Bernie Wowed Denver!

I don’t know about you, but I’ve absorbed so much bad news in the last week that I feel like the dawg hired to be the scratching post at a cat convention.  Recently, the best way to spell “Good News” is B-E-R-N-I-E!!  So here he is, including a one hour video.

0622BernieDenBreathing a progressive political fire, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders ignited Colorado supporters with a blistering condemnation of billionaires and corporations, drawing a crowd of nearly 5,000 to Denver — the largest of his Democratic presidential campaign since the May kickoff.

The 73-year-old Independent spoke for an hour and hit a nerve on economic issues as he advocated for an end to income inequality as well as a higher minimum wage, pay equity for women and more government spending on infrastructure.

"What we are doing tonight is we are sending a message to the billionaire class and that is: You can’t have it all!" Sanders said, shouting to a crowd that filled a University of Denver gymnasium and spilled onto a nearby lacrosse field. "The unquenchable greed of the billionaire class is destroying this nation and it has got to end."

The size and energy of the crowd — which gave Sanders numerous standing ovations and repeatedly chanted his name — reflected a craving among some in the Democratic Party for an alternative to 2016 front-runner Hillary Clinton, the former secretary of state and first lady…

  1. "In a statement, Colorado Republican Party Chairman Steve House 'it's amusing to watch the self proclaimed socialist try to beat Hillary Clinton, the Democratic Party's heir apparent. The fact is that Coloradans are sick and tired of Sen. Sanders and President Obama's agenda that has hurt Colorado's working families.'"  Well, he can belieethat if he wants to.  But I don't think he does.  I think he knows that the only people who are sick and tired of liberal policies are billionaires (and not even all of them – vide Nick Hanauer) and Republicans who have eaten up lies for so long that they now think black is white (unless, of course, it's Obama we're talking about.)

  2. The Bernie Effect is far greater than I ever thought it could be. Despite looking like a granddad, Bernie manages to inspire young and old,  and all because his message is both honest and clear. No smoke and mirrors,  with Bernie we know what we get and what to expect.  No, no miracles, but a sound policy,  fair to all.

    Go , Bernie,  go.

  3. Bernie is a breath of fresh Liberal air! He is FORCING the Democratic Party to remember its base – which should be called "the Fallen", since we've fallen to the wayside under Bu$h and Obama. The fallen Middle Class is mostly faking it, faking surviving, faking interest in anything that isn't Directly Connected to JOBS & income! We DON'T care what's happening anywhere except our own backyard (which might soon be a public park & private sleeping bag!).. So Bernie IS our only hope. Hillary is finally seeing that the Warren Wing IS the future, but her slow uptake has cost her Dearly. I would vote for ANY Democrat over ANY RepubliCON, but I want & need a Real Liberal this time!

    • I do hope Bernie wins the "whole enchilada" but even if he doesn't, hopefully, he'll influence what Hillary (and perhaps others) might try to do in office.  But, I do agree, I need a real liberal in there this time, too, and Bernie fills the bill!

  4. I watched Bernie on Bill Maher and was excited for the first time! I had actual HOPE! I can’t view the whole video, but I can imagine what he said! And KUDOS to Elizabeth Warren for pumping up the base with her message! I would love to see the student loan debt problem be SOLVED and help for the millions that have that much debt hanging over their heads at such a young age! I have two sons that are both saddled with this wretched millstone around their necks! One is better-off in the debt equation, but still, both have to make those damned payments every month that keep them from making ANY headway and can’t afford to even attempt to have ANYTHING! No cars, no homes and no job that will pay enough to live on! Abominable, after all that school and time WASTED!

    • I so like this comment that I wish Tom would add a "Like" button!  Kudos to you,Vivian.  I watch Bill Maher online, too, so only got part of Bernie's talk, but I'm glad to see Bill may be loosening his hold on Hillary.  So far Bill has been a little to Hillary-sure for my taste.

      • I fully agree, but that won't happe because a like buttio is a tie in to Facebook.  I no longer do Facebook,  Their terma are an agreement to allow them to violate both your intellectul, properety rights and yoiur privacy.

  5. Bernie really struck a note when he used the Republicanus/Teabaggerum slogan of "family values" and turned it on its head by tieing it in with paid sick leave, parental leave, Obamacare, SNAP, education, paid vacations etc, etc.  The Republicanus/Teabaggerum of course use the slogan to denote the war on women and the war on LGBTQ rights.

He had the people wild about the incomes of the Waltons, the Kochs . . . and about income inequality.  He covered JOBS, JOBS, JOBS, a "leftover" from the 2012 election that has not surfaced since 2012 because of the obstructionist Republicanus/Teabaggerum.

Bernie had everyone wound up tighter than a spinning top with enthusiasm.  And last but not least, he talked about getting out the vote and about people who vote against their own best interest.  If every campaign stop was like this and the MSM picked it up, I think we'd be saying " the President of the United States, Bernie Sanders".

If all his stops are like this until the election, I think the Republicanus/Teabaggerum will be in the unemployment line!

    Go Bernie!

. . . and if the US doesn't elect him, Canada would love him.  He'd fit right in with our social democracy!

    • The problem w/ Repubicans trying to claim to be the party of "Family Values" has always been:

      Whose family?

      Whose values?

Sounds like Bernie recognized this and turned it to his advantage.  So good on him!

  6. Bernie is burning up the polls.  All of us need to keep sharing him on our Social Media to educate the friends who don't know about him.  So far, he is the only candidate who stands up for the poor and the middle class.

  7. Just a thought, if we think that Herr Harper was annoyed having to deal with Obama, can you see Herr Harper dealing with a social democrat like Bernie?  He'd be positively apoplectic!

But of course we'll never see that because Herr Harper will be down in the annals of history by the time the US election rolls around.

  8. Bernie has turned into a Rock Star on the political front. He is wowing the crowds everywhere he goes. How long will main stream media continue to discount him? A friend of mine said she mentioned his name and the people she knows in Hicktown, USA who listen to FAUX had not even heard of him.

  9. Thanks all.  Bernie continues to impress.

  10. Sanders is doing a great job he haw.  Also good news for Clinton she is 76% ahead.  If Bush gets the nomination ( could happen)( or for that matter any of the clowns)  We will see our party have another 8yrs(16 yrs in the white house will be a great start at changing some of the damage the republican/tea party has caused  ( Clinton will run more on the left but must run more in the middle( which she has what it takes) when she or if she is our president.  Because you can not run the country on the right or the left it has to be in the middle.)

  11. God bless and protect the wonderful and marvellous Bernie Sanders forever!
