I have another very busy day today.  Jeannie (shower-aide) will arrive momentarily.  Arvilla (PT) is coming at 10 AM.  I have the Monthly Report to compose.  I need to set up a schedule for PT and OT after home health ends.  And I need to make a run to my bank.  Now Jeannie just left, and I’m the kind of kitty that’s fun to pet.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 4:21 (average 5:50).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Daily Kos: In an apparent attempt to set a new world’s record for projection, House Republicans are now accusing Democrats of wasting millions of dollars of the House Select Committee on Benghazi’s money on partisan nonsense.

Talk about partisan nonsense!

Barf Bag Alert!!

Forming the committee just to beat Hillary is partisan nonsense!

From The New Yorker: Senator Ted Cruz’s stunning victory in the Iowa caucuses is serving as a beacon of hope to despised people across the nation, a number of disliked Americans confirmed on Monday.

In interviews from coast to coast, dozens of pariahs said that the Cruz triumph meant that “the sky’s the limit” for widely hated people like them.

Andy is reporting news again.

From NY Times: Hillary Clinton and Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont were locked in an intensely tight race in the Iowa caucuses on Tuesday as Mrs. Clinton’s strong support among women and older voters was matched by the passionate liberal foot soldiers whom Mr. Sanders has been calling to political revolution.

The close results were deeply unnerving to Mrs. Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, as well as her advisers, some of whom had expressed growing confidence in recent days that they had recaptured political momentum after weeks when Mr. Sanders was drawing huge crowds and rising in the polls. The Clintons had appeared optimistic at rallies over the weekend, thanking Iowans for their support as much as urging them to turn out to vote.

The close vote means that Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Sanders are likely to split Iowa’s share of delegates to the Democratic convention, and Mr. Sanders will be able to argue that the Iowa result was a virtual tie.

I did not like watching a Hillary supported lying to uncommitted voters that Bernie favors a flat tax, and I thought Hillary’s victory announcement was disingenuous.  Since then Hillary has subsequently been declared the winner, and she gets 23 delegates to Bernie’s 21.

  1. 5:06 Tangled up in those ropes.

DKos – I did see this headline, and could not help wondering what parts of their bodies Republicans think with, since it is clearly not their brains.  Not to mention how they can possibly mistake what they are doing for thought.

New Yorker – I do not mind admitting a number of the caucus results scare me silly.  (Maybe that's not a long distance, but still.)  Cruz is only one.

NY Times – No one, no one on any side in either party, should be overconfident about the Iowa results.  Over at Daily Kos, I recommend checking out the analysis of Brooklyn Bad Boy.  Yes, he can be acerbic, and irritating, but I did not see anyone else looking past the way the numbers were distributed to the brute numbers, or in other words, turnout, and dangit, that is important.

    Cartoon – OMG!

  2. DK: Who thinks this stuff up?? The Repugs have been looking like ID's with each passing day. The taxpayers should be refunded for this debacle. "Miss Amnesia'' does the Repugs well when they want to lie and make things up!

NYer: This guy scares me…..LOL, Andy!

NYTimes: Good thing out of the article is ''the primary next Tuesday in New Hampshire. Mr. Sanders holds a solid lead in polls there and has the advantage of being from Vermont; candidates from neighboring states have won the state’s primary in recent decades, and Mr. Sanders is admired in the state.'' I'm feelin' the BERN here in TX for sure!

Cartoon: Poor Punxsutawney Phil. Here's some info on Phil: According to handlers John Griffiths and Ben Hughes, Phil weighs 15 pounds and thrives on dog food and ice cream in his climate-controlled home at the Punxsutawney Library. Up on Gobbler's Knob, Phil is placed in a heated burrow underneath a simulated tree stump on stage before being pulled out at 7:25 a.m. to make his prediction. *StormFax.

You do have a busy, busy day in store, hope that you keep up with your resting also. Enjoy your day, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

  3. Poor Phil! Must be very scary to see a repuglicon right after awakening

  4. McCarthy showed similar ethics challenges when he was Speaker of CA's Assembly…

Rubio carried the urban counties…and tied Trump for delegates.  The cards say we'll be seeing brawls of Cruz vs. Rubio soon…or else my crystal ball is broken.

I wish Hillary chose to be more ethical…perhaps that will become the lesson she learns best from Bernie.

Tis "The Winter of Our Discontent"

  5. HAPPY GROUNDHOG DAY, EVERYONE!

And a belated (by one day) HAPPY BLACK HISTORY MONTH!

  6. You are busier now than you were before you met George, don't know how you keep up the pace.

Daily Kos:  So, the emporer has no clothes  time is here again.  Every time the Repubs get caught in chicanery they try to revert the attention back to something else and blame the Democrats.

The New Yorker:  Good one, Andy!

NY Times:   Yes, she was declared the victor, but according to our news on a CBS station, six ties were decided by a flip of the coin.  I hardly think she can call this a real win.  She should be nervous.

    Cartoon:  Love it.

Personal note:  Three days ago, I had 18 inches of snow in my yard.  Today the snow was all gone and it was 72 degrees.  Love Kentucky weather!

    • Eightgeen inches of snow … gone …. in just 3 days – YIKES!

Hope there wasn't any serious flooding w/ that rapid of melt!

      • There was flooding, but fortunately, no homes were flooded this time. Lots of roads were blocked with water and land slides, though.

    • I go to bed early, inless there's a rewson to stay up, like election returns.

I understand the coin flkips made no difference.

      72° is nekkid basking weather!!

      • Well, I am a proper southern girl, so no nekkid sun bathing, but I opened every window and left the doors open all day.  Sat on the porch a lot, too.  My fur babies loved it.

  7. 2:44  Have I got this one all tied up?

  8. Ah, all shiny and fragrant again at the start of a busy day. That should have kept you going for a while, TomCat. Better make the most of it while you still have Jeannie around.

Daily Kos: The GOP can't possibly think Americans in such a short time all have forgotten the outrage that followed on making public what everyone already suspected: The Benghazi Committee was only formed because the GOP insisted on it and only to beat Hillary Clinton. Americans won't have forgotten that Hillary came out a radiant victor from that hearing and the Republican committee members as the inquisition. So there must be something else behind this new scam and that is trying to draw as many Democrats into their Benghazi trap, making them look bad and hope they will loose in the election in favor of Republicans. Well, we know what Hillary is up against should she win from Bernie and become president: about 60 repeals on the Benghazi hearing, costing the taxpayer about 200 million.

The New Yorker: "“There are a lot of despised little kids out there who probably think that they’ll never be President,” [] “Ted Cruz gives them a reason to dream.”" That'll be a rude awakening for despised people when even Republicans realized that Cruz lacks even the most basic qualities for being a president and drop him for the toad he is.

NY Times: This was a tie in most Democrat eyes, even in Hillary's, I think, and that is why she's so nervous. Good, that'll keep her on her toes and give Bernie even more confidence that his path is the right one.

Cartoon: These past years you may well wonder why groundhogs have come out at all.

  9. …..Speaking of the House Republicans to project lies on the Democrats regarding the Benghazi House Select Committee, here are some doozies from the last GOP debate.
