I’d like to say that I’m well rested, but unfortunately I have reached the level of tired that sleep does not come easily.  Maybe a low-key weekend with lots of kitty basking in the sun will help.

Cartoon:

Today’s took me 3:25 (average 4:24).  To do it, click here.  Hiw did you do?

Short Takes:

From Daily Kos: The Guardian UK has decided to keep a running total of ALL people killed by police in 2015, and keep a live running total that you can check on their website.

They break it down demographically and by state to make it easy to see what is happening in this nation.

It's even interactive. You can give them info, that they might not have been given by local agencies where you live.

Can you imagine any entity in our so called free press doing something like this?

Kudos to the Guardian. Click here.

From Upworthy: As you surely know by now, Caitlyn Jenner introduced herself on the cover of Vanity Fair.

Only one group have a problem with Caitlyn being who she is: Republicans.

From Media Matters: The Fox News Primary For May

The Republican Reichsministry of Propaganda, Faux Noise, is goose-stepping early and often.

Had Republicans not had him murdered, he probably would have won.

  1. Kudos to the Guardian for quite a site…. scary but also very informative.

A bunch of brown stuff to Faux Noise for their usual contribution to making the world better.  There is not one single name on that list that doesn't give me nausea….

  2. 3:51 average still 4:24.  Glad you have sunshine.  We had two days of it but now back to rain.

Daily Kos – No, I can't imagine anyone in the US doing this.  But I am so glad thet they are.

Upworthy – Yes, I was reading in I think Daily Kos, even the Kardashians are being amazingly sane.  Which may serve to emphasize just how crazy the crazies are.  I don't, incidentally, think that trans people are "born male" or "born female" and then transition.  I think that are "born apparently male (or female)" or maybe "born physically male (or female)."  I think the trans identity is in fact present at birth but is invisible outside the infant"s brain/soul/spirit  And that is how I answer people like the troll on Care2 who never posts except on trans issues, and then just posts "You are what you were born with."  Idiot.  I think you are in fact what you are born with, but that may not be what everyone else THINKS you were born with.  OK, end of rant.

Media Matters – Well.  This suggests to me that above everything, Fox is interested in giving crazies a platform on which to be crazy.  Especially fringe crazies.  There is no interest in determining which loser might actually be a serious contender.  No surprise there, of course.

Cartoon – Of all sad words of tongue or pen, the saddest are these, "It might have been.”  (John Greenleaf Whittier)

  3. 3:13  A kayaking we shall go.

    • 2:49  Do you need a tow Jerry?  I have a nice beach fire pit set up in the shade, dogs and the fixings in the cooler, a second cooler filled with beer, marshmallows for twilight roasting!  Are you up to it?

  4. That is wonderful that the Guardian is keeping track! We need that here! Oh, I forgot. We can’t make something like that! Someone might get the idea that the cops are killing people at a very high rate!!!!

  5. Would have been better (and more accurate) if Gov. Kasich had stopped speaking a tad sooner.  This is what he said:

Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R), campaigning in New Hampshire yesterday, made a comment about Jeb Bush:

“I didn’t think I was going to be back up here again because frankly, I thought Jeb was just going to suck all the air out of the room, and it just hasn’t happened.”

… BUT this is where Kasich SHOULD have stopped:

“I didn’t think I was going to be back up here again because frankly, I thought Jeb was just going to suck …"

    See – pithier and truer!

    • Say, TC – what's going on w/ your Comment formatting?  I'm getting red bars and multiple formatting changes when I don't even do a thing!

  6. Puzzle — 2:49  Do you need a tow Jerry?  I have a nice beach fire pit set up in the shade, dogs and the fixings in the cooler, a second cooler filled with beer, marshmallows for twilight roasting!  Are you up to it?

Daily Kos — Interesting information.  Definitely kudos to the Guardian.  It seems that the rose coloured glasses of American exceptionalism have blinded the American media and others.  Shame!  Shame!

Upworthy — JD, I agree.  I think that people need to look at the inner person, not the outer shell.  For me, it is rather like "looking at God".  When I was a child, other kids in Sunday School would say God is a really old man with long white hair, beard and moustache.  I never had that picture.  God was always "I am".

Media Matters — With so many potential and declared candidates, we are going to see a lot of division and friction within the Republicanus/Teabaggerum.  Between the potential candidates and Faux Noise, I hope they figuratively slit each other's throats.

Cartoon — Like I still remember my reaction to JFK's assassination in 1963, I also remember my reaction to Bobby's assassination.  Sirhan Sirhan shoot Bobby in a back hallway of a hotel where Bobby was going to speak.  I could not figure out then why someone would shoot another like that, and today I still can't comprehend it.

  7. I hope you get lots of sun to bask in, you need it.

Daily Kos:  OUtstanding!  No major media in this country will ever do this, they are too afraid of the NRA.

Upworthy:  Kudos to Caitlyn.  It took a long time for her to become herself.

Media Matters:  Wonder which of these will get Faux news full support?  Depends on which is crazier, I guess.

Cartoon:  I had the radio on while getting ready for work and I cried when I heard this news.  It was a great loss to our country.  We might never have been as down as we are now if this had not happened.

  8. Sorry TC – domestic problems …

  9. Promise me you'll stick to the plan of a low-key weekend with lots of kitty basking in the sun and I'll send yoy a fresh batch of catnaps to last you through that weekend and more.

Daily Kos: I took some time to explore the site, although I couldn't get the map to work, because I refused to install Chrome, and was amazed by the details in insight it gives into the way police works in some states. It's also amazing because it gives a full overview of ALL deaths caused by police officers, including (car) accidents, tasering and just being in custody. It shows that shooting is just one of the many ways people are killed by the police. I was absolutely shocked at the number of people killed in general, but also by the number of people killed by tasering, at this point in time 28 of 479 deaths are due to tasers who are supposed to be safe and non-lethal?! And America is not gathering these data to review, that is shameful.

Upworthy: I'm a great supporter of the LGBT community and have a transgender friend who became a woman in her forties, but rich media magnets like Jenner (and the Kardashians) are of no interest to me and my friend. They just do not go through the same difficulties as the average transgender person and do not represent them.

Media Matters: In the lead with 7 appearances (1 hour 10 minutes total) is Mike Huckabee. I think that says about all.

Cartoon: Robert might have made an even better president than his brother John, but we will never know for sure. Dynasties on the other hand are never a good thing, that we do know for sure.

  10. Heard Rick yesterday. He is using a new language Gobble di Gook.(I think) has no relationship to correct Englisn.

(and people VOTE for this twerp!!. Oh well they are Texans. !)

  11. Daily Kos:
Shocking new video shows unarmed Utah man was listening to headphones when killed by police

This video is not for the squeamish nor faint hearted!

This killing would not make the list of 2015 killings as put out by The Guardian. This occurred on August 11, 2014. This is important as another senseless killing by the out-of-control police in US.

My question is who was the 911 caller to the police?
