Yesterday was a bad day for resting.  When  I went down to bask in the sunshine, I realized that all my spots were occupied.  The city rents put the sidewalk in front of my building for about $30 a head to watch the Rose Festival Starlight Parade.  The noise below my window magnified as the day progressed, and it did not abate until after 1 AM, when the street sweepers went through.  I’ve taken some shortcuts today, because I’m so tired.  The following video is four years old, but it will give you an idea od what it’s like from a sidewalk renter’s perspective.

From Daily Kos: Pat Robertson advises 80 year old tither to get her butt to work

Barf Bag Alert!!

September, 2014. He personifies Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christian greed.

From Daily Kos:

So there’s this thing that measures how happy people are:

The Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index, which interviewed more than 176,000 people from all 50 states last year, measures the physical and emotional health of Americans across the country.

So take a gander at the states with the most miserable people:

10. Louisiana
9. Oklahoma
8. Missouri
7. Tennessee
6. Arkansas
5. Ohio
4. Alabama
3. Mississippi
2. Kentucky
1. West Virginia

February, 2014. I’m not surprised. Are you? I see a direct correlation between degree of Republican rule and misery.

From Daily Kos: Which party is best for the economy? It’s not even close

  1. 4: 29 average (still?) 5:41.  It's almost warm enough today to appreciate this.  Almost.

TC, when you were coming home on the bus, was this part of the problem?  I thought I recognized a slight resemblance:  http://cheezburger.com/8501984256

Very sorry about the fuss in the street.  One of the "perks" of living downtown?

All excellent stories, none new, all well worth repeating.

Cartoon – and Republicans are doing their best to repeal it.  Shudder.

  2. Some people in Oklahoma are happy! Me! And my husband and kids!

  3. Well, to me, your Rose Parade Festival is VERY QUIET!  So what are you griping about?  😉

And WRT your "Well-Being Meter", West Virginians respond:

    "We're #!! We're #!! We're #!! …"

    • Above is much louder than at street level.  People's air horns are the worst!

      • Well, not to ME, they're not.  (There are precious few advantages to hearing loss – but this is one of them!)

  4. I can see that it might be difficult to sleep with a marching band under your window!

Daily Kos:  That 80 year old woman should ask him to give her his job.  Barf bag alert is always needed for this old coot.

Daily Kos #2 :  I fully understand why Ky is no. 2.  McConnell and Rand can assure us we will keep that or maybe exceed and push WV out of the #1 spot.

Daily Kos #3:  I shared this on Facebook.  I hope a few of my Red friends read it and believe.

  5. 3:17  I like these Spanish arches much, much more than the Golden Arches!  Is there even any comparison?

  6. Puzzle — 3:17  I like these Spanish arches much, much more than the Golden Arches!  Is there even any comparison?

Daily Kos — Barf Bag Alert indeed!  I saw this a few days ago and all I could think was that Robertson is the devil incarnate . . . no compassion, no common sense.

Daily Kos — "I see a direct correlation between degree of Republican rule and misery." — Me too!  I wonder how long it will take voters in these states to recognise that the source of much of their unhappiness is directly tied to the Republicanus/Teabaggerum?

Daily Kos — It seems that if the sheeple ever open their eyes and their minds to this information, the Republicanus/Teabaggerum would be nothing more than a foot note in history!

Cartoon — In part, the 17th amendment says:

"The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, elected by the people thereof, for six years; and each Senator shall have one vote. The electors in each State shall have the qualifications requisite for electors of the most numerous branch of the State legislatures."

One thing that should have been included is term limits.  If the POTUS is restricted to 2 four year terms, then the senators should likewise restricted to 2 terms.

    • On term limits, check out Solon.

    • I don't like term limits.  They favor Republicans.  I will not agitate for removing the term limit on POTUS because that would be a losing battle, but I do note it is pure sentiment (because George Washington) and also that it was a Democrat who scared the Repubs into pushing and getting the amendment.

  7. Deepest sympathy about the parade TC – it is awful when things like that happen, and they usually start making noise again just as you think it is all over and you have started to relax and doze off, then off they go again!  I hope you have/had some kitty naps during the day to make up for it.

Can't watch that unbearable hypocrite, that whited sepulchre called Pat Robertson – will just have to take everyone's word for it that he is at it again. I think he worships the very opposite of God – at least from his pronouncements which are devoid of humanity, charity, intelligence and compassion, he does seem to.  By their works you shall know them…

  8. So much for your plans on dozing and basking in the early summer sun. So sorry you didn't enjoy the parade from the view out of your room's window. If you don't like that sort of thing, or it just goes on and on far too long to your taste, these things can be quite annoing right under your window. I hope you can catch up on sleep later on.

Daily Kos: Pat Robertson is right about one thing: there are many ways to make money even if you're 80 years old, and he's the perfect example of it, going on television to bully the gullible, old and poor believers out of their 10% tithings that go right into his pocket. His greed for their hard-earned money is utterly disgusting. There's no barf bag big enough to hold my contempt for this man.

Daily Kos: No surprise here, all states under strict Republican rule.People are so despondent there, they don't even bother to register and vote, it's all the same to them. The people of these states need a lot of direct attention starting right now if Democrats want to take Congress back. Get going! And take those graphs with private jobs created under Democratic and Republican presidents with you as instruction material. Don't forget to add Obama, though.

  9. One morefor the Clown bus.(lindsey Graham,(Hewhosaid all Iranians are Liars). OH such a Statesman!.

The C.C. is getting overcrowded! and and narey a qualified candidate in sight.!

To bad that there are not at least two genuine parties to compete!. It could have been meaningful to hear "Sense" from both sides!. DREAM ON America.

  10. Thanks all.  Pooped.  Hugs!
