From all the lies packed into last Wednesday’s GOP debate, this mendacity caused my jaw to hit the floor:

JEBYA: “As it relates to my brother, there's one thing I know for sure: He kept us safe.  I don't know if you remember, Donald — you remember the rubble?  You remember the firefighter with his arms around him?  He sent a clear signal that the United States would be strong and fight Islamic terrorism, and he did keep us safe."

And sadly, that whopper got a huge round of applause from the partisan rabble-rousers.

Why, Jebya was so sure of himself he even sent out this Tweet:

I don’t know about you, but I think if you’re standing on a pile of rubble where 3,000 people had just been killed, it would be a YUUUGGE leap of faith to call that “Safe”.  Maybe this Tweet will jog Jebya’s – and all the other mouth-breathers who thinks Dubya's  calendar began on 9/12/01 – memory:

But there’s a great rebuttal ad that will begin airing next week on cable – well worth the 30 seconds it takes to watch …

From the YouTube intro:

Jeb Bush thinks his brother "kept us safe"… but we won't let Jeb rewrite history. Ignoring warnings of terrorists plots by Osama bin Laden, a tragically inept response to Hurricane Katrina, plunging our economy into recession and leading us into a unnecessary war that took the lives of over 4,000 US men and women – just a few examples of how "safe" Jeb's brother kept us.

  1. Makes one wonder if he even knows how the dictionary defines safe…

    • It wasn't safe for all the soldiers without safety equipment at all or that fit or the right color camoflage either…

    • An email I just got: "Moments ago, news broke that Scott Walker is dropping out of the race for president. "

      • AUFC Statement on WI Gov. Scott Walker’s Whimpering Exit from the Presidential Stage

“Turns out belittling working men and women isn’t a recipe for success even among GOP primary voters”

Washington DC (September 21, 2015) – With Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker widely expected to drop out of the presidential race tonight, Americans United for Change President Brad Woodhouse issued the following statement:

“As he limps out of the race at zero percent in the national polls, Scott Walker was a one-trick labor bashing pony and the novelty seems to have worn off even among Republican primary voters. And not even the Koch brothers could save him from his money problems. But really, what was Walker running on to begin with? All Walker had to show for stripping away thousands of Wisconsin workers’ collective bargaining rights was turning one of the best state jobs records into one of the worst in the Midwest, while it led the nation in families falling out of the middle class. Governor Walker has the reverse-Midas touch. Everything he touches economically turns into dairy cow flop.  Let Walker’s early collapse be a lesson to the other Republicans in the field.  Assaulting the labor movement is not just a loser economically, it’s a loser politically, with polls showing that nearly 60 percent of Americans and a greater majority of millennials, regardless of political affiliation, support unions.  Don’t let the door hit you on the way out, Scott.”

        • Both Snotty Walker and Ted Cruz have got to rank as two of the most ANNOYING politicians of all time.

One down and (what is it – I lose count) … 15 – 16 to go!

        • This is good news for me,  Union busters are lower than a snakes belly, to use an old southern expression.

  2. Very glad the ad will be on cable next week.

I happen to live in an area where I can bring in a local Fox affiliate with rabbit ears (I DON'T, but I COULD).  No one on my block is rich and I can't help wondering if many of my neighbors get Faux Noise that way (I AM NOT going to try watching it to find out.)  If so, too bad the ad will miss them.

  3. Glad to see that they will be airing this.

    • They are about to find that we can and will fight back….just biding our time to let them hang themselves…

  4. Does this really surprise anyone? If you're looking to cash in on the "dynasty" and use the family name as a wheelbarrow into the Oval Office you better make sure that name is "remembered" in a positive way by polishing it up, because, as we all know, it has become tarnished somewhat ?

  5. New Evidence of Foreknowledge of the 9/11 Attacks

The date of 9/11/2001 occurred on Dubya's watch. He did not keep us "safe". The bush administration had foreknowledge of the impending attack and did nothing. They allowed it to happen!

  6. As TC called him, I think, something Fitzwalkerstan. Weeeee! Well, TC will be glad to hear THAT! Hope someone at the hospital tells him that! Scott Walker was a friggen idiot! And he will not be missed!

Now, about Jebya! Glad to see someone is calling him out for his LIES! AMAZING that he could stand there and say that "his brother kept us safe"!! Did he have his fingers crossed behind his back? His Mommy wouldn't like him lying like that on national TV! He's got some 'splainin to do!!!

Ugh! I just can't get over how proud he was of his brother standing on the rubble of the fallen towers!! That's a great place for him to be proud of!! On the rubble of 3,000 people's ashes!!!!

YEAH, proud of his brother's mistakes!!!! Just what we need!! ANOTHER 9-11 in another place!

    • The Fartfuhrer of Fitzwalkerstan is Walker's appellation as given by TC.  And it is so deserving and appropriate!

Vivian, check tomorrow's Open Thread for more on Walker.

  7. Seems news today is related to TC's last poll as the second drop-out: also with investigations related to criminal activity in the news like Perry…does that mean Christie will be the next given that theme?  Is money abandoning those who might want campaign money for legal defenses?

  8. I love "Jebya" an apt name for him. He is too little, too late.  Surely we will not have another Bush in the White HOuse.  Dubya not only did not keep us safe, he bankrupted us.

  9. For some, the grade 2 Forida class he was reading 'The Pet Goat' to at the time of the 2nd attack, he did make them feel safer. This from Time 03 May 2011.  Look at the comments of some of those kids 10 years later.  But for the rest of the country, a resounding NO!

    Baby Bush is a serial killer . . . the economy, Iraq, 9-11, the soul of a nation . . .

  10. He spawned ISIL by keeping us "safe".
