Rep. Jud McMillin, a rising star in the Indiana Repubican Party, abruptly resigned on Tuesday because of a sex video “starring” him was sent from his cellphone, which he says was stolen in Canada.

The Indianapolis Star has learned that the surprise resignation came after a sexually explicit video was sent via text message from McMillin's cellphone.

McMillin said in a text message last week, “My phone was stolen in Canada and out of my control for about 24 hours.  I have just been able to reactivate it under my control. Please disregard any messages you received recently. I am truly sorry for anything offensive you may have received.

And the schaden doesn’t get much more freude than with this bit of irony:

Unfortunately for McMillin, it’s perfectly legal for someone to distribute a pornographic video of him without his consent. That’s because, as a member of the House Committee on Courts and Criminal Code, McMillin helped block a bill that would criminalize revenge porn in Indiana.

The exact acts depicted in the video remain unclear, although the Indianapolis Business Journal reports that McMillin is definitely the tape’s feature player. But according to McMillin’s apologetic mass-text to his phone contacts, he didn’t hit the send button.

And it’s not the first time his sexual proclivity has led to his resignation:

In 2005, his career as an assistant county prosecutor in Ohio came to an end amid questions about his sexual conduct. He admitted to a relationship with the complainant in a domestic violence case he was prosecuting, but he insisted the relationship began after he stepped off the case, according to the Dayton Daily News. He resigned a week after he stopped working on the case.

So as a Rethuglican, who do you blame if you have an affair?  Blame Canada!

So as a Rethuglican, who do you blame if you decide to videotape having sex with her on your cellphone?  Blame Canada!

So as a Rethuglican, who do you blame if that sex tape is sent out en masse from your own cellphone?  Blame Canada!

Oh, and you may need a bit of help translating his “resignation apology”.

"I have decided the time is right for me to pass the torch," said McMillin, a married father of four. "Now I want to focus all of my attention on making my family's world a better place."

Forget his wanting to spend more time with his family.  He really wants to spend more time with his cellphone!

  1. "How awful…"

  2. Hoist with his own petard?

  3. I must admit that I was a bit put-off by "Blame Canada" . . . maybe I am overly sensitive on some things.  But I went to YouTube to check out the words which are difficult for me to understand when sung (it's a hearing issue). It doesn't help that I have never seen 'South Park' either.  Here are the words from the last part:

Sheila: It seems that everything's gone wrong
    Since Canada came along
    Everyone: Blame Canada
    Blame Canada
Copy Guy: They're not even a real country anyway
Ms. McCormick: My son could've been a doctor or a lawyer rich and true,
Instead he burned up like a piggy on the barbecue
Everyone: Should we blame the matches?
    Should we blame the fire?
Or the doctors who allowed him to expire?
    Sheila: heck no!
    Everyone: Blame Canada
    Blame Canada
Sheila: With all their hockey hullabaloo
Liane: And that bitch Anne Murray too
    Everyone: Blame Canada
    Shame on Canada
    For…
    The smut we must stop
    The trash we must bash
    The Laughter and fun
    Must all be undone
We must blame them and cause a fuss
Before somebody thinks of blaming uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuus!

Now I realise . . . How very, very Republican!

Here is Robin Williams doing "Blame Canada" at the 2000 Oscars.

    • Enjoyed watching this short video of Robin singing and him with a chorus line at the 2000 Oscars. Miss his comedic persona. Thanks for finding and sharing,

    • Sorry – no offense intended.  It was a bit of stretch on my part to inject a bit of humor.

But his point in explaining it was that if some Canuck had stolen his phone containing his sex video while he was in Canada, this would have never happened.  So the affair and videotaping of the sex was really not HIS fault – it was Canada’s.

      • Thanks for confirming what I thought was meant Nameless.

Humor is welcomed by me and has always been a hallmark of this blog IMO.

      • None taken Nameless!  Once I saw the words and had a few minutes to think, everything was good.

  4. I'm sure this distinction is self-evident to Republicans, but I find it confusing.  If he made the video – and he starred in it – and his co-star was someone other than his wife – and if acts of sex were performed – why would it conceivably make the slightest difference who pushed the button to "Send" it?  I mean, facts are facts.

  5. The hypocrisy is dripping from the page (again) and yet these Republican men always think they can get away with the most ludicrous excuses, i.e. Canada. What annoys me is that they automatically assume that everyone is as  stupid and gullible as the dummies which have elected him into office  (again). But most of all I feel sorry for the families they are going to spend more time with. Imagine the toxic atmosphere at the breakfast table, o joy.

  6. "But, but…it's not MY FAULT!"  We've heard this line from about half of the right wingers already…but I know:  BLAME CANADA!  Next they'll get blamed for Trump's hair!

    • Hey, we already get blamed for Cruz.  Keep the rest of the Clown Car idiots to yourselves.

  7. It amazes (and chagrins) me when I read of his trysts and then of course…blaming someone else. In this case, Canada!!! of all places. Gosh darn, that sticky 'Send' Button!!! But, it's not my fault !!! What a perv.

  8. What gets me is why do they record their own sexcapades?? Especially if they are MARRIED! Sooner or later, the videos come to light!! Just takes time to get them out there! And ya know they will!

Just "Blame Canada"? Why, of course! WTF? Another Kim Kardashian star is rising!

  9. The South Park video was satire, as is most of the show.  The actions of McMillan are all his own and he was grasping at straws when the attempt was made to blame it on cell phone theft.  I haven't seen his video and don't want to but I hope his wife does.

  10. Oh dear oh dear oh dear!  Hoist by his own petard in not banning revenge porn….  I can't imagine his family is going to feel to good about his increased presence round the house either.

Has anyone out there heard the possible canard spread about the PM of the UK last week – it was in all the media all week – the allegation refers to an alleged initiation ritual with a (deceased) pig – and I would never have thought it of anyone in my entire life, but apparently Lord Ashcroft (or whoever) has so alleged in a book.  I do not respect the Right Wing – but I was left dumbfounded, appalled and horrified.

  11. Thanks everyone.

  12. A lot of of the things you say happens to be supprisingly precise and it makes me ponder the reason why I hadn’t looked at this with this light before. Your article truly did turn the light on for me personally as far as this subject goes. However there is actually just one factor I am not really too cozy with so whilst I try to reconcile that with the main theme of your point, permit me observe exactly what the rest of the readers have to say.Well done.
