As they should have been.   I don't need to have met them to know that, although my gosh, you have met some of the darndest great people.

  2. 3:51  I stopped off for a pizza.

    • 2:22  Glad you stopped to eat on your way Jerry because there is none left at this little café.

  3. Keep It In The Ground — As explained <a href="http://whohijackedourcountry.blogspot.com/2016/02/in-spirit-of-abbie-hoffman-steal-this.html">here</a&gt;,

"  — any person or company can lease public lands for just a few dollars an acre for the purpose of mining, drilling, etc.  But now there's a David and Goliath twist:  environmentalists, renewable energy advocates and members of the Keep it in the Ground movement are starting to lease huge acreages of public land — allegedly for the sole purpose of mining/drilling/fracking [wink].  Damn, I looked all over the place for oil, silver, minerals; and I just couldn't find any."

  4. The fact that Antonin Scalia, a 79 y/o obese male smoker who lived a sedentary lifestyle, died of a heart attack is NOT conspiracy material … it was pretty much inevitable!

However the fact that he died of a heart attack does prove I was wrong.  Turns out he actually had one!

Of course the colossal tragedy in all of this is, how the HELL is how is Clarence going to know how he’s supposed to vote?

    • I was having similar thoughts about the very quiet Clarence!

Too bad Scalia's heart attack waited until he'd had progeny, otherwise his life style death would have qualified him for a Darwin Award!

  5. I couldn't get any volume on the video. Must be my phone doin that.

ALRIGHT Ford Motor Company!!! What took you so long???

    Love the cartoon!

Thanks for the card. I am able to see them all, mostly, unless they are heavily animated.

I just sent an email to Pres. Obama about Leonard Peltier. He needs to be RELEASED IMMEDIATELY!! Just wanted throw that in there.

    Kudos to ALL!!!

  6. Kudos to Mr. Merkel and to you also, Tom!!

DK: Well, since it happened on a ranch, AND in Texas…''you fill in the blank here.''

Cartoon: WOW! I'm in awe that you knew these gentlemen!! How wonderful !! ''In February 1970, five of the seven were found guilty, but an appeals court overturned the convictions in the fall of 1972, citing Judge Hoffman’s procedural errors and his overt hostility to the defendants.'' *History

Went to school and tutored, now I'm tired. But it's a good tired. Your dinner preparation sounds delicious!
Relax and enjoy your evening, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

  7. Did Savage ever serve in the armed forces, see acton, if he did?  Or is he like G.W.B, who called the returning vets who needed help "beggars?"  Is Trump for real, or is he somebody's run-away hologram?

If Ford really is out of ALEC, it is something to celebrate, but a company whose origins go back to Henry the vocal anti-Semite…?

  8. Sometimes there is good news worth sharing to keep us sane.  Glad Ford saw the writing on the wall and that Merkeley and Bernie teamed up…and to those who saw it was cheaper to buy the lease than to fight to stop the leases for now…

If he'd ever had chest surgery, he'd have been taught to hug a pillow when he coughed…

  9. Mongolian beef and jasmine rice?  Are you a gourmet cook, too?

Merkley:  Wish he was my governor!

Daily Kos:  They have no shame.  The man hasn't been buried yet and they are using him to promote their retarded efforts.

PR Watch:  Good for Ford.  I clicked on the link to see ALEC supporters and was amazed to see just how many there are.

Cartoon:  Good for you.  Wish I had been brave enough to be there.

  10. Glad my catnaps help you to keep up your busy schedule. A siesta on the middle of the day is said to be very healthy, TomCat.

Jeff Merkely: Great man, great ideas. Oregon should clone him and send his copies to all the other states.

Daily Kos: If he believed there was more to the rumor that Scalia died an unnatural death, you can be sure Trump would have used it for maximum effect.

PRWatch: Those 108 companies aren't completely stupid, they know when to cut their loss and go where the money is: renewable energy. Don't think for a moment they really want to do something about Global Warming, they just want to keep on making giant profits and they know they can do that better by dropping ALEC, claiming Climate Change to be true and selling their products as green, durable, less polluting or whatever.

  11. I finally got to watch all of that video. I am so proud of your Congressman! I'm sure he butts heads with the Senator from OK, A LOT! He's the one that brought a snowball into chambers to prove there is no global warming!!! Inhofe is no more than a dingle-berry up against yours!!! I wish I had him a Senator instead of "snowball's chance in hell" Inhofe! Maybe the election will see a change in ALL of the senators and representatives that don't believe in CLIMATE CHANGE!!!

    BRAVO TO SENATOR MERKLEY!!!
