The four of us who have been working both in front of and behind the scenes (Lynn [aka “Squatch”], JLA, Joanne D, and myself, SoINeedAName) are now glad to provide some good news out of Oregon, rather than the disheartening news of yet another mass shooting massacre.

I’ll begin with our routine Disclaimer: We share your desire for as much information on TC as possible.  But we will continue to respect his privacy, and recognize the hospital has an ethical and legal obligation as directed by HIPAA guidelines to also protect his privacy.

I had the good fortune to speak with the Nurse Case Manager overseeing his care at the hospital TC is currently staying.  Last time I spoke with the nurse taking care of TC it was their feeling then that he most likely would be able to be transferred to a less intense facility in about two weeks.

But TC has made such progress that they now hope to transfer him in the next 2-5 days!

The next step-up facility is specifically designed to provide multiple therapy modalities that he will require on a longer term basis, but still relatively close to home.

This is most assuredly the direction we were all hoping for – so some good news to brighten an otherwise depressing news day.

We still need to gird ourselves for the bumps in the road that are typical in complicated medical cases.  And keep those cards and letters coming, addressed as follows …

  1. This is indeed news worth celebrating!  Thanks so much for posting this so quickly Nameless!

  2. That is indeed good news, Nameless.  If democrats in congress fought as hard as TomCat has, imagine what a great country we would have.

  3. Thank you for the post, Nameless and JL. This is indeed great news, really hope giving that TomCat will be OK in the end. He'll probably need quite some time to recover completely –  always way too long as far as he's concerned, I guess – so we'll have to keep him happy and pleasantly busy, i.e. nothing to do with Republicans, while he's recuperating fully.

    • You are welcome Lona–perhaps your supply of catnaps will help divert him from focusing on Republicans as he continues recuperating.

  4. Glad to hear that TC is improving on a steadily basis. Yes, there may be a few ups and downs during the course of health progress as does occur from time to time. The fact that TC is moving to another facility soon as his condition improves is a good indication of his improving health status.

    Thanks for the update. Hugzzz…

  5. wonderful news, thanks, still in my thoughts

  6. That is really, really good news.  And you're right, Oregon is in mourning today and this can't really counter balance that, but this does come as hugely welcome happy news.  Thank you.

  7. Good news coming out of Oregon our TC is showing good signs of improvement. Keep up the good work TC.

To those who lost family and friends in another mass shooting no words I can offer will satisfy.

I understand the Amendment but when do we as citizens also have the right to go to school, church, the movies without being shot simply for being there? How about our right to life?

  8. He's making strides! Indeed, leaps toward getting well! I am so happy to hear that he is getting to step down to a lesser-intense care! That is WONDERFUL! I wonder how long before he will be back on the 'puter, giving us the latest news? I know he has a long way to go, but this is FANTASTIC news! Thanks to all of you who are keeping us up to date on his progress! And what PROGRESS! He's going to make records for his recovery from here on out!

Thanks to jla for the heads up on the news! Thanks to all of the committee that has been keeping the blog going!

    Now, comense CELEBRATION MODE!

  9. Excellent and wonderful information regarding TC!!!

I will continue to offer prayers and good vibes, to wish him well for the next few days while he transfers to another facility for his on going care.

Kudos to Nameless, JL, Lynn, and Joanne for holding the helm while TC is recovering.

Thanks so much for this GREAT news!!!

  10. I think I will throw out a respectful and qualified dissent in the matter of Republicans.  I think they just might provide a "counter-irritant" to stimulate his fighting spirit.  (And I trust him to ration himself LOL.)

  11. Thanks, Nameless, that gives us hope.

  12. Thanks, Nameless, for yor comment on Cousin Phillip.  I shared it with his wife, Becky, and she wanted me to thank you for the encouraging words, some of the first she has had.  His hand surgeons will be Kutz and Kleiner.  She said you would know who they are.

  13. I have been absent for some time, but now I remember why I used to love this website. Thanks , I will try and check back more frequently. How frequently you update your site?

    • Thanks for stopping in.  We hope you become a daily visitor!

The site itself gets updated daily – usually by Lynn with me adding occasionally more "feature" type pieces.

The medical updates are pretty much my doing, and they are as dictated by significant changes in TC's medical status – so PRN (Pro re nata – as things needed)
