This will be my only post today.  I’m taking it easy, because I’m very tired.  Yesterday had it’s high and low points.  It started well with me making three laps after breakfast.  After lunch the Occupational Therapist had me practice transfers from bed  to the portable commode and back.  That tired me out.  Then the Physical Therapist came and took me outside.  I took a lap around a circular path in an enclosed garden.  I enjoyed getting out and about, bur wheeling my fat ass and a heavy wheelchair uphill was excruciatingly difficult and exhausted me completely.  When I returned to my room, all the laxatives and stool softeners they have been giving me for Replicitis gave me acute Republicosis.  I made my third trip to the portable commode, since 2 AM.  However, I was so weak and tired that I almost fell, and pulled muscles in my good leg slightly.  Afterwards, I transferred back to bed.  I did not get up for supper, and had a special supper of binding foods.

Today I feel much better, but my good leg is still sore, and my hands are very sore and stiff.  I did two  laps around the unit, and left the unit to go to an observation area, where I can see outside.  I took some pictures for you.  The surgical team removed the Xeroplast bandage from my donor site, which is almost healed.  After I returned to bed, a doctor came to put a stump shrinker on me.  It feels like I’m getting electrical shocks on my nonexistent left foot.  I’ll be getting up for lunch soon, and may have to finish this later.

It’s later.

Short Takes:

From The New Yorker: In a major foreign-policy announcement on Wednesday, the Republican Presidential candidate Ben Carson unveiled a detailed plan to Google Syria.

Speaking in Iowa, the retired neurosurgeon told an audience of supporters, “Any responsible policy on Syria must begin with a fact-finding mission, and such a mission must begin with Googling.”

He said that “Google holds the key” to many questions about Syria. “Where is it? Who lives there? How many square miles is it? These are all things that have to be pinned down,” he said.

Carson, who leads several Republican Presidential polls, said that while his search for answers would start with Google, he would “not rule out” seeking information at Wikipedia and beyond. “No Web site should be taken off the table at this time,” he said.

Sorry Andy. Interest in fact finding from anyone in the Clown Car, especially Uncle Token, is just not credible.

From Daily Kos: Okay so, here’s the thing about Black Lives Matter (BLM):  When it comes to black people and the police, there is no question that the police act as judge, jury, and executioner. They kill with impunity. There is no accountability or redress. This is how it’s been historically: The entire justice system appears to act in collusion with this, and structural racism (also known as white supremacy) has facilitated the ease of these attacks on a segment of the population that is a numerical minority. That is BLM’s beef with law enforcement in a tiny nutshell.

Now let’s step outside of that nutshell for a moment. When you step outside of that lens, here is what you see: The police act as judge, jury and executioner with the population at large. They kill with impunity. There is no accountability. And the entire justice system appears to act in collusion with this. This horrible case out of Brunswick, Georgia, appears to bear this out.

And when I say horrible, I mean horror-bull.

Click through for more disgusting details. Every community needs a Citizen Review Board with full investigative powers and the power to fire officers for cause.

From PR Watch: The Center for Media and Democracy, a national watchdog group exposing corporate influence on democracy, has submitted evidence to New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman showing how Exxon Mobil has promoted climate change denial through the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). CMD believes this information is relevant to the landmark investigation into whether Exxon Mobil deceived its shareholders and the public about the impact that burning fossil fuels has on climate change.

“Exxon Mobil has bankrolled ALEC for decades and has a seat on ALEC’s corporate board, as ALEC has plied legislators with disinformation and denial about climate change and pushed legislation and resolutions to block crucial federal and state efforts to address the climate crisis,” said Lisa Graves, Executive Director of the Center for Media and Democracy and former Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Office of Legal Policy at the U.S. Department of Justice under both Attorneys General John Ashcroft and Janet Reno.

CMD has identified at least $1,730,200 in funding from Exxon Mobil to ALEC between 1998 and 2014, based on publicly available disclosures, although the actual total is likely higher. CMD has documented Exxon funding for ALEC at least as early as 1981.

