Yesterday was a very hectic day, and tomorrow promises to be similar.Later this afternoon, I plan to try to give myself a whore’s bath in the sink.  I’ll probably get a shower aide next week.  I have a grocery delivery today.  Tomorrow I will be gone almost all day to an appointment with my doctor way across town, so expect only a personal update, and that may be late.

Short Takes:

From Daily Kos: New video details a tragic incident in which Paradise, California, police officer Patrick Feaster shot and killed an unarmed DUI suspect after a chase and fatal car crash. The Chicago Tribune reports:

Recordings show that police in Northern California initially dismissed a man’s claim he had been shot by an officer after a high-speed pursuit and rollover accident that killed another person.

Paradise, Calif., police Officer Patrick Feaster didn’t tell his commanding officer for 11 minutes at the accident scene that he had fired his gun, according to recordings obtained by the Paradise Post.

Trapped in the overturned vehicle, the man told officers twice that he had been shot, the newspaper reported Wednesday.

The shooting, which was captured by a dashboard camera, had prompted protests in Paradise, 90 miles north of Sacramento. The officer has said he accidentally shot the driver, who was paralyzed by a wound to the neck. Prosecutors concluded that there was no basis for filing criminal charges against Feaster, who remains on paid administrative leave.

Another Republican Ammosexual cop is getting away with attempted murder.

From Crooks and Liars: A Wisconsin Republican state senator has been accused of inciting a "vigilante uprising" after he called on law-abiding gun owners to "clean our society of scum bags"

Rep. Bob Gannon (R) responded to a recent shooting at East Towne Mall in Madison by saying that the incident could have been stopped if more people were carrying guns. During the incident over the weekend, a teen was shot in the leg and suffered non-life threatening injuries.

More armed Republican Ammosexuals = more dead innocents than perpetrators.

  1. The cop invovled with the shooting has no from men excuse for shooting the man in the wreck! How is that not a reason NOT to charge this cop?? At least a charge of wreckless discharge of a weapon!!! He shot the person that was ALREADY paralysed!!! That makes NO SENSE!!

Some of the sheriff's of Oklahoma have taken to making it easier for people to get their carry-concealed licenses by not charging the fees for them to get them!!! There's two counties, so far, that are doing that!! And they are broadcasting it on all the t.v. stations in the state to make sure ALL the idiots can get the message!!! I don't know if I want to live on this continent ANY MORE!!! Guns, guns, friggen guns!!! Ugh, INDEED!! And this state senator is just ANOTHER bullet in the guns of these unfrigginbelievable war on PEOPLE that don't look like them or worship like them!!

  2. It makes me tired just to read your schedule.  Of course I had to go out and shop for groceries yesterday so I am still tired out from that.  I guess it's no wonder I'm having trouble staying awake.  (Yawn.)

DKos – I would love to see more decent young people become LEOs and get our police forces cleaned up.  However, I cannot in conscience recommend young people to do that.  Unless they consciously choose to make a career out of metaphorically beating their heads against the wall.  I tried that and it's not really fun.

AlterNet – I often wonder what has changed – well, everything has changed, but what has changed humans so much.  Conditions like this in 1792 resulted in the French Revolution.  Conditions like this throughout history have resulted in pitchforks and torches.  What is wrong with us today?  If, like me, you are about to sink into deep depression reading this and other stories of depravity, at least todau I can point you to a partial anecdote.  Markos Moulitsas of Daily Kos has decided to share some of his life story, including why he is still passionate about progressivism.  This quote may not reflect an actual turning point for him, but it kind of feels like a turning point in the telling, doesn't it?

"(O)ne of the things that happens when you get a big payday is you get to calculate how much of the money will be taken away by taxes…. So it’s easy to see how people with money might suddenly become more conservative, because they’re thinking holy shit the government is stealing my hard earned money!  I won’t pretend that thought didn’t cross my mind, but it was quickly followed by holy shit I can’t believe how much money I still have left over!  And then I thought of all the government spending that helped get me to where I am today…."

Crooks and Liars – And Republicans might stop spewing so much poison into American daily life and politics if they would only stock up more poison.  And use it on themselves.

Cartoon – My child self was one of those, sometimes estimated as high as near 40%, who are terrified by Santa.  You don't think there might be a connection, do you?

  3. Paradise is a pretty conservative incorporated town of just over 26,000 where people are often left alone if they keep to themselves, including folks who live off the grid.  It also attracts lots of visitors and tourists for its beauty and one might expect outsiders to be treated different than locals by the police. In similar cases in CA's towns, Kamala Harris (who is running for Boxer's Senate seat) has initiated a state investigation as AG.

    The numbers are truly numbing.

I hope someone with legal authority joins in the accusation with charges in WI.

Hope you get all the answers and action you need from your doctor.

  4. Just what does Bob Gannon (R-IDIOT) think will happen in his “wet dream” of “vigilante justice” when untrained, but armed-to-the-teeth Average Joes start firing away in already chaotic circumstances in crowded public spaces that include kids?

I’ll tell you what will result: innocent people are going to be wounded and killed!

    Simple as that.

  5. Not my picture of Paradise!

I expect that Bob Gammon can't imagine the craziness at the mall, if who knows how many "good citizens" start shooting when something goes wrong.  Seems like some version of a bonzo video game come to life!

Alternet: "You can have it all!" St.Reagan intoned, and those in the position to shift wealth up the ladder, including him, wasted no time in doing so!  "Reagonomics," "Trickle down" economics, are/were the euphemisms hiding the shift of wealth, that, had it gone the other way, would have been called communism!

Since Roosevelt's "New Deal," the conservatives have been assiduously working to undo all he did, and they have been getting their way.  The destruction of the union movement by Reagan and Scott Walker, is just one example thereof.

  6. Thanks for extending my vocabulary with a new phrase, TomCat πŸ˜‰ I hope everything went well at the doctor's today.

Daily Kos: I can't watch any videos due to a very slow internet connection, but what I can see from the image this seems indeed another cop who got away with murder. The more cops are protected by their superiors, the more often people will get murdered as a matter of procedure. Cops are protected and above the law and are free to be judge and jury too. There's no end in sight.

Alternet: The answer is right there in the text of the article: make sure that the 1% pays their taxes. i.e. no more tax havens or evasions, and raise the taxes. It's all very simple, really. Just one thing missing: legislators willing to pull these laws through Congress.

Crooks and Liars: Bob Gannon may have been accused of inciting a "vigilante uprising", but we all know that'll be the end of it. It's just like Climate Change, next year will break all this year's records.

    Cartoon: Argh indeed.

  7. Thanks all.  Hugs.  Going to the doctor in about 90 minites.  Hugs!
