Today I’m filling in for a fellow filler-inner, as Lynn is unfortunately felled with the flu.  Me?  I’m feeling fit as a fiddle … for now.

PUZZLE

I don’t do the puzzles, but Lynn was kind enough to send me the Link to today’s jigsaw.  It took her 3:16, and the average is 5:19.  (If I did them, my times would be measured in hours … or maybe even DAYS!)  But you nimble-fingered folks can do it here …

SHORT TAKES

HURRICANE PATRICIA

Hurricane-Patricia_Map-Color

The lead story on all the news channels this morning has been the monster storm, Hurricane Patricia.  And on that front (no pun intended), there’s some good news from the Weather Channel site:

Former Hurricane Patricia was downgraded to a tropical storm Saturday morning just 13 hours after becoming the strongest hurricane ever known to make landfall on the Pacific coast of Mexico.

But still there will be people in dire need of help, so here are a few reputable donation sites – and feel free to add any more you’re familiar with:

RACHEL MADDOW INTERVIEWS HILLARY

Fresh off her 11-hour grueling marathon grilling by Trey Gowdy and his band of ___________ (since this is a family-friendly site, I’ll let YOU fill-in the blank), Hillary Clinton sat down with Rachel Maddow for a wide-ranging and informative interview last night.  And it wasn’t just about the Benghazi hearing – it covered issues from the Middle East to veterans to her husband’s (“Big Dog”) record.  Since WordPress doesn't permit MSNBC embeds, you can read about it AND watch it here …

And for those of us with hearing impairment, the transcript is here …

JEB BUSH – MAYBE NOT THE TITANIC YET … BUT TAKING ON WATER

We learned that Jeb!’s campaign is not doing well – in either poll numbers or raising money – so he is cutting way back … on EVERYTHING!

Bush's advisers, under pressure from their donors and from falling and stagnant poll numbers, came to the conclusion that a course correction was essential.  Jeb! … cut payroll by 40 percent and … also cutting back 45 percent of its budget.

Word is out that in order to save some advertising dollars, Jeb has revamped his logo:

Jeb! becomes Jeb

And for our Spanish-speaking friends:

¡Jeb! beomces Jeb

Personally, I would have gone with one of these:

OR maybe even more apropos …

OBAMA CALLS REPUBLICANS “GRUMPY CAT”

Man, I am SOOO going miss having Pres. Obama around.  Especially now that it’s clear that he just does NOT have any more “gucks to five”.

“Why is it that Republican politicians are so down on America? Have you noticed that? I mean they are, they are gloomy. They’re like Grumpy Cat,” Pres. Obama said Friday as he made a Grumpy Cat face. “Everything’s terrible according to them. ‘We’re doomed!’

“It’s like the twilight zone and according to their story, their narrative, everything was terrific back in 2008 when unemployment was skyrocketing and uninsured rates were rising and folks were losing their homes and their jobs and we were engaged in two wars and Bin Laden was still at large,” he said. “If you were listening to them, those were like the good old days, the golden years and then I came in and the Democrats came in — but according to them, that’s when everything all went to heck.”

SAY TREY – HOW’S THAT HORSE YOU ALL HAVE BEEN BEATING?  STILL DEAD?

And if you didn’t believe that the GOP is obsessed with Hillary and BENGHAZI, I think these charts will quickly disabuse you of that notion.  And you can read the details at ThinkProgress.

(Sorry – forgot where I got the third one)

Since I’m just filling in for a fellow filler-inner, I have found a fitting Tag for the final fling …

So I’ll just thank Trey Gowdy et al for allowing me to close with a snapshot of Hillary sending a text to Trey following that old Proverb, “She who laughs last, laughs longest”

  1. Puzzle ~ 3:56 I'm sure Lynn would beat my time because it's apurple flower to match her hair.

  2. thanks

  3. posted to Care2 at http://www.care2.com/news/member/101612212/3921049

5:21 average up to 5:40  [48 piece classic]  Gotta tiptoe around butterflies so as not to spook them.

Patricia – I was so glad to see it downgraded, first to a Cat 2 from Cat 5, and now to a tropical storm.

Rachel/Hillary – Thanks for the transcript too.  I am just better with reading.

Jeb – Those are good logos.  Yes.  Actually hard to choose between them because both are so suggestive.

Obama – Doesn't he make the best Grumpy Cat?  Sort of Plus royaliste que le roi (except that Grumpy is a reine).

    Hillary/Trey – Ain't that the truth!

  4. Hurricane "Me" ~ I'm glad I was down-graded in this instance.

RM Interviews Hillary ~ Thanks for the link to the transcrip, Nameless. I fell asleep before the show came on last night and missed it. Hillary was great. If Bernie loses the Primary, I''l vote for her of course.

Jebby ~ I love the graphics! Jebby's backers might want to think about how they're throwing away their money.

Grumpy Cat is more optimistic than they methinks.

Trey is feeling sorry for himself today.

  5. It appears Mexico was almost Monster Mashed.

Impeach Obama!  Referring to Republicans as cats is unforgiveable.

  6. Part 1:

Short: Glad that Hurricane Patricia is slowing down and has become less threatening.

Trey Gowdy and his merry band of GOP "turds". Fits right in with one of the Jeb's logos above. lol. Glad to see that Jeb's, aka "Dumya", numbers are falling. We cannot allow this "turd" anywhere near the White House nor any other GO/TP person either.