This funding makes Exxon Mobil one of ALEC’s biggest financial supporters as ALEC has promoted legislation, resolutions, presentations, and publications seeking to stop efforts to address climate change, and has indoctrinated thousands of state legislators with the idea that “a great deal of scientific uncertainty” surrounds the science of climate change and that carbon emissions “may even be beneficial.”

Schneiderman should file charges against both Exxon Mobil and ALEC, and prosecute them to extinction.

  1. Hey, man, that is one hell of a way to try to meet some cute babes!

PR Watch- Schneiderman ought to go after ExxonMobile , and ALEC with rabid intensity!!

The Caroline Small situation appears to have no wiggle room for for excuses from the trigger happy bozos!

For a guy who is "Back from the edge," you look great.  Let me add that there is a guy who attends my gym, who has lost both legs.  He works, assiduously, on building arm strength for the purpose of getting around in his wheelchair…sounds like a good idea for you, whenever you can.

  2. New Yorker — I almost posted this in the OT and then I remembered I promised you I would not post Andy.  I guess Carson, with his simplistic mind, thinks Google can solve any problem!  Well if it could, I am sure that the Republican campaigns would not exist.

Daily Kos — This case is disgusting! . . . no, way past disgusting!!  Citizen Review Board with full investigative powers and the power to fire officers for cause — YES!!!  Take District Attorneys out of the political realm, judges too!

PR Watch — I hope that Schneiderman files charges and prosecutes them, nailing their asses shut so they are poisoned by their own republicittis!

Cartoon — Another Republican-Democratic disagreement.  See Politico.

Great pics!  So you finally caught two, and that's no fish tale!  You're looking great by the way!  Take care Puddy Cat!

  3. You do look good – I'm sure you are tired, but I think you may have been tired-er before this all happened.  You look perkier than I have seen you in a LONG time.

I try not to take my wheelchair uphill any more without help, but when I must, I go backwards.  At least that way I do not have to worry about falling back and hitting my head, the thought of which scares the bejeezuz out of me.  I think I have already mentioned mine turns surprisingly well, so I don't lose any time fidgeting.  And like Mitch's acquaintance, I give attention to keeping my arms strong as much as I can.  Not, I'm sure, nearly as well as he does, but some.

New Yotker – Interest in fact finding, no.  Making a big show of pretending interest in fact finding, yes.  And this is just the was he'd go about it.

DKos – I would bet, despite her drug/alcohol issues, any one of those officers had more drugs in his little finger than she had in her whole body at the time of the murder.  But I suspect she, her daughters, her ex-husband, and the rest of the public, including you and me, are screwed.  The only faint gllimmer of hope I can see is if grand jury hearings do not come under double jeopardy rules as actual trials do.  Even then it may be a long time coming.

PR Watch – Of course he should.  But will he?  I am betting he will see more pressure over this case than – well, than any hunderd people see in a lifetime.  I wish him all the luck in the world.

Cartoon – Well, of course they did.  Xenophobes then, xenophobes now.

  4. Lookin' good! And you do have you some purdy nurses. I'm sure that their presence keeps you perked up.

Any chance of you getting a motorized wheelchair? I see people around here heading down the road in them. You could increase your mobility.

Take care and get your rest. You seem to be getting better and better every day.

  5. Absolutely luv Luv LUV the photos of you in your temporary environs … kibbutzing w/ your new "friends"!

  6. It sounds like you had two very exhausting days, but are still making good progress.  Good for you. Thanks for sharing the pictures, you look pretty good in both them, and those are cute nurses, so you have something nice to look at.

The New Yorker: Carson has caused the "its not brain surgery" remark to become obsolete.  If he can do it, anyone can, obviously.  I caught a quick look at something on tv today saying he had drawn a map of the US for one of his ads and got all the boundaries wrong.  Huh?  And he wants to be President?

