This probably won’t be posted, until after I return from my podiatry appointment this afternoon.  I’m in hurry up mode while preparing to leave.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:15 (average 4:53).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Woooo Hoooo!!!!

Short Takes:

From Daily Kos: Outspoken musician and activist Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks once stated during a 2003 World Tour that she was basically ashamed to be from the same state as then-president George W. Bush. The backlash from her statement was incredible. The well-spun music of the multi-platinum Grammy winning trio was immediately pulled from most radio stations. The all-female band was lambasted by the media, conservative pundits, and disloyal country music fans. More horrendously, all three received death threats for practicing their freedom of speech. The whole experience took a toll on the group (Natalie Maines, Emily Robison and Martie Maguire), and years later they decided to take a hiatus from touring together…

,,,This experience did not silence the anti-war activist who today continues to speak her mind and truth as she continues her solo career. Her latest comment this past weekend, on Twitter, lashes out at Texas senator and GOP presidential candidate, Ted Cruz. By way of Living Blue In Texas and Ashley Iasimone with Billboard Magazine, Maines tweets:

“Just so you know….I'm ashamed Ted Cruz is from America,” Maines wrote on Twitter late Saturday night (Jan. 23).

With her tweet she posted side-by-side images of former President Dwight D. Eisenhower and Cruz.

Here’s some video.

Kudos once again!!

From YouTube:

Woooo Hoooo!!!!

From NY TimesAs Democrats consider Hillary Clinton’s candidacy for the second time, women are wrestling with a difficult question: whether they have an obligation to get behind someone who is closer than anyone has ever been to becoming the first female president.

And with her opponent, Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, outdrawing her in support among young women, Mrs. Clinton’s candidacy has turned into a generational clash, one that erupted this weekend when two feminist icons, Madeleine Albright and Gloria Steinem, called on young women who supported Mr. Sanders to essentially grow up and get with the program.

My estimation of Gloria just plummeted. I'm all for a first woman President: Elizabeth Warren!

  1. 2:53  Pretty posie!

  2. 4:28  Dahlias – they can be a pain in the back of the lap to grow, but they can certainly be flashy.

DKos – Excellent juxtaposition of quotes, which really shows how unfit Ted Cruz is to be our Commander in Chief.  Of course, so was and is John McCain (who certainly ought to have known better.)

YouTube – I certainly hope this will be one in the eye for those RWNJs who were so sure the Panthers would win because it was predicted in the Book of Revelation as a step in the way to Armageddon.  Nice to be able to experience religious ecstasy and piss off the right wing at the same time!

NY Times – Oh Pooh.  What would you expect from the Old Gray Lady.  I hardly think condescension is the way th win support.  Au contraire.  The flocking of youth to Bernie to me suggests his ideas are young.

Cartoon – Boy.  This map does explain Missouri, doesn't it?

    • I do not know what an RWNJ is (Raving Wombats of New Jersey?), but anyone who can find concrete predictions in the Bookof Revelations, is deliusional, or just full of propagandist shit!  Some world shaking, history making, silly (in the larger picture) football game, is in some god's plan for some magical, human construct, Armageddon?  Yeah, right!

  3. DK: Pictures worth a thousand words, I side with the one on the Left.

NYT: Guess I'm going to hell then, as I'm feeling the BERN!! LOL!! πŸ˜‰

Cartoon: The Confederate States of America was a republic composed of eleven Southern states that seceded from the Union in order to preserve slavery, states’ rights, and political liberty for whites. Interestingly, on July 15, 1870, Georgia became the last former Confederate state to be restored to the Union, more than five years after the Civil War's end. *History

What a game, what a score!!! Did you hear our yelling?? I was disappointed in Cam's interview with the press though. He'll grow up quickly, I hope, at least for his fans.
Hope that your appointment went good. Have a great evening, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

  4. Glad you had something to celebrate.

Sorry the Dixie Chicks were hurt so much by those who don't support the constitution.

Ike was a real leader rather than an empty fascimile.