Rachel Maddow Interview: Excellent and they talked about issues. At one point during the interview, Hillary mentioned the GOP 's "Ideological Purity Test…" I had to google it, out of curiosity and actually did find that there is such a thing.

    https://www.google.com/search?q=%22Ideological+Purity+Test%22&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:unofficial&client=firefox-a

The funniest one is this one but it does contain an element of truth in it:   http://www.huffingtonpost.com/trish-wend/gop-ideological-purity-te_b_376042.html

An earlier one put out by Raygun was written by Jack Anderson back in 1980, Have a look at the questions which were asked of prospective candidates for jobs with the Raygun administration. You'll get the idea.

Love the short video of Obama doing the "grumpy cat". A Good One! lol.

The GOP's obsession with Hillary was certainly beating on a dead horse. It's still dead! Trey:Take a note, Benghazi is DEAD!

    • The HuffPo take on the GOP "Purity Test" is funny!  And I think it has quite a bit more than just an element of truth – it's pretty spot-on!

    • Jim, I shared the purity test on Facebook, I will get slammed tomorrow, but it was just too funny not to share.  Thanks!

    • Yes, I agree the GOP should be paying for this circus – but then Hillary REALLY might have to declare it as a campaign contribution.

    • I had signed the petition last night.  Shared the Washington Post article on FB.  I may not go there tomorrow. LOL

    • I also signed the petition, a couple of days ago.  They are such a bunch of reprobates, they're an international joke.

I didn't have a chance to see her interview with Ms. Maddow yet, so I really appreciate the link.  Yes, the trolls on FB will have a conniption alright….but it's so worth it.  Thanks for the service to us!

  8. What happened yesterday just south of Vallarta in Nogalito when Patricia came  on shore 60 miles due south.

    http://www.oakcreekforum.blogspot.mx/

  9. Yes, I have been downgraded, thankfully. We are fresh from the destructive Hidden Pines Fires here in Texas, and now almost 9 inches of torrential rain last night, all of today, and tomorrow.

Excellent video of Ms. Clinton and Rachel.

Liked the 'new' logo for Mr. Jeb.

Grumpy Cat is adorable, and I loved Mr. Obama's comments about the Repugs…

Ms. Clinton Kicked A – – !!!! Gowdy is still covered in slime sweat.

Thanks, TC 😉 and Nameless for post. Have a good evening, y'all.

  10. This time of year cruise ships historically would've been taking passengers to that part of the coast…scary stuff.

Another organization responding to the disaster:

    http://www.mercycorps.org/?source=WPW01024&utm_source=bing%20sem&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=bing%20sem%20evrgrn

Poor Jeb–no more private plane campaign trips.

Nostalgia would more appropriately be about the arts: music, drama, etc. and/or vintage fashion and other trends that were fun…never before heard folks feel it about a feeling of unbridled power and control before.

    Love the Hilary poster.

  11. Hillary texting Trey…I love it!

    Thanks Nameless

  12. EXCELLENT post, Nameless! The last one was a humdinger!!

    Loved all of it, dude!

  13. Thanks for the links on Hurricane Patricia, and congratulations on your promotion.

Rachel Maddow:  I read the transcript, Hillary did a great job in the interview, as did Rachel with her questions.

Jeb Bush:  Great news, the last thing we need is another Bush in the White House, as much as I deplore Trump, at least he has quashed Jebya's run.

Obama:  And Faux news has kept up the bombardment until their silly viewers really believe that the Prez is responsible for their misery, nevermind the mismanagement of EVERYTHING under Dubya.

I read today that Trey Gowdy had pretty much given Hillary the White House with his performance.  I hope that is right, even though I love Bernie.

    Cartoon:  Love it.

  14. Thanks for a marvelous post, Nameless.

A lot can happen in the coming year, but for now it's impossible to say who'll come out on top in the GOP. Jeb was so sure that he could cash in on his legacy as Bush III and having people think he's a moderate, but by now he's learned that the legacy doesn't mean all that much to the rabid base, not that many fancied a plate of cold meat and potato salad for a mere $ 100,000, and that people aren't interested in a candidate who is just as racist, homophobic, misogynistic and looking out for the 1% only as the rest of them, they want a candidate who has double of all that and a huge mouth that isn't connected to a brain.
For the Democrats Hillary just had her primary nomination handed to her on a platter by the Republican Bengazi committee. Of course she can trip in the coming year, but that seems very unlikely now. If she does, she can always resend the text message of the last cartoon to Gowdy.

  15. The republicans could not have done anything more to elect Hillary than what they have just done.  The, excuse the metaphor, cat was out of the bag when McCarthy inadvertently blurted out the truth behind the hearings.  They should have stopped there but just couldn't – if ever a bunch was more inclined to know absolutely nothing about what is going on in the real world, it is today's gop.  That was an 11 hour Hillary campaign fund, paid for by the taxpayers, in which she looked postively presidential and the republicans like the fools they are.  Reading various papers and forums, I have seen enough people to elect her now say that they were on the fence, might not have voted if she were the nominee, but were so impressed with her command of issues, her demeanor and her stamina that their admiration for her had just been increased tremendously.  And, the other happy side of the coin is that the republicans looked, and acted, as pathetic as they possibly could.  Their questions inane, inarticulate and well, dumb.  She could never have bought that kind of publicity and exposure and I expect she will fully capitalize on it.  Now I just hope her move to the left sticks and that she slides even more in that direction.  As Jeb's brother infamously put it, she just earned a ton of political capital, and I am quite sure she will spend it more wisely than did GW.
