Yesterday I basked in the glory of the holy light fro, the blessed and beneficent Ellipsoid Orb.  It promises to be a busy week, but much less so than next month.  I have more scheduling to do today.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 4:32 (average 5:08).  To do better would have risked cannibalism.  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Religious Ecstasy:

A nail-biter between excellent teams.  Phew!!!  Denver’s D was brilliant!

Short Takes:

From YouTube (H/T Pat B): Yosemite Sarah Palin

Laugh Bag Alert!!

Sam might sue the videographer for defamation of character!

From The New Yorker: One day after Donald Trump claimed that he could shoot people on New York’s Fifth Avenue and not lose support, a leading member of the random-shooting community complained that the billionaire’s random-shooting plan lacks specifics.

Harland Dorrinson, who heads the largest association of random shooters in the nation, said that Trump’s Fifth Avenue plan “lacked many of the key ingredients necessary for a credible random shooting.”

“There’s no weapons cache, no twisted manifesto to be found later by authorities,” Dorrinson said. “To anyone in the random-shooting world, Trump’s plan fails on so many levels.”

Andy is too right, There are so many demented crazies in the rabid Republican base, anxious to do it on their idols’ behalf, that Republican candidates have no reason to commit their own random shootings.  But one never knows for sure.

From FAIR.org: Great Britain won’t actually ban Donald Trump from the country but Parliament did spend time taking seriously what was called Trump’s “poisonous, corrosive” effect on public discourse. At the same time, actors, writers and others, including Harry Belafonte, Eve Ensler and Noam Chomsky, launched a Stop Hate Dump Trump campaign, that included serving notice to media that they “are accountable for normalizing Trump’s extremism by treating it as entertainment, by giving it inordinate and unequal air time and by refusing to investigate, interrogate or condemn it appropriately.”

For some journalists, this might provoke questions: Reporters can’t ignore public figures, but is there daylight between covering news of a person and providing them a near-constant, legitimizing megaphone?

For media executives, though, the main question seems to be: What time does the bank open?

I’m thinking of a report from December by Lee Fang at The Intercept (12/10/15), about how, with visions of campaign ad dollars sparkling in his eye, CBS chief executive Les Moonves cheered on Trump’s candidacy at an investor presentation: “The more they spend, the better it is for us, and: Go Donald! Keep getting out there!

This was after Trump’s comments about Mexico sending rapists to the US and his call for Muslim Americans to have to “register” with the government.,, [emphasis added]

This is what Republicans deceptively call “The Librul media”,

  1. I choose to let a vet speak on SP:

An open letter to Sarah Palin from Republican former US Navy Officer & Marine Chris Mark

I'm glad the UK finds the horrors worthy of concern–wish the GOP and US media had half their sense.

  2. 4:37 (5:09 now, you must not be the only cat out there concerned about cannibalism)  Asian lion. or African bamboo?

    Hallelujah to the Orb!

    YouTube – [[dazed silence]]

New Yorker – Yeah, but everything else he is saying and doing is half-assed.  Why wouldn't he approach this in a half-assed way too?  I'm not going out on Fifth Avenue until after the election is over.

FAIR – This is so complete and well said that the only nit I can pick is that I don't believe they care what time the bank opens.  I'm sure they do it all on line, which is 24-7, and most of them probably don't do it themselves anyway; they have minions for that.

Cartoon – This may sound off the wall, but, pace John Kenneth Galbraith, I don't think these sheep are any more looking for a superior moral justification for selfishness, if indeed they every were.  In any case, they are now the most privileged middle and lower classes in history looking for evidence that they are truly victims, because they ARE, they just know they are!

  3. As always there are two sides to being busy: on the one hand it's annoying and tiring, on the other hand it shows you've recuperated very well and taking hold of your own life again, TomCat. Kudos to you for doing that so quickly.

YouTube: LOL Great stuff. Yosemite Sam is the character in Loony Tunes I'm least familiar with, all I know he's plain weird. So he suits Sara to a T. Both make a lot of noise but no sense whatsoever.

The New Yorker: Oh, Andy, your sarcasm is dripping again…"the random-shooting community", I'm sure this particular group of Republicans goes by another name, but I'm sure it exists. And they're furious for Donald not understanding that random shooting takes planning and preparation; it's not something anyone can do at the spur of the moment! Just like Donald to think he can shoot someone on Fifth Avenue whenever he feels like it.

FAIR.org: It's a very sad state of affairs if Britain is willing to hold a debate on Trump's “poisonous, corrosive” effect on public discourse.while in America, they can't get enough of it because Trump brings in the money for media.
America is no longer half an inch removed from becoming a parody of itself, It already has become exactly that.

Cartoon: Not much different from last year's then, or the year before that or…

  4. I actually want the Donks to win over – – – –  let's just say the south. May they not be so embarrassing  as in the recent BIG games.

  5. LBA: Hysterical !!! Just like her….lol.  Tina Fey does her so well on SNL.!!!!

NYer: What a fruitcake!! LOL, Andy.

Fair.org: Watched part of the proceedings, they echo what we've been saying all along w/Thump.

    Cartoon: Good one!

Congrats on your team winning. What a game! Now, it's SB time!! Enjoy the rest of your day, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

  6. Well, the Ellipsoid Orb was kind to the Broncos and we are headed to the Super Bowl!!! Let's hope The Great Peyton has a great game that time, too!!! It was a nail-biter to the end!

Yosemite Sam may have a few words to say to guy who put Failin' Palin's voice in his mouth!! Tina Fey was easier to understand than Sarah Palin! She has to have a few drinks or something else before she does that part again!

HumptyTrump has some weird ways to pat his minions on the head! Shoot someone in Fifth Avenue and wouldn't lose a vote??? How weird a comment to make about how "loyal" his RepukkklicanTs voters are!!! I don't think I would want someone that crazy in the White House, would you? He could get away with ANYTHING if he was ELECTED!!! We gotta keep a Democrat in the WHITEHOUSE!!!

Great post, TC!!! Sounds like you are staying busy and healing well!!! So glad to hear that!!! Take care, dude!

  7. Youtube:  Love it, but Yosemite Sam might shoot whomever gave him her voice.

The New Yorker:   Andy is so great, but who knows?  Trump's craziness might inspire other crazies to do random shooting.  Trump is out of control.

Fair.org:  I have signed several petitions to the media to stop covering everything Trump does. He is a money maker for them, a disaster for the rest of us. There are very few true journalists anymore. Corporate flunkies are what most of them have become.

    Cartoon: Poor sheep.

  8. 2:53  Big puddy tat!  I love all puddy tats, even cat tails that make me sneeze!

  9. Puzzle — 2:53  Big puddy tat!  I love all puddy tats, even cat tails that make me sneeze!

YouTube — LOL!  Wonderful rendition of Bulls eye Barbie!  Kudos to Sam.

The New Yorker — One might say that the twisted manifesto is already in play . . . it's his platform . . . no Muslims, deport the 11 million illegal migrants, and build a wall!  Now, how to get him out of play?

Fair.org — The media revenues from Trump, the money they want is like the Sword of Damocles hanging over them.  There is a price to pay for the revenue . . .   Petition signed gladly.

Cartoon —  ah, the sheeple!  Fools!

  10. Thanks all.  Hugs!!  Pooped!

  11. I think Sam would have a good case!

    Trump is a random spewer!

"America is no longer half an inch removed from becoming a parody of itself, It already has become exactly that."  How great, and sad, a comment is that?
