I have another busy day today.  My shower-aide just left, leaving me smelling like a rose.  PT is coming at 9:00 and OT at 10:00, so they will have come and gone by the time I get this posted.  Arvilla (PT) is bringing a cane to see if it will give me sufficient stability to aid in transfers, when I’m out and don’t have my walker for transfers.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today;s took me 3:24 (average 5:10).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Daily Kos: Ted Nugent may have totally broken the law and called for the lynching of a sitting president and (possible) future sitting president. [Fascist criminal delinked]

Our unholy rotten soulless criminal America destroying government killed 4 Americans in Banghazi. Period! What sort of chimpass punk would deny security, turn down 61 requests for security, then tell US forces to STAND DOWN when they were ready to kickass on the allapukes & save American lives! Obama & Clinton, thats who. They should be tried for treason & hung. Our entire fkdup gvt must be cleansed asap.

Can’t you feel what Republicans call love?!!?

From Media Matters: Fox News has devoted roughly three hours to promoting the release of Michael Bay’s 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, a movie about the 2012 attacks on diplomatic facilities in Libya, praising the film, repeatedly characterizing the movie as a threat to Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, and hyping several debunked myths about the Benghazi terror attacks. More than half of the network’s 32 segments focused on falsehoods about the State Department and Obama administration’s responses to the attacks, and nearly 60 percent of the segments linked the movie to Clinton’s 2016 bid for the White House.

No matter how many times the lies are debunked, The Republican Reichsministry of Propaganda, Faux Noise, refuses to let this go.

From NY Times: In a significant victory for President Obama, a federal appeals panel on Thursday rejected an effort by 27 states and dozens of corporations and industry groups to block the administration’s signature regulation on emissions from coal-fired power plants while a lawsuit moves through the courts.

The rule, issued last summer by the Environmental Protection Agency, is at the heart of Mr. Obama’s efforts to tackle climate change. It would require each state to significantly cut greenhouse gas pollution from electric power plants, the nation’s largest source of such emissions.

Once fully in place, the regulation — which would cut emissions from existing power plants by 32 percent from 2005 levels by 2030 — could transform the electricity system, closing hundreds of heavily polluting coal-fired plants and sharply increasing production of wind and solar powers.

But the 27 states, many of which have economies that rely on coal mining or coal-fired power, have sued the administration to kill the plan. The Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit set June 2 to hear arguments in that case, although it is widely expected to be ultimately decided by the Supreme Court, most likely in 2017.

Won’t it be wonderful, if a Democratic President can replace a Republican Injustice on SCROTUS by 2017?

  1. I expect that Faux News, and the GOPigs, know, that first impressions are the most important, AND that in "Idiot America," (see the book by that name) loudness seems to matter more than truth.  These folks have no agenda but to spread propaganda; at least Goebbels, and the Nazis were honest about calling it what it was!

Ted Nugent is nothing but a fool, believing his own BS!

NY Times: "But the 27 states, many of which have economies that rely on coal mining or coal-fired power, have sued the administration to kill the plan:"  Shortsightedness on the part of these states, and the related corporate entities fighting the EPA, ought no be any one else's problem, as in "Your failure to plan, is not my problem!" We soooooo need a DEM next president!

  2. The irony WRT the viewers of the Benghazi propoganda film "13 Hours":

A man was in custody after a shooting in a Renton movie theater left a woman in serious condition. Investigators believe the man was intoxicated when he entered a showing of the film “13 Hours”

    http://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/crime/shooting-reported-at-renton-movie-theater/

(The woman shot  was originally listed in "Critical" condition, but has improved to "Serious".  I hope she makes a full recovery.)

  3. DK: What a mean hateful man. He should be arrested for his comment.  Why isn't Homeland Security checking this out?? I don't know what he's smokin', but he needs to quit, like NOW!!

MM: Question, Why isn't this in the BBA section? It deserves to be. Reminds me of the movie, 'Frozen' movie song…'Let it Go…Let it Gooooo….'

NYT: ''The rule, issued last summer by the Environmental Protection Agency, is at the heart of Mr. Obama’s efforts to tackle climate change. It would require each state to significantly cut greenhouse gas pollution from electric power plants, the nation’s largest source of such emissions.'' Score!  WTG, Mr. President!!

You did have a busy day. I just got in from volunteering, so seeing your post was my first priority coming home. Glad that things are going smoothly….that's great !! news!! Enjoy your evening, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

  4. Gosh, I hope the lady is going to be all right!!

Thank you, Nameless for your info on the shooting.

  5. Violence begats violence seems to be today's semi unifying theme…we should have learned long ago to avoid violence in both word and deed since one is the father of the son (other).

Refusal to stay sounds pretty darn hopeful.

