The surgery went very well.  They removed dead tissue from my stump and covered it with a skin graft, cut from my thigh.  That donor site is very painful.  Keeping me doped up makes it barely tolerable.  It also makes it difficult to write, because I’m so drowsy.  I watched football.  Vivian…  GRRRRR!!

Short Takes:

From Daily Kos: I’m not going to link to the list, but a list of purported KKK members began circulating this morning, allegedly leaked by the activist group Anonymous, which they are now denying they had anything to do with it.

None of the names have been remotely close to verified as members of the racist group.

One of those named was Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero, who regretfully took to her Facebook page to put an immediate and decisive stop to the rumor.

I recently posted that I was looking forward to seeing this list. My bad for being hoodwinked. The problem with Anonymous is their anonymity. Anyone can claim to be the group.

From The New Yorker: According to a format negotiated between the Republican National Committee and the television networks, future Presidential debates during the 2016 campaign will strictly forbid questions about things the candidates “said” or “did,” the R.N.C. confirmed on Monday.

Reince Priebus, the chairman of the R.N.C., said that the deal addressed the candidates’ concerns about the previously broadcast debates, which he called “abusively fact-based.”

“In some cases, moderators were asking candidates questions about statements they made two or three weeks earlier,” Priebus said. “This new format will eliminate that kind of ancient history.”

Andy knows that GOP would love to do that. However, only the Republican Reichsministry of Propaganda would goose step with the RNC on this scheme.

From Huffington Post: House Republicans are angling to slip two pieces of bank deregulation into a major highway funding bill that is expected to pass with broad bipartisan support.

According to a source familiar with discussions, Republicans are trying to remove tighter regulations that were imposed on banks with at least $50 billion in assets after the 2008 financial crisis. They also are aiming to weaken the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau — a brainchild of Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), which has worked to prevent big banks, payday lenders and other financial firms from ripping off households.

The GOP doesn’t need Democratic votes to pass the broader highway bill — it has a wide majority in the House. But while securing federal highway funding is a top Democratic priority, controversial riders like the bank deregulation items may prompt a veto from President Barack Obama that would be impossible to override without Democratic aid. The riders could also serve as a potential test of new House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and his willingness to use major legislation to ram through conservative priorities.

Bankster deregulation is a poison pill far too bitter to swallow. We can’t stop it in the House, but be ready to call your Senators.

  1. I'm glad the surgery went well.  Bank deregulation is an evil, period.

  2. Auto-skin graft host-sites can, indeed, be painful.

At first I thought your "Not Fun" graphic was photoshopped – but not so sure now.  Looks like a cat w/ a very large tumor that’s been shaved, prepped (that orange color looks like Betadine) and intubated.

If it's any consolation on this outing, I think you're better off than that cat.

  3. Here is a direct link to Care2 article . . . On the Edge –11/3/2015

  4. I'm surely glad Nameless is around to interpret your cartoon, because I could not make heads nor tails of it.  Based on his interp, which makes sense and hangs together, I would agree you are better off than the cat, even if not by too much.

So glad you are staying in touch.  Those darned Repubs keep trying to get away with murder.

    • WRT the New Yorker – “This is a Presidential debate,” Priebus said. “If people want facts, they can watch ‘Jeopardy.’ ”

But – A new conservative group called Wisconsin Alliance is out with a TV spot, which Politico says is running for "six figures on a digital, cable and broadcast buy." The ad depicts three contestants on what's supposed to be Jeopardy! answering "Who is Russ Feingold" in response to statements like, "He voted against pay raises for the military 15 times."   (Daily Kos Election Digest)

      So much for Jeopardy.

  5. TC, I am sorry you are having such a rough time.  We are all keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.  It is great to see your posts again.  Glad you are not giving Lynn a pink slip, she has been hard at work for all of us here.

Daily Kos:  The Knoxville mayor did a good job contradicting the anonymous source.  I am familiar with Mayor Jim Gray who was recently elected for another term as Lexington, Ky.'s mayor.  He has done an excellent job for the city, and has my respect, as well as the citizens of that town.  I am usually skeptical of any article that is anonymous.

The New Yorker:  They would do this if they could, so may of them are whiners.   Kentucky did a great job of electing a bunch of them again today.  I only won once, with Grimes for Secretary of State.  The Republicans featured Obama, the coal killer, in every ad they ran against Conway.  Very effective in this state, due to the high unemployment rate for a major industry.  Bevins, who won, is a perfect Republican, refused to give up his tax returns for public scrutiny, has had delinquent taxes on his businesses, multiple times, plans to do a way with KyConnect, one of the few ACA programs that has been effective, and drug test senior citizens who apply for Medicaid.  Doesn't he sound wonderful?

Huffington Post:  I will call my senators, but we both know my phone call will be wasted on MCConnell and Paul.

    Poor kitty.

  6. Daily Kos: Anonymous w/be releasing their data tomorrow, November 5th @10 am CT. I hope that it's correct, as I too, jumped on the bandwagon here on C2.

New Yorker: Of course they are not going to take responsiblity for anything and the state of affairs now. All ID's, LOL Andy! So true though.

Cartoon: Hope that the kitty in pic w/be okay….and I hope that you get relief, and impove every passing day, TC. Prayers your way! Do take good care, and Thanks, Tom.

  7. You continue to be in my prayers TomCat.  The hardest part of healing and recovery in the hospital may well be sufficient patience.  Thanks for the update re: anonomous and the KKK–I hadn't seen that yet.

  8. Stay well and heal fast!

  9. My heart is with you, T.C. I've spent more than my share of time in the hospital through the years. All I can say is I'm grateful for potent drugs at times like these, and the blessing of not needing them after that time passes. Let's hope it passes quickly, and you will be better than ever soon.

  10. Thanks everyone!  I continue to improve.Hugs.