Daily Kos:  That is beyond disgusting.  I read through the whole article and with the little legal knowledge I have , can clearly see that this was a cover up and justice was not done.  Surely after the investigations by the paper and tv station, someone there will reopen the case.  If they don't, the Justice Dept. should.

PR Watch:  All ALEC is, in my opinion, is a front man for the polluters.  Too much of our legislation has been written by ALEC in the last twenty years, too.  Congress should be forbidden from using outside sources for legislation, but as long as the GOP holds most of it, that will never happen.

  7. "…my nonexistent left foot"

I hope that was the foot that you had to have periodic treatments on.

  8. You are sounding much better even though you're tired out. All that physical exercise is paying off. You caught a couple nurses.

Thanks for the pix of your view.

    • AB is always welcome my friend.

One simple and easy to do on one's own exercise for upper extremities strength (including when sitting) is to bring your arms in a round position with your hands an inch or two from each other in front of your rib cage with your fingers loosely open facing each other with your thumbs also pointing each other parallel with your fingers–a position used in Qi Dong and looking something like ballet hands.  The intent is to hold the position as long as possible.  If done standing, permitted to lower the hands to in front of pelvic region (for others than TC thinking to try).  Getting up to doing for two minutes without challenge is considered pretty good.

    • Thanks for the cross-post link. Hugzzz…

  9. Aww….love the pictures!! You look good with your smile, and your visiting nurses. Be careful going up and down hills, you should look into getting a motorized one, like Bonnie asked above.

NYer: This would be funny, Andy, if it weren't true. He's 'out there' for sure.

DK: What a frightening video! Unbeliveable behavior from people who are supposed to 'protect and serve'. Outright murder, and then lying about it.

Hope that you enjoy the rest of your day….take good care, and Thanks, Tom.

  10. Thanks all!

    Hugs!!

  11. Wow, it's so great to see you again, TomCat. For one who's gone through major surgery, has fought off a ravenous bug, has lost the memory of three weeks of his life and who is now doing "hard exercise" to get him adjusted to a new way of life, you're looking amazing! Thank you so much for including these photos! Take good care of yourself, a few après-excercise catnaps are on their way.

The New Yorker: Andy is brilliant in pointing out that Ben Carson doesn't have a clue about Syria or any other country outside America, and that he hasn't even bothered to look up some information. Andy's hints to look things up are delicious: "Where is it? Who lives there? How many square miles is it? These are all things that have to be pinned down.” Andy even drops names like Wikipedia in the vain hope Carson will actually read up on something. LOL.

Daily Kos: After watching the video, reading the Daily Kos article and that of AJC Over the Line, the case seems clear. It was murder, should have been brought before the grand jury and then have gone to trial. The only question left now is: Why did DA Jacky Johnson breach ethics and did everything else possible to keep this case out of the courtroom? The articles mention a conflict of interest: Johnson  was concerned about damaging her relationship with the Glynn County Police Department. What was so special about that relationship that she went overboard and took extraordinary measures to aid Sasser and Simpson in their defense? What se did to help them comes down to sabotage; all because she had a good relationship with de DP? This stinks to high heavens and if Caroline Small's kids are ever going to see justice done for their mother's murder, this case should be re-opened and very thoroughly investigated, especially where Ms Johnson is concerned.

PR Watch: See, 'follow the money' does work. What Exxon and Alec have done together is not only unethical and disgusting but criminal, jeopardizing the lives of thousands if not millions of lives by "indoctrinat[ing] thousands of state legislators with the idea that “a great deal of scientific uncertainty” surrounds the science of climate change and that carbon emissions “may even be beneficial.”" It'll be far too late, but one day there will be a special court for climate change crimes, similar to the courts for war crimes or crimes against humanity.

    • And if convicted of climate crimes, the punishment will be having to live outside of the glass-bubble-controlled-artificial-eco-systems which the rest of us will have been forced to resort to in order to survive.  I love it.