  6. 6:01  Not too bad when you consider it took me almost 2 hours tonight to click through the French animals, which is a 10-15 minute job.

DKos – Ummm – It's news that Nugent is a criminal?  Or that he will never be required to answer for his crimes?

Media Matters – I would laugh long and loud if the movie were to turn out to be halfway truthful.  OK, I can dream.  If poisoned water weren't so critical right now, I would say Michael Moore should make one.

NY Times – So far, so good.  Fingers crossed.

  7. 2:42  No snail here!  TC, you can have l'escargot but you supply your own butter and garlic, and you do the cooking.

  8. I never really cared for Ted Nugent, now I plain dislike him.  His remarks sound like terrorism to me. I am sure the Republicans love him, though.

Media Matters:  If the FCC had any teeth they would put Faux news out of business.  Disgusting bunch of tripe is all they can produce.

NY Times:  Glad they supported him, although it will cost me more in electric bills.   The closest plant to us has been shut down because it did not meet the standards.  Our coal miners are out of work largely due to the shutdown of this plant, so I can understand why some are fighting it, their livlihood depends on coal.  Our grandchildren will benefit from this.  Unless, that is, we get a Republican in the White House and a Republican controlled Senate next round.

Cartoon:  The Republicans have worked diligently to over turn it.  Rand Paul is trying to introduce a bill that will prevent abortions after conception.

We have 15 inches of snow at our house tonight, and it is not supposed to end until Saturday evening. I hope our power stays on, if I am not here tomorrow night, that will be why.

  9. Puzzle — 2:42  No snail here!  TC, you can have l'escargot but you supply your own butter and garlic, and you do the cooking.

Daily Kos — If I recall correctly, that "chimpass punk" was actually plural . . . "chimpass punks" aka Republican congress critters who slashed the State Dept security budget, among other things.  It seems to me that Nugent has made threats before yet still manages to get a mic.  Well at least with a mic, the Secret Service should know where he is.

Media Matters — The real threat to Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign is Bernie Sanders!  This "movie" is nothing more than propaganda for the truth challenged (Faux Noise) to the truth challenged (Faux viewers).  I took the time to read a few reviews like Variety's which says:

Bay approaches his tinderbox of a subject pretty much the way you’d expect from Hollywood’s most aggressively pro-military director: Largely avoiding the political firestorm in favor of a harrowing minute-by-minute procedural, “13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi” is an experiential tour de force but a contextual blur, a shrewdly dumb movie that captures, and perhaps too readily embraces, the extreme confusion of the events as they unfolded on the ground

And of course it is the political aspect that Faux is hyping.

NY Times — "But the 27 states, many of which have economies that rely on coal mining or coal-fired power, have sued the administration to kill the plan." — Have they heard of diversification?  Don't put your eggs all in one basket?  These states and corporations are nothing but bullies.  Good on the court!  Let's hope that the SCOTUS doesn't screw things up in 2017!

Cartoon — "The Court deemed abortion a fundamental right under the United States Constitution, thereby subjecting all laws attempting to restrict it to the standard of strict scrutiny." from Wikipedia

Norma L McCorvey, who was the plaintiff under the alias Jane Roe, now is pro life and opposes Roe v Wade.  Republicans love her because she proves, in their warped minds, that women can't make good decisions in such matters.

  10. Your bath aide and PO and PT are coming quite often now and that may make you physically tired but also feeling more comfortable in your own fur, I imagine, TomCat. All the better to withstand the increasing Republican madness.

Daily Kos: That's the beauty of the internet, there's no censoring and nut cases like Ted Nugent can't control who they really are and know no restraint. Soon they go way to far and put the noose around their own necks. Now if only someone could be bothered to tighten it…

Media Matters: I know nothing about Michael Bay’s 13 Hours nor do I care to, it won't be released in Europe any time soon, but has someone traced the sponsors of this movie yet. My guess is they're the same as those that sponsored these 3 hours promotion on Faux News.

NY Times: Now that is good news to start the year with. The whole idea behind dragging the executive decision on emissions through the courts for two years is to continue burning coal like there was no regulation in place, but now the block of these regulations has been rejected by this federal appeals panel, these 27 states will either have to start lowering their emissions as planned for them or look for other ways to circumvent the decision. I'm sure these states are looking for alternatives as I write. In the end they'll probably have to be dragged into court themselves to make them lower their CO2 output.

Cartoon: Isn't it weird that the undermining of Roe v Wade only started when the Talibangelists started to dictate what the GOP stood for?

  11. Thanks all!  Hugs!!

  12. Can't wait for the NEW Democratic President to be inaugurated! Then maybe we can continue to replace some of the right-wing Facist Five! It will bring a lot of change in the Citizens United ruling! Hopefully!!