Isn't feminism about gender being irrelevant in who is best?  Young women understand the income inequality aspects hurt them the most and reducing it will help them the most.

    • Feminism was indeed concerned with the idea that gender was irrelevant, as I understood its proponents in the 60's and forward.  I think this is a valid concept NOW, as well.

  5. I'm not so sure that two old establishment ladies calling for support of a third old establishment lady is the way to gain the support of the youth of America.

  6. Ike had values that were consistent with the ideas upon which the country was founded, as I understand it.  Cruz has values that are consistent with Pseudo-Christian Zombie Greed Meisters!  That's it!  That's what one fails to see in his face, some semblance of the human quality called "life."

I do not know what an RWNJ is (Raving Wombats of New Jersey?), but anyone who can find concrete predictions in the Bookof Revelations, is deliusional, or just full of propagandist shit!  Some world shaking, history making, silly (in the larger picture) football game, is in some god's plan for some magical, human construct, Armageddon?  Yeah, right!

    dixie Chicks rock!

By the way, congratulations to all Bronoco fans, and the Broncos themselves!!!

I have real trouble with the Dems, believe in everyhting I've heard Bernie say, but rmain afraid that he is too easya target for the GOPigs.

Dixie Chicks rock, as does their politics!

  7. Congrats, again on your Bronco's win!

Daily Kos:  Good for Natalie.  I so admire her.  She was right when she criticized Dubya and she is right today!

NY Times:  While I respect both Albright and Steinem, I know who makes the most sense to me.  I would love to see a woman as President, but I really think we need someone like Bernie who is not beholden to Wall Street.

Cartoon:  So glad Kentucky is not on it.

  8. Puzzle — 2:53  Pretty posie!

Daily Kos — Perhaps Cruz should be drafted into the army as a grunt, no special dispensations, and be sent into combat.  Maybe then he would gain some appreciation for war.  Never mind.  He's too stupid.  He's willing to risk the lives of his daughters on "glowing" sand!  Nobody loves Cruz except his family.

YouTube — Glad you had some religious ecstasy after a personally lousy year.  Not all the RWNJs were pissed off . . . Chris Christie called the Broncos while most of the other Republican candidates were calling for the Panthers.

NY Times — "But even young women who would like to see a female president elected someday do not necessarily want to base their vote on that single factor."  Canada has had a female Prime Minister, albeit for a very short period.  But to me, the candidate I support has to have the correct platform and temperment to gain my support.  I certainly found Albright offensive .

Cartoon — Interesting piece of history that sent me googling.  See my Open Thread for 08/02/2016.

  9. Congrats on you team's winning, TomCat. I hope the visit to the podiatrist didn't cool your flush of triumph.

Daily Kos: Kudos to Natalie Maines for her tweet and excellent comparison of a man who knew what he was talking about because he experienced it and who did it straight from the heart (Eisenhower) to one who hasn't got a clue, because he was never in the military, but who likes to do an impression of a man who's speaking straight from his military balls (Cruz). Cruz is fake from top to toes and it's time people realize that.

NY Times: I fear that neither Madeleine Albright nor Gloria Steinem really understand in what dire straits America is in and how bad it is for the poor and disenfranchised, not just for poor women but all poor. They seem to restrict their feminism for the better educated women (and men), the angry women who end up with a huge student loan and a million less in salary in their lifetime to pay it back. And Hillary said she would do something about it, so Albright and Steinem see the chances of a first female president in their lifetime and grab it, forgetting that the country needs far more than this partial feminism and that it really needs Bernie even if he is a man.

  10. The Big Game was THAT! A GREAT time for EVERYONE! Not so much for Cam Newton. He has a lot of bumps and bruises on his butt from getting sacked so many times!!! I LOVED IT!!! The Sheriff is BACK!

  11. Thanks all.  Hugs.

Demanding that that women vote fror Hillary, just because she is a women is sexism, not feminism.  I aslo said that voting for Obama just because he is black would have been racism.
