I call this Update #6.5 because it is in some ways an update, but in another way it is momentous news deserving of it's own post!
I spoke with TC!
OK, so it's not Cinco de Mayo today!
But my feelings, well it is a day to celebrate!
And this is the only picture that has TC all dressed up to party!
I called the hospital yesterday afternoon to speak with Tom but he was sleeping. Incase you don't know, cats sleep a lot! So I spoke briefly with Lynn, Tom's nurse. She suggested I call back which I did about 2 hours later. She was able to hold the phone for him to listen but he is still unable to talk . . . just yet.
I told him four things:
- we all LOVE him and miss him bunches and bunches!
- we are keeping up the blog and it was doing well.
- then, knowing the nature of tom cats, I told him to quit chasing the nurses down the halls!
- there were a ton of people praying and thinking of him, wishing him a speedy recovery, and that I had cards from all sorts of people for him when he is able.
I have to admit that I repeated #1 several times. Funny thing though, I heard a noise which sounded like a "kiss" so that tells me he heard me and was cheered. I reckon he had a big smile on his face. I sure had a big smile on my face!
So keep up the good thoughts and prayers! He knows you love him!

Indeed we do. He's a man worth knowing, that can't be said of all that many, and he's a man of thoughtful, loving action as well and that can be said of even fewer. I can "see" that smile even this far, Lynn. Hell, I'm smiling myself. :^)
So good to hear! I'll bet he'll have lots of "hospital tales" to relate to us upon his return….which will come sooner than later, we hope.

Absolutely FANTASTIC! SO HAPPY DANCE! Great to hear that he knows we are ALL behind him and YOU GOT TO TALK TO HIM!!!!! Oh, so relieved, HAPPY and relieved, AGAIN!

If you get to talk to him again, tell him that I am settled in on the Fantasy Football league and doing OK. I know that's trivial, but he might get a laugh outa that!

Great news, Lynn, thanks for sharing. Tell him as often as you can that we all love and miss him.
Bless you dear Lynn for this – I have tears in my eyes at the same time as chuckling at what you wrote – that was marvellous! I'm sure that as well as us here praying for TC daily, all the prisoners in his programme are praying for him too, they must miss him so. I love everyones messages – the thought of him doing wheelies down the hospital corridor in a few weeks is wonderful!
Thanks for this wonderful news, Lynn. It must have been so exciting to be able to speak to him (in the most literal sense 🙂 ) and let him know how much we all love and miss him. I'm sure he appreciated your call very much and it contributed to his recovery. Let's hope his vocal chords recuperate quickly from being on the vent a while, so he can talk back to you. If not, he'll soon find a way to communicate with you; you can't keep a TomCat from expressing himself. Thanks again for sharing.
