This July was a slight decline from last year.

Here is our latest demographic data from Quantcast:

QUse7-2015

They miss a ton of raw data, but among those they can identify they are a valuable source of information.  We are still mostly older, well educated, poor and middle class, and politically active Democrats.

Here is our latest ClustrMap:

CMap7-2015

ClustrMap misses a lot of, because many visits can’t be easily traced to a location.  It shows only the visits from March 3 to July 18, when it was last updated.

Here are our top five articles:

Jane Smiley: Capitalist Pigs 1/17/2010 3,570
GOP Reps Just Love to Hate 7/10/2015 426
Happy Independence Day! 7/4/2015 222
Last Week’s Republican Lunacies 7/12/2015 188
Knowing is NOT Caring 7/11/2015 181

The count represents only the people who followed an external link to that specific article.  I’m quite pleased that four from July made the cut, because we usually get more visitors on older articles.

Here are our top non-blog/news referrers:

Care2 2,100
Google 1,324
Stumbleupon 214

All are up slightly.

Here are our top  blog/news referrers:

http://progressiveerupts.blogspot.com/
http://www.synapticstew.com/
http://mockpaperscissors.com/

I have usually included fifteen here, but these eight are the only ones with two or more referrals.  This is the one stat that disappoints me most, because it means that we are no longer a go-to site for bloggers.  However, it seems we’re becoming a go-to site for activists, which is also good.

I apologize that we have no top commentators list this time.  I was so exhausted from going to my foot surgery in 103° weather that I fell asleep before copying the names, and when I awakened, the list had reset.  Mea culpa.

As the resident Big Mouth, I don’t count.  Those who leave their URLs in their comment headers, also get “linkey-love” here.  People who submit articles to Care2 can use their submitted news link from there.

We have 220,619 links on other websites.

As of Midnight on August 1, we have 5,666 articles and 66,700 comments.

Kudos to SoINeedAName for posting the 66,000th comment.

I recommend using your own avatar. We’re still slower than I’d like to be, and  I can only hope that improves.  The Clown Car is full and overflowing with presidential hopefuls, all of whom, without exception, will destroy this nation, if elected.  Whether you support Bernie or Hillary, I ask, once again, that you refrain from attacking the other and base your arguments on the good things about your choice.  However, it’s open season (politically) on the Republican candidates.  They and the Republican Bubble Machine will be repeating so many lies so often that we’ll be hard pressed to keep repeating  the truths.  I’ll do my best to assist you, by exposing the lies and presenting the truths clearly.  The first Faux Noise Cavalcade of Criminal Clowns is on August 6.  Stock up on barf bags.  You’re going to need them!

Thank you for all that you do, here and elsewhere.  You are the reason this site exists.

  1. "This July was a slight decline from last year."  Yes, but last year was a Congressional/Senatorial election year.  This year isn't.  We are looking forward to a Presidential election year, but we are not in it yet.  Not everyone is conscientious enough to get involved this early.

  2. I agree with Joanne.  I also noted it was up from June (statistically significant level).  Care2 had a few very bad days of lagtime in July, too.  A couple of Care2 people who we saw comment regularly last year have gone down to occasional.

    • You might want to pay attention to total count of articles in a month as a factor, too.  Last year you may have had more days with three posts and fewer with one.

  3. I agree with JLA.  Several times in July I had a tough time finding you on Care2.  Not everyone will take the time to go straight to Politics Plus.  That could have a bearing on it, too.

    • Good point Edie!  I always keep the most recent card in my Care2 messages until I've used the next I received–I found it way too hard otherwise.

  4. When you look at July 2015, yes it is marginally lower than last year, but it is, for the most part, the best since January 2015.  I would tend to agree with JD that 2014 was an election year (non presidential) so interest and volumes may have been higher then compared to 2015.  Look out in 2016!

Over the past few years, I have generally commented the most during a month.  This month however, JD and JL commented more I believe, but not much.  One thing I like is that more people from Care 2 are commenting at the site and I've noted more discussion.

    Great job TC !

  5. Those are all excellent points.  Thanks.
