Yesterday I went top see my new Primary Care Physician.  I was impressed that the scale had bars with which to pull myself up. .I weigh,262.  Her staff was very helpful.  Megan is young, personable and humorous.  She took the time to listen to issues and explain her reasons for her recommendations.  Today PT is coming and my bath aide should be too.  I’ll be ordering groceries and collecting medical information.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 2 57 (average 4:55).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From Daily Kos: Screw paid parental leave. Republican presidential candidate (yes, still) and Ohio Gov. John Kasich thinks new mothers and fathers should rely on their employers to “try to be creative” instead of being required to offer paid leave. And if the extent of their employers’ creativity is “come to work or you’re fired,” as it is for so many Americans, oh well.

“The one thing we need to do for working women is to give them the flexibility to be able to work at home online,” Kasich told the man who asked the question. “The reason why that’s important is, when women take maternity leave or time to be with the children, then what happens is they fall behind on the experience level, which means that the pay becomes a differential.

When folks say KKK Kasich is a moderate, call them on it!

From Alternet: Bernie Sanders’s plan to break up the biggest banks and reinstate the Glass-Steagall Act (separating investment from commercial banking) is necessary – and why Hillary Clinton’s more modest plan is inadequate.

The Reich on the left, Robert Reich, is right. Bernie’s plan is better than Hillary’s. Click through.

From Crooks and Liars: MoveOn.org’s members voted to endorse Bernie Sanders after members voted overwhelmingly for him in an online poll last week.

According to MoveOn’s executive director Ilya Sheyman, 79 percent of MoveOn’s members said they wanted to endorse Bernie. The vote shatters all previous records for member votes.

Sheyman listed the top reasons members gave for their choice, including Sanders’ commitment to tackling economic inequality, standing for communities facing injustice, saying no to permanent war, and the belief that Sanders is the more electable candidate.

This is a huge endorsement for Bernie, and will give him access to organizing resources and mobilize grassroots support for him.

Kudos to Bernie and to all the MoveOn members who voted for him, including me.

  1. Good to remember about Kasich.

I am glad the MoveOn vote was a supermajority…Meet the Press has acknowledged they were wrong to dismiss Bernie and I've been busy responding to candidate priorities' surveys with Bernie's proposals being most important…

  2. I am so glad you have a good PCP! I am so jealous! Wish I could replace one of my doctors! Sounds like you hit the jackpot!

Kasich is so ignorant about the needs of ANYONE! He needs a course in human relations! Doesn't know that women need time to heal from having a baby! I'd love to see what he would be like if he had to pass a kidney stone the size of a gold ball! That might give him an idea of what it is like to have a baby!!! Stupid man!!!

MoveOn.org is right ON!!! Love that they had that much response for Bernie!!! And Hillary is not the person to hit the megabanks and Wall Street where it hurts!!!

  3. 4:10 (4:55)  I'm not a fan of yellow as a color, but the yellow ones look the least shiny, shiny means wax, and I can't stand wax on apples.

DKos.- Yeah, like working at home helps when the baby is that little.  I have a better idea.  Kasich should personally change diapers on every baby of a working mother in the US until he or she is a year old.

AlterNet – It is way too late and too much damage has been done to be thinking about modest plans.  Only the 1% could think otherwise.

Crooks and Liars – If you hadn't done this I was going to quote from the email I received.  "Kudos to Bernie and to all the MoveOn members who voted for him, including me."  And me.

Cartoon – Does Ann Coulter realize that if they did it again,, she also would lose her right to vote?  And probably her opinion-pushing job with it?

  4. 5:16  By the time I got there, there was nothing but rotten apples left.

  5. Sounds like you've made an excellent choice with your new PCP, and her staff, TomCat. The whole practice gives the impression they take notice of their patients and take their needs into consideration. But perhaps most important of all: your new PCP has as good sense of humor. You'll get along fine, I'm sure.

Daily Kos: Kasich has profiled himself as a moderate only when the camera's of the larger media stations were focused on him and now he's even dropped that pretense. So typical for a Republican hard liner to make parental leave about women only and then simply deny them paid leave by leaving it up to the willingness of her employer. And if the employer is Republican…But the venom was in the tail. By implying that women workers would fall behind in experience level in those few months parental leave, he justifies what he calls "differential pay". Next he'll be blaming childbearing women for the gender difference in pay, because they've all fallen behind in experience level. Kassich is no moderate by a long shot, he's a misogynistic, bible thumping extremist like the rest of them.

Alternet: Another excellent article by Robert Reich. Hillary is still too tied up with the Corporate/Financial world; she believes that putting some flea powder on the dog's tail and telling him to stop wagging it, will get rid of the dog's flea infestation. Bernie on the other hand, sees that it is necessary to inundate the dog completely in flea powder for the dog to survive at all. Breaking up the biggest banks and reinstating the Glass-Steagall Act is the only way to get rid of the infestation for good.

Crooks & Liars: Now we're getting somewhere; slowly progressives are realizing that Bernie Sanders is their man and that he can actually win if people (not just Democrats) would just follow their hearts and their common sense. Bernie's plans are by far the best of all candidate's for America. And the rest of the world, I might add again.

Cartoon: Republicans are still stuck in the 19th Century.

  6. Sounds like your new PCP is "Just what the docror ordered."

(OK – you know someone was going to say it … might as well be me)

  7. Sounds like young Megan is just who you need.

Daily Kos: Kasitch looks moderate because he has such loud mouth competition.  I have a close friend who lives in Ohio, so I all ready knew the right wing agenda he supports.

Alternet:  Of course, Bernie's plan is better.  He is actually running for office to help the citizens of this country.  Clinton is a career politician and owes the big banks and Wall Street, she won't do anything that would harm them.

Crooks and Liars:  I am not at all surprised that MoveOn.org has endorsed Bernie.  He fits the criteriea that most on there want to see in a President.  I hope their endorsement helps him.

Cartoon:  and they would today, too, if they could and get away with it..

  8. I too, voted for Bernie @ Move On! Awesome news!!

Cartoon: If they had their way, it would still be like that!!

Sounds like things are moving along smoothly for you, and for that, I'm glad to read how your day w/go. Megan sounds like a perfect fit for you, ico your needs. Enjoy your day, take care, and Thanks, Tom.

  9. Thanks all!  Hugs!
