Here are the results of our “Which is Terrorism” poll.  Politics Plus Polls are not scientific, because those who respond are not balanced according to demographic categories.   Therefore, we do not accurately reflect the makeup of the US population.  Nevertheless, our polls are usually factually accurate, and more often than not, they reflect thinking or will of the national majority.

I hoped this poll would demonstrate that terrorism is defined by behavior, not by which extreme ideology is being used to justify it.  I think that the view of our readers us correct.  When Crawford Caligula was un office I uses to say that America has more to fear from al Dubya than we ever did from al Qaeda.  Events since have repeatedly proven me right.

There is a new poll up now.  Please vote.

  1. One of the most unanimous responses on a poll here that I can recall.

  2. Thanks for the poll results, TomCat. I agreed with SoINeedAName on this one: pseudo-Christian Republicans are not all terrorists by definition; bigoted yes, racist maybe, but unless violent not terrorists per se, unlike members of the KKK who join the clan with the intention to terrorize black people. So I couldn't find an option which suited me and I didn't vote this time.

    • Looks like we're going to need to move to Switzerland for this vote …

  3. I was in the first 11 to vote & we all voted "All of the Above"..Looks like we all define terrorists the same way…people who terrorize! ".. I'm not sure why others Won't label pseudo-Christian Republicans & KKK "terrorists", but will violent Islamists..maybe it's the lack of the word Violent in front of pseudo-Christian & KKK?????? Violence is the Ultimate form of terrorism, but far from the Only form of terrorism. So hate-speech & gun-toting are NOT terrorism? hmm…Arming police to the teeth & telling them it's okay to mace children & peaceful activists is NOT terrorism? Burning churchs (as long as nobody is inside) is NOT terrorism??? Preaching that homosexuality is punishable by death is NOT terrorism? *sigh* I guess the GOP is NOT a terrorist organization (by FBI definition), but Occupy activists ARE..:(

  4. I'm with Yvonne here  You don't have to shoot people and or blow them up to be a terrorist.  All you need to do is use fear (terror) to influence the behavior of others, usually with the intention of "keeping them in line."  Every one of those groups cited (and a few more) scare the hell out of me.  They all quality as terrorists, not just for that, but because they all scare the hell out of a lot of people.  People who disagree with them.  People who are paying attention.

  5. Glad to see I voted with the majority.  All of the above fit for me.

  6. I was one of the two people who voted "terrorists" as being the extreme and violent Islamists. Isis is a good example. Al Qaeda and the Taliban are two other terrorist organizations as are many others in the world. There is also another thought, a reason is the fact that the terrorists, which, by my own definition and viewpoint, are of and from a foreign country, outside of USA.

There is one other group which should be labeled as a terrorist organization. It is the USA with its drone program. It is used to terrorize, maim and kill others in foreign countries.

Both groups have suffered from the loss of many innocents.

  7. "Like JD, I would also add "All religious extremists" as the type of religion doesn't matter, but the blind approach to religion does."

I voted with the majority.  It is the blind fanaticism which makes anyone in these groups terrorists.  The 'my way or the highway' approach that bullies others, that terrorises others.

  8. I guess I need to step up, apologize, and take responsivility for some imprecise wording that made the poll less clear than it should have been.  Had I said Violent KKK Republicans and Violent pseudo-Christian Republicans, that would have expressed my intent.
