Yesterday I finally found a way to exchange my sharps.  I cannot use the Metro facility, because it is hazardous for people in wheelchairs.  The Lift bus won’t wait for me.  Fortunately I found a private company that actually costs less than Metro, and they come right to my door.  Jeannie (shower-aide), just left, so I’m a perfumed pussycat with shiny fur again.   Arvilla (PT) will be here within the hour.  She’ll set-up my quad cane and work me out,  Tomorrow I hope to do part of the dreaded task, while Tracey (OT) checks me for safety.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:28 (average 5:32).  To do it click here. How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Daily Kos: The most hated man in America just gave another reason to be hated. As you know, there is a medical crisis going on in Michigan with every child in Flint potentially poisoned with lead. People, especially the poor, are still desperate for clean water. Ted Cruz has entered to do the Christian thing and donate—

But only for those who work in ultra-right wing, fake pregnancy “crisis” centers.

Likely, none of Ted’s water donation will get to the children who actually need the water. That would require working with a real charity, like the Red Cross. Instead, Ted’s campaign is coordinating water donations through Flint Right to Life only to be delivered to the ideologically-aligned wingnuts who work at these awful anti-abortion centers.

For those who don’t know, pregnancy "crisis" centers are places run by pro-life extremists, which are designed to fool women into thinking they are actual medical facilities. Instead, pregnant woman are bombarded with fake information in an attempt to trick them out of having an abortion. The people who work at these centers have no qualms about lying, instilling fear, or encouraging women in abusive relationships to stay put as long as there is no abortion.

It should be no surprise that, even in so-called charity, Uranus Inspector, however you spell it, acts just like a Republican.

From The New Yorker: On Saturday, the Times reported that the former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg “has instructed advisers to draw up plans for a potential independent campaign in this year’s presidential race.” From one perspective, that isn’t too surprising. The former mayor has long been eyeing a possible run at the White House, and there has been a lot of speculation about his intentions in 2016. Last week, a well-connected New York Republican told me that he thought Bloomberg would jump in if Donald Trump won the G.O.P. nomination.

While third party candidates on the left hurt progressives and only help elect Republicans, right-wing third party candidates are a blessing to America. They help elect Democrats.

From Alternet: Nationwide blowback targeting Muslim places of worship has now reached South Milwaukee, Wisconsin–where a group calling itself the Christian Civil Liberties Union (CCLU) is aggressively opposing the construction of a new mosque.

The religious facility–Masjid Al-Hudad–does not require prior approval from the city and has already acquired the property on which it will be built.

But that is not stopping the far-right, Christian fundamentalist group CCLU from mobilizing fierce opposition, including at a Common Council meeting last Tuesday.

At the public meeting, CCLU member Bob Braun issued an unclear–but highly alarming–warning. "There’s going to be, I predict, bloodshed one of these years coming up," he said, according to local media.

Here we have one more in the long list of examples of Republican domestic terrorism.

  1. DK: The last sentence of the article describes him to a Tee!!!

AlterNet: Sounds like a wonderful place of worship, with a full indoor gym, 16 classrooms, and a church. The bigots didn't complain when the Catholics were there. Pure evil hatred!!

    Cartoon: Exactly!!

Glad to read that all is working out for you, and that you also found a great way to travel. That's great news!!
I did the dreaded task today, as it's raining, and cold outside. That way I can go snuggle in the comforter. Take good care, enjoy your evening, and Thanks, Tom.

p.s. How is Pat A doing? Hope she is feeling better…

  2. 5:36 (5:34 when I did it)  Shrooms!

DKos – Yup, that's Cruz.  One can't even be surprised.

New Yorker – Well, my dream has been for ABT to get the Republican nod and Trump to run as independent, but this way around would probably do the job just as well.  In a way better.  Because there's a third party run projected whether Trump gets nominated or not.  Whichever, may it come to pass!

AlterNet – Please tell me that this group is already on the SPLC's hate group map.  I agree that bloodshed is a real possibility.  However, that is not a reason to buckle down under their pressure, but a reason to resist more steadfastly.  I know, easy for me to say, I'm not there, but it's the old Niemöller story.  The longer before they are stopped, the more people they end up coming for.

Cartoon – You do them too much honor.  Would that Republicans were as well behaved as vultures, who not only do not generally kill, but also improve public health by cleaning up the kills of others.  (Ben's objection to the eagle was essentially that it acts too Republican.  The fact that it looks attractive while doing so is another Republican trait, at least to the sheeple.)

  3. Cartoon–clearly birds of a feather flocking together

I hope someone checks whether CCCU is a formal organization with false IRS category, et al

Is Bloomberg the only conservative with courage?

CA passed laws limiting crisis centers to only truthful advertising, etc.  I guess this is another statement on Ted's respect for truth

  4. 3:18  Psychedelic or what, man!  Must be the effects of the cat nip!

  5. Sounds like you had a busy, but good day.

Daily Kos:  Nothing Cruz does is surprising anymore.  He is such a hypocrite, he will pander to any right wing organization.

The New Yorker:  I agree with your synopsis.  I hope you are right.

Alternet:  People who make comments like his should be put on a no fly list and treated as terrorists.  We have a Mosque in our small town and so far none of the wingnuts have bothered it. I hope that continues.\

    Cartoon:  Love it.

  6. So glad you had your girls in to help! Sounds like a PARTY!
Teddy boy is no more Christian than my dog! At least my dog doesn’t spread hate like this man does!
Have a great day and see ya tomorrow!

  7. Sometimes you have luck with an accident as we say, a blessing in disguise. You could no longer use the Metro facility and you found a private company that turns out to cost less and comes to you door instead. Nice going. And all that because you get groomed regularly 😉 Good luck with the dreaded task whose name we will not mention because it brings bad luck.

Daily Kos: Just when you thought Cruz had hit rock bottom, he manages to disgust us even more. He now donates water to people in Flint but makes absolutely sure that no clean water goes to  people who do not vote for him, not even their children. Such a fine example of Republican barf bag style Christianity.

The New Yorker: A right-wing independent candidate wants to jump in if Trump gets the GOP nomination? That would add greatly to the fun, wouldn't it. And if Donald doesn't get the nomination, he'll probably go independent himself, having not a loyal bone in his body. The only downside is that two loud mouth contenders for the media's attention that is already so rigged in favor of Donald will leave very little room for the Democratic candidate and, equaly important, for all the other Democrats up for election.

Alternet: Republican domestic terrorism has free reign now all Republican candidates spew the same anti-Muslim, pro-pseudo-Christian BS and are rewarded for it in the polls. It's crawling out of the woodwork now the GOP sanctions their hatred.

Cartoon: They should have chosen a vulture as their party's symbol instead of the elephant, but that would be an affront to vultures, just as it is to elephants now.

  8. The Turkey, as we now view it, would have been the perfect symbol for the "We can't govern, and we don't care, becuse we are just happy as pigs in shit, pushing our favorite agendas, damn the real consequences for REAL people" GOP.

Teddy shows just why he is not fit to govern, in a way directly related to my above comment.

"Christian Civil Liberties Union," 'nuff said!

  9. Thanks all.  Out of time.  Hugs.  I need to go make lunch.

  10. Rubio rising in the polls,!! Lauded as a National Security Expert!! He is a member of the Armed Service,s Committee.Does NOT attend the meetings, and has the worst attendance record in either house..Just the guy to answer the phone during the night.!!.

Get INFORMED America., check the facts and then rethink your choices, Not that there are too many genuine comtenders.(If any. ) Love the Cartoon,VERY appropriate. All the best TC.
